Updating to material 3 has been tedious… the toolbar that no longer supports theme colors is just crazy… Also, material 3 adoption is extremely incomplete, not even the angular material page respects material 3 guidelines…

had no issue with update and happy with it overall BUT agree when it comes to components not following material 3 guidelines - anoying, cause at this point one can not be sure what to follow - is m3 guidlines not completed for web implementation or angular material that don't follows the guidliness(like mentioned)??? -.-

So the toolbar used to be hooked into the M2 themeing and had it applied and no longer does? I wonder if you can tweak it with the new M3 design tokens globally

Yes, I'm facing the same issue with tool bar after update

Dude I thought I am going crazy because of the toolbar theming. Good to know I am not the only one.

I'm pleased that M3 has finally come to Angular, but the M2 -> M3 upgrade process is immensely frustrating as the documentation is either absent or just unhelpful. I mean, even simple things like setting a custom background colour? Not documented.

yes, making custome theme is very frustrating and I'm unable to do by following official documenation

In material theming documentation they should include the toggling theme example which should be non opinionated. It will help implementing these features more faster and feasible

I started a new angular 18 project. I've followed the guides to get Material 3 working and it's a friggin nightmare. Honestly you guys need to better with the documentation. The docs look simple but nothing works and there's no clear indicators on how to troubleshoot. I install using ng add as per the instructions and none of the modules can be found in imports even though I can see them in the packages.

The key word is "strive"! But the goal is constantly faster moving forward and the striving is endless! And in general, for me it's a swear phrase: "what are you like Angular Material!"

The Material Theming "documentation" is an absolute disgrace 👎 👎 👎 I wouldn't even go as far as calling it "documentation". It's rather just a very badly written blog.

Worst UI framework, stuck in early 2010s with horrible documentation and nightmare to update between versions.

Can you give us some details about your update? You don't have to go into depth, but can you share which versions you experienced trouble with going between? 14-18? 17-18? Something else? Also, do you think the updated documentation on angular.dev is still horrible? Would love to get more feedback so we can continue to improve, thanks Alex!

@@Angular I find it hard to navigate through documentation. No search available. API reference is not clear with no examples. No clear theming guide or upgrade guide. angular material no support for tailwind. Please check the Radix UI for reference of how proper Docs site for UI library should look like. Hope this helps

Material is a nice metaphor, but Bootstrap is still my go to css framework.
