I made the terrible mistake of buying a "We The People" holster for my P95DC. There are so few IWB options for that model, so i compromised. Turns out, the holster sucked like everyone says. It had ZERO retention. The thing fell right out....UNTIL! Until i watched your video and tightened up the trigger guard. UH MAZIN'! Thanks, man!~
@@hugostiglitz9864 My heat gun is probably 30 years old. It has 2 temps: Hot & Hotter! I just used the low setting and kept it moving like he shows in the video. Turned out well
Cool video! Thanks for showing us how to do this. I have a new kydex holster for my S&W 10mm and I'm not satisfied with the retention, especially when held upside down. I'll give this a try.
I reshaped a Safariland 6360-83, from glock 17 to 1911 :) Both the ALS and SLS are working fine, just a muzzle is slightly protruding in front but barrely noticable ;)
@@JS-pz8yp well, the adjusting mechanism is too forward for the trigger guard so a piece of kydex would be recommended to prevent the gun from dropping too low. Remove ALS first, of course, you need to heat it in order to reshape the catch from rectangular to more rounded narrowed look, so it could catch properly. I think it's ABS so be careful not to melt it. You may need to dremel it if any sharp edges left from reshaping. SLS is basically good, I removed that little tab protruding to the back in order to be able to lock a cocked gun ;) so in general, 1911 is narrower than squared striker so you remove the guts (ALS and tightening mechanism) heat it and gently press it. General shape stayed and just a piece of kydex added to the tightening mechanism and that's it. I'm hoping this was helpful :)
@@dangubas Thank you, you mentioned a couple of things that I hadn't thought of. It's not the easiest holster to reshape although it's coming out pretty decent, I don't think the end result is going to meet my expectations though. Thanks again.
Snake Doc, Thank you very much for this very helpful tip. I have a few questions though. Could you turn a non-light-bearing to a light-bearing holster with this method? If you have, have you ever done it before? Could you demonstrate it in a video, please? Thank you very much in advance.
I've been trying to Get a Holster for my SAR 9 that will Accept the Laser I have on it but can't find one so I've been thinking of Reshaping one that I have
What about adding a crimson trace laser im assuming ill have to take a tool or my gloved finger and smooth out the mold so it has room. Have a taurus g2c with a crimson trace cmr - 201 railmaster.
@@DCopp I had no idea polymer had glass strands in it. Like fiber glass? One of these days I'll get into 3d printing. Just found some of your pol 80 videos. U have a great catalog
After some research seems ur kinda partly correct. There is glass stranded nylon framed pistols, but MUCH more common is straight polymer which has zero glass fibers added. As to the melting temp of polymer, I just don't know, hence my question

I have the same problem with a holster for my Performance Center Shield 45. What temperature setting did you use?

This appears to work quite well. Kudos to you Sir. Cheers!

I am about to reshape a Safariland 6360 from a M&P 40 to a 1911. Any suggestions or Warnings you may have learned, would be helpful and appreciated.

Galloway makes a nice trigger for the smith and wesson. I have it in mine.
Gonna try this on a We The People holster. I have a Girsan MCP35 PI Ops that almost fits a 4 inch railed 1911 holster.
can you do this with your pistol light attach?
This helped me fix my holster which was engaging my laser 2/3 times, would've been a great feature if it engaged it 3/3 times haha. Thanks.

Depends on how much spare kydex is there on the mold and how big your weapon light is.
From a Glock to a Sauer to a SW. Whats next? A Daisy?
There's many levels until daisy. Taurus, hipoint..
I was thinking the same thing!! 🤣 😂
Thought the same thing. Like dang…. The SV40 is the high point of S&W 😂
Squeeze just at the very front of the trig gaurd u dont wanna squeeze to far into trig gaurd and make holster pull trigger
Kind of. Not sure the holster could depress the trigger safety...
@@DCoppOnly on way to find out 😂
Good idea - thanks for sharing :)
Thanks Jerry. Sorry this week didn't work out. I've been under the weather and didn't want to share 😉

Maybe

sold the SAR9?
Yep
Aren't u concerned about melting the polymer on the frame?
Lol, no. Frames are glass reinforced and much much higher melt point

I can't believe you cheated that a 2nd time with the pistol still in it LOL 😮
The VE model has a horrible trigger. Maybe you can fix that with the heat gun😂😂😂😂 I like the M&P though. Night and day trigger
I use the Wesbaun spring kit in the VE and it's amazing
