I absolutely respect this channel - and your honesty in recovery! What stood out to me in these challenges is that in the "5,000 burned" they don't account for the energy needs for your BMR, which is significant. Major props to completing this, and smashing some mental blocks that come with ED recovery.
You are so awesome. Your vids encourage me into recovery every day. The weirdest thing is that when you are injured, I always seem to come down with an injury. Not the same injury - that would just be too weird. Thank you for being you.
Great video Allie !!! As someone who is just a couple years into her own recovery, I absolutely loved how you framed this in a positive light! And though talking about calories can be triggering, I think it would be beneficial to have more videos like this and where athletes who are healthily fueling actually show how many calories they eat in a day, so that it becomes more normal to truly fuel!!!
Right! I think sometimes it's okay to think about calories in the context of realizing that you need MORE, and that getting enough is super important and not always easy for athletes. If I did consistently count them, I think people would be surprised by how many I eat a day.
Ok… at the 10 mins mark, I got goose bumps…. Allie, I am soooo damn proud of you! As someone with anorexia as well (but doing ok…ish) I cannot fathom doing that challenge, and I just cannot tell you how proud of you I am. I say I can’t fathom doing that challenge, but at times in the hospital I was on almost as many calories daily, however, it wasn’t some thing I chose, it was a dietician and doctors rules and I didn’t really have to worry about getting the food and myself and making the food myself, etc. so I feel like doing it on your own, like you did is much different and much more of a challenge! And the burning 5000 cal as a smaller woman would have been extremely difficult and I would imagine you were pretty exhausted the next day?? But amazing work and I truly am so impressed and proud of you.❤
You are such an inspiration I am so glad that this challenge was fun for you and while you stated that you don't like counting calories, you still were able to enjoy some amazing food! I loved all your positive energy and thoughts in this video :) Calories are triggering for me I used to always count calories or never ate and it almost cost me my life and I am still trying to retrain my brain into saying food is fuel and not the enemy it is easier said than done but I am hoping that I can get to a place where i'm not afraid to eat more or gain weight! So happy for you and the positive messages that you bring to your videos :) That is awesome that you shin hasn't been hurting much love
thank you :) I really try not to count calories, but I also want to work on knowing how many there are and being okay with it. Nowadays, it's kind of hard to avoid seeing the calorie counts at restaurants, and I don't want that to dictate what I eat or how much I enjoy it!
Thats a lot of exercise and a lot of food and a lot of entertainment. Well done Allie! Love seeing you continue to challenge yourself in creative ways. Mostly glad to hear that the shin is coming around👍
great video, allie! i loved your thoughts about how this challenge enhances skills from recovery. totally agree that not calorie counting is best, but it's also really important to be able to know the calories in food and have that be neutral
Congrats on a successful Challenge "training cycle". Says a lot about how much you've progressed with your mental state. I seriously doubt I could get myself back up off the ground on that AB Wheel..... on the other hand, I can polish off a pint of Ben & Jerry's no sweat, and be looking for more. We all have our natural talents.
As an adult I realize that I was extremely blessed growing up to see my older sister be active and model intuitively eating to adequately fuel her active lifestyle. Watching this reminded me of how we both felt like we needed extra food after the Moab 240 (I was just crewing and pacing) so we ordered and ate a very similar smorgasbord to what you ate here. I honestly felt so much better physically after eating a bunch!
exactly! I think that people, especially female athletes, feel bad for eating what their body craves (especially when it's more than the people around them), but we all need different amounts of food. And sometimes we need a lot..in the form of pizza ;)
Part II : How long were you in the bathroom the next morning, how sore were you, did you feel like eating the next morning after you slept it off? Valuable lesson learned that calorie counting takes all the fun out of everything...glad I never do it!
Excellent and entertaining challenge! I think something like this can be fun when done in the right mindset. Much appreciation for the reflection you did along the way too 👍🏼
This video was so much fun to watch! And I love that you did it because I see these kinds of challenges on men's channels usually! Thanks for doing it 💖 You're awesome!
allie my girl you have gone and done it again a other great video with enjoyable and informative content . great work on the bike hahha it can be so boring you keep doing you cus we love it
That was a very full video! {I remember years ago doing circuit training where I would run a lap and then go to a weight station, run a lap, go to the next weight station, etc.}
Despite the disclaimers you make, I don't see how another of these videos on the Internet is helpful to your audience, or to you, more importantly. I think you'll look back when you are further along in your recovery and regret this, it's just flying too close to the fire. For now I just hope it doesn't set you back. Be careful Allie, guard your recovery fiercely 🙏
That was amazing. Do not know how you could eat that much at night and then sleep. I would have had to get heavy calories in the morning and less at night. But you made it and you delivered a great message about calorie counting and calorie requirements to people.
Hi Allie good morning happy Wednesday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
This is extra tough because you didn’t include BMR in calories burned so you are doing all this exercise in a big deficit for the day. Workin on that mental toughness for sure!
This is not a challenge that seems at all in any way helpful to your recovery. I'm on team "don't try they 10k challenge." ;-) Looks a little like exercise bulimia behavior, although I know this is obviously not your intent. I say this because after my 1st round of treatment and recovery, I argued that this kind of behavior was good in that it "desensitized" me to eating a lot and not being afraid of calorically dense foods. It felt good for it to feel like it was a chore to eat. 10 years later, I realize that I was very wrong and then had new behaviors that I had to break. You are hilarious and I love your content...just hard not to be a little concerned. One day of this behavior is no big deal for a lot of people, but it can be detrimental to someone with an ED. Also, I'm for sure projecting my own issues onto you, AND I also know it is not uncommon for people with EDs to disguise ED behaviors in this way. This is why I share. Feel free to disregard (not that you needed my permission).🙂
Hey, I truly appreciate you sharing your concerns. I think if this was daily behavior, it would certainly be concerning. As I said this was only for the challenge and the video, and not something I regularly do. With that said, I also realize that it’s easy for me to fall into behaviors and create a cost/reward relationship between food and exercise, so I participate in challenges like this infrequently and with extreme caution.
Don't forget your hip thrusts. Plus a super size chunky bar has 650 calories. Three of those spread over the day will add almost 2000 calories and there isn't much volume.
Embrace Butter and Bone Marrow. I think Collagen high fat foods would help if you can tolerate them for calories, hormones, healing gut. I literally bite into butter before my long runs now.
i rly like how we know and have seen u be rly excited abt training but when it becomes abt calories its not as fun cuz maybe it takes the focus away from doing the training for urself and that pure feeling u get after a challenging but rewarding session vs doing it for the calories also ofc u gotta perform the quality control test on the bnjs thems the rules and damn i rly want dominos now hehe
haha the biggest thing I took away from making this video is that you can get 2 2-topping pizzas from dominos for 6.99 each. What a steal! would recommend.
Oh dear - i need to run approximately 70km to burn 5k Calories (from exercice only that is)!! I am impressed… I hope you system could cope well with all the food intake.
Ugh! I can't even imagine trying to eat 5k calories in a day! Now, I have burned 5k+ calories in 24 hours many times in my life, but consuming 5k calories would be nearly inmpossible for me. You are amazing for taking on this challenge.
Super congrats on hitting 5k calories. No way I could do that. I tried a similar thing one day, and I think I got to about 3k and couldn't eat anymore ,LOL!
I think on your resume you are going to have to add right before 3 time NCAA Champion....."Queen of Pancakes"! I know that if you ever wanted to pursue a different career path, there will always be a place at IHOP for you! BTW that Chicken burrito looked awesome! It looks like most of those 1000 burrito calories aside from the tortilla were healthy. Putting 5000 calories in perspective is probably like running 50 miles in a day, or climbing Mt. Whitney with 22 miles of round trip at altitude with a backpack. So that was truly impressive. BTW....you gave a great message that I really hadn't heard before, that one shouldn't feel that they need to earn food, while focusing on exercise as validation to eat really takes away from not only the joy of exercise, as you shared, but of one's happiness with life. When running a marathon, around mile 16 I begin thinking of what gluttonous feast I am going to have for dinner, at least when the Las Vegas Marathon started at 4 pm. I can remember my most disastrous post marathon dining decision....which came after a morning marathon, as even though my stomach was messed up a bit, for some reason I was feeling like Taco Bell. Bad call there! I used to do a spin class the morning after a marathon, basically to freak people out, or.... to stupidly try and impress women? The first two songs were awful, but after that the leg muscles loosened up. 5000 calories burned in one day and a pizza for dinner....Well done Allie O!
But exactly this is what is unhealthy! Food is FUEL not a treat.. and you need to fuel the engine BEVORE you exercise so you have the energy for the Training!!
I did fuel before..during..and after because all are important! And understanding your own body and what foods will feel good to eat before exercise is crucial too. I know that my stomach is somewhat sensitive before activity, so I didn't want to eat too much close to exercising and risk an upset stomach.
She indeed did NOT cap to everyone

Hahah well I personally can conquer the ab wheel and the B&J's, so I guess I'm a special one lol

Very impressive Allie, you flew threw your challenge, you go girl 👍
thank you! It was pretty tough, but I managed to get through!

The eating part would be hard for me just because it's 5000 calories worth. So proud of how far you have come for you to be able to do this challenge.
Great video thanks Allie. Really glad your shin is better now.
Very tough. Congrats on completing and thanks for sharing.
Allie you always make me smile!!
Going to say this in the nicest way...I think it might be time for a new blender 😅
honestly...it's becoming dangerous to use lol
Allie, just watched the WMTRC vertical races...I so want to see you competing in these races. Hope the injury is coming better!

Yeah, for some reason eating close to bed doesn't impact my sleep at all...I know it does for some people, but I've never had a problem!
I’m glad you turned the comments on, now I can leave one. You’re awesome! 🎉🎉🎉
So proud of you
Hi Allie good morning happy Wednesday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Super challenge, I knew you’d do it. Love the food and especially the longer coffee segment 😂
Great video! I really appreciate your thoughts at the end. It took me a long time to figure out that eating is not the reason I train.
The future is all immaculate shins 🙌🏻☮️
oh yes it is!!
I vote next time that Spencer has to burn the 5000 calories and you just get to eat it and watch him!
Allie, enjoyed this challenge. My stomach couldn't handle this one. Can you give that chicken burrito 🌯 recipe please?
the burrito recipe is in the description!
@@allie_ostrander Sorry, I am slow 🦥 😂
loveeee the dino shirt, also wildly impressed
Hi Allie, a bit off topic but what’s the deal with the Blue Turf at Boise State? 😛
Someone might eat a burrito but not have day to work it off so glad you said it’s not the enemy
I was REALLY leery seeing the title, but I think you handled it well. I stopped using MyFitnessPal about 4 months ago.
very impressive, and I like how you put a positive spin on it. I don't think 10k burn would be possible for a smaller athlete. maybe 7k next?
definitely...if this video gets 5k likes ;)
This is extra tough because you didn’t include BMR in calories burned so you are doing all this exercise in a big deficit for the day. Workin on that mental toughness for sure!
Or wait, were you? Now I’m not sure!
Yes, I included it! I just have a lol BMR lol
I feel like Georgie belongs to all of us...but Allie and Spencer have to clean up the shit. :)
awe! he does! and unfortunately we do...he hasn't quite learned how to do that himself lol

OK, this explains the million activities on Strava that day. I was like, "What the hell is she up to today!?"

That burrito looked amazing! I prefer to get my calories that way... a huge bowl of guac over ice cream any day!
I love Georgie’s interest in the massage gun 😂 ❤
I know haha! Like he's not afraid of it, he's just curious
You should try a 10k dessert challenge with all your favourite sweets ❤
I love your energy ❤
thank you!! that is so sweet :)
Your watch alerts you for calories? Which one is it ?
I use the Garmin forerunner 245
LMNT + Syrup?!!! water? how much syrup and water? looks intriguingly delish!!!
I do 1-2T plus half a packet of LMNT in 16 oz of water. So good!
awesome tx!!
I don't know how you exercised that much! The eating part would be the easiest for me 😂
yay!
I was the 1000 like, very interesting video, thank you
way to go!
Just binged on chocolate cake and icecream
Oh dear - i need to run approximately 70km to burn 5k Calories (from exercice only that is)!! I am impressed… I hope you system could cope well with all the food intake.
the system coped well! I didn't have any stomach pain or bloating the next day even!
Those guys doing that 10,000 challenge are either going to be dead or diabetic by 40
Interesting... I would have front loaded the calories... Kind of fueled up in order that I had the energy to do the workouts 🤔
yeah, I was just afraid of my stomach getting upset..might do it differently if I tried it again.

3 days recovery on the garmin😭😭
I do this challenge every Saturday.
this is not a good challenge for you
She's not doing it everyday, so I think she's alright.
Not sure I see any positive value to you in ever doing a 10,000 calorie challenge. Seems like a form of food dysfunction.
you may find it weird and challenging, but that's just what the average american eats on a daily basis.
Love the video, just please use a less loud dinging please 😊
noted!
The dinosaur shirt is leet .

750 calories for pancakes? 😮
