Just another little tip/technique for gathering: Use a wide zigzag stitch over dental floss, then you just pull the floss to form the gathers, super quick and easy ;)
Any one that sews needs a hinterland and a box of buttons in their life! x

You made me smile about the the buttons. You’re so sweet and I love how you share any little mistakes, it makes me feel better about mine. The dress looks lovely as a pinafore style.

I love how you talk to all of us: "new or coming back to sewing". I fall under the coming back group, and you're right, I was really lacking in confidence at first. The online sewing community has been so warm and encouraging and helpful! I loved your button sorting memory! My buttons are not vintage, but as I dumped them out to rummage for a project, I absolutely couldn't keep myself from sorting them! 😀 Beautiful pinafore by the way! I love how the turquoise top goes with it! 🥰

Beautiful as always. I love your videos. I have coffee while I watch them and I always feel like I’ve had a chat with a friend. 😊

A pinafore with that pattern looks great! I remember wearing lots of jumpers (us terms) as a youth, and I’m like you I would wear that over a blouse and skirt. Turquoise looksGREAT on you Jayne!

I enjoyed your sewing vlog and the story of putting Nana's buttons together on a string of wool. Happy sewing, stay well and happy!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane with the button tin at Nan's. She used to ask me to put her buttons in sets, like you, with wool and needle. What I didn't know was as soon as I left she would cut the wool!! 😁 So no, you are not alone.
Nice dress. I have that pattern on my pile to make! Maybe I will now 😊

Love your dress. The colours are gorgeous and really suit you! Loved your button tale. I'm exactly the same...all my button sorted and the same ones tied together.

Thank you for telling us about this pattern. I've downloaded it and wanted to make it up in coral pincord but as so often when you have a particular fabric in mind, I couldn't find it and ended up with turquoise baby cord with white arrows! Not sure what to wear with it now, other than a white tshirt. I'm cutting hhe bodice on the fold because well buttonholes and I prefer a smoother front personally on me. I don't know what it is about them but I don't much like wearing buttons.

I made this dress at the end of last summer and like you I was really pleased with it 😊! I also made the sleeveless version and quite a few sleeveless tops ( which I lengthened ) I haven’t yet put in many pockets but did find it fairly straightforward. I wish I had put the belt on as it was quite bulky at the back ? Someone suggested elastic which is what I used. But it’s had good wear. Love your fabric.

I’ve had the Hinterland dress in my collection for over a year and have it on my summer plans (again lol!) Your version is fabulous the colours really suit you! Thanks for the gathering tape idea - I usually use elastic but will definitely give the tape a go❤️❤️

Cute jumper! The fabric is really pretty, I would assume using the iron on tape for gathering would or will make the gathers more even??!!! Looking forward to trying it out!! Great vlog

Hi Gina yes they do make good even gathers and the thread is really strong for pulling which is better than it snapping which happens quite a lot with normal thread x

Lovely hinterland dress. In the US they call it a jumper. They call what you call jumpers here sweaters or pullovers or sweatshirts...
