Very thoughtful work. I feel your creativity does shine through and I love the simplicity of the beauty here. Thank you for sharing. As always, keep snapping…
Fantastic video Alister. Your images are sublime and thankyou for sharing your insights with us. Bucket list item for me is to do one of your workshops! Thankyou again for getting my creative soul dancing again.
Thanks so much Deb, and thank you so much for buying Out of Darkness. I can’t wait for it to be finished in the new year. Production has begun. Would love to meet you one day.
I spent some valuable time watching your video (time spent with your videos is always valuable) where you ask viewers to post a song after spending a minute looking at one of your amazing dune photos. And I had a song in mind, but it looks like you closed the comments. That was disappointing because I was excited about sharing the song that came to mind. That said, I know you’re a huge Pink Floyd fan, so you’re undoubtedly very familiar already with the song I had in mind: One of these days. Cheers 🍻
Once again you have hit it out of the park with this one. So subtle and powerful. This is a welcome wake up for me in my new environment that I have been trying to solve for a few years now. Mahalo
Thanks for your insightful video. You’ve shown me that I don’t have to be chained to the weather forecast to capture the perfect light. I think for me it’s just a matter of opening my eyes and connecting with the landscape regardless of light, weather, and following all the compositional tools. You’ve challenged me to see “the beautiful landscape within the beautiful landscape.” Thank you!
That’s awesome feedback thank you. When we get perfect light it’s great, but feeling miserable because the wind changed direction and blew all the clouds away seems such a sad outcome from being in nature.
I very much light your video, both photography and emotions; thank you. I have one comment, however: the guitar behind your head can be a little distracting. Thanks again for your insights. Alex McKown
Wonderful video that gave me a lot to think about! Where I live (west coast of Sweden) nature is quite diverse, and one typical thing for the landscape are the granite rocks. But I find them so difficult to photograph. They are beautiful to just look at but I struggle capturing the feeling they give me. Think one thing is that they are soft rocks, not pointy= not so interesting. Saving this video so I can watch over and over again, maybe I’ll get a breakthrough on how to approach the rocks. Thank you for the tips!
I believe this message can help to unlock any environment and it’s the approach I use everywhere I go. The landscape speaks, sometimes with a quiet voice, but often the most to say. Thanks for your kind words.
Fantastic message…really hits home. I added a special request to Adam’s latest video…so I will add it to yours as well! A couple of years ago, you and Adam independently processed some of our images. It was great to see your different interpretations. Perhaps you could do the same again sometime. You may just find some images within the image to highlight todays point…👍
Particularly valuable observations, Alister: I'll be remembering these for future outings, since finding what has taken my attention is something I often grapple with unsuccessfully.
You've given me some ideas about a couple of desert mountain images I took last May in Arizona. I felt they had more potential than I'd gotten from them. I'm away from home now, but when I return I'll have another go at them. I look forward to posting them on your community site and getting some feedback.
Lovely video Alister. I was able to visit the dunes in Death Valley this past winter and thought about your wonderful images. "What would Alister shoot?" 😂 I started to see shapes and forms and contrast. Thanks for all you do. 🙏 Can't wait to get your book!
Shipping a book that’s over 2kg is expensive. We’re trying to subsidise the shipping by cutting our margin. On some books we may not make any money at all. We’ve checked with the courier and looked at pricing and it’ll cost us over £45 to ship to Switzerland. We’re charging customers £30.
The book is available on our website. Depending where you are shipping is free or subsidised. Thanks for your interest. The link is in the top of the description below the video
Talking about "the big picture" I as an old photographer, can I said that on the way to be oldest I became to take pictures more and more close..!! Is this a automatic condition of our spirit maybe..!?!? Cheers fron the chilean patagonia...!!
It shouldn't be humbling. It should be an honor that you are getting such recognition!
Another brilliant, informative and educational video!!! Let's have open mind! Thanks so much Alister!
The close talker analogy is perfect. really nailed the reason for balance!
Brilliant, encouraging.
A really interesting and informative video Alistair, keep ‘em coming please 😀
Excellent one !
Another great video Alister!!
I take so much out of your sessions and your ebooks, thank you so much for creating some excellent resources. Go well. 🙏🏻
That’s awesome, really delighted to hear that

That is such a great song, and one I know so well. Yes, that works great with the image. Thank you so much for that.
I'm very much enjoying the recent series of videos Alister that are providing very specific advice & direction.
Always happy to hear that ❤️

Haha, yes, it gets kinda busy sometimes! ❤️
@@Alister_Benn Well, as you so artfully articulated in the video, we take the breadth of information and narrow it down to the love juice...😁
@@esanford Love "sauce" !!!! :-) 🙂
Thank you

Excellent! I need to be more open, my locations are tough. Thank you!
That’s common, I’ve struggled in so many places until I’ve stopped looking and started listening
thank you for sharing your wisdom Alister - you are guiding me every time I go out with my camera.
Thanks Lisa, that means a lot. The forum waits 🥹🫠😉
I very much light your video, both photography and emotions; thank you.
I have one comment, however: the guitar behind your head can be a little distracting.

Thanks for the kind words. It’s a small studio and the guitars need to be somewhere handy when I’m recording
@@Alister_Benn I appreciate your responding.

Again a profound and wonderful video. It confirms my purchase of your book. Your advices are in my mind, starting to a Lapland excursion tomorrow
Have a wonderful time, what a wonderful landscape to explore an open mind

It’s a skill, the same as any other. The more you make it the way the more it becomes the way. Have a great week. Kindest regards

That’s fabulous, the world really opens up when you understand what is speaking.
@@Alister_Benn absolutely. In Death Valley, everything was speaking 😂.
@@blivieriphoto Yeah, I'm sure, it's such a beautiful and awe-inspiring place.
Would love to buy your book - but shipping to Switzerland is ridiculously expensive. Isn’t there a cheaper way to get it here?

I’ve seen many books where the cost of shipping is more than the cost of the book, believe me when I say we have really tried here
An especially wonderful video. You’ve given me lots to consider as I get my mind ready for fall photography. Thank you. Your work is so helpful.
That’s awesome, so delighted to read your comment
Is there a place in the EU where I can buy your new book?
