If you find a pair in person you will find that they do not project well. There are many options available on the market that are 10 times better than these BUT may be harder to find. For example pan con queso maracas and anything made in Colombia. 👍🏻
My comment is about the maracas NOT Marcos (one of the best players and one of my favorite percussionists) but the maracas themselves leave a lot to be desired. While they are robustly constructed they do not project well. The “dry” sound of these paracas does not resemble any of the maracas that have been considered legendary (pan con queso, CP, Harlem Campos) etc. If the chambers were more open and the fill material used were changed (round black and white beads used in LP wah wah shaker) they might hold up against everything else that’s on the market.
Also the thickness of the skin should be reduced 1-1.5 millimeters. The thickness drowns out the projection of what could have been great maracas. I think these sell partly because of the difficulty of coming across maracas from South America.

I’m not sure if it’s the fill material or the rawhide or both, but LP’s salsa rawhide maracas sound THE BEST to my ear.
