Im French and dream about visiting the Sawth of the US . I love the simple life and to meet authentic straight forward people. I know many French tourists prefer to visit other places but I have always supported the Southerners and great places and nice people there. I just have the impression they look like me. All simply.

There were four, count em four Native tribe's living in what is now called Alabama. They we're the Creek, Cherokee, Choctaw, and Chickasaw and if I remember my history correctly the name or word Alabama, means land of many waters.
Furthermore, and this is what we pride ourselves on, Alabama (The state, not the university) has 21 National Championships, 38 Conference Championships and 4 Heisman Trophy winners.
No good universities, the highest high school drop out rate, lowest education level and literacy rate of the Union. Not to mention racism, homophobia, prejudice and incest.
No one brought diseases, diseases rode on humans. Small pox etc would have arrived one way or the other. Disease did to the native population of Alabama exactly what disease did to other populations all over the world.

My great-grandmother lived to be a hundred and six and was full-blooded Cherokee. I guess they didn't kill all of us off, did they?
