  • This video shows the carb cleaning of a Husqvarna 225L Weed Trimmer. I don't do as many carb videos as I used to but this video shows me actually taking my time and going a bit slower. If there are any issues about how the diaphragm goes in here is a link to the Zama site. Thanks to jj parody for catching this

Me too. I don't do that many 2 strokes any more just because of the pulling close to my body.

Scott Martorelli : I’m not happy with my 129C at all. I bought it less than a year ago at Lowe’s; always used Husqvarna brand canned gas (no ethanol), but now it won’t start. I wish I had purchased an Echo.

+Laura B. All it needs is probably a simple carburetor cleaning. Just for the heck of it try something that i noticed works on hard starting 2-cycle engines. Take the spark plug out put 4 drops of 30W oil down the hole put the plug back in and see if it starts don't know why but i have gotten so many hard starting engines to actually run that way. If that works great if not its going to need a carburetor cleaning.

I noticed that you placed the metering diaphragm first against the carb body then the gasket. According to Zama (and Walbro), the gasket is placed first on the carb body, then the diaphragm. Here is a link to Zama's site: www.zamacarb.com/carburetors/641
But, I guess it doesn't matter because you got that engine running great.
BTW, how old do you think that Husqvarna (Husk varna ... only two syllables) is? I was given a 30 year old Echo that I fixed up and it runs super. Amazing how the design on the cube style carbs has changed so little over three decades!

You are right!!! Well I checked back at 8:47. Funny thing is runs great. Now this video is a year old. Maybe I switch it later but i am going to check it and I WILL get back to you and enter a correction. By the way that is a great diagram.

On the metering side, I believe the gasket goes against the body and the metering diaphragm goes next to the cover?

The Swedes pronounce it Hoosk-Varna. The Americans seem to add a syllable, pronouncing it Husk-A-Varna.

Nice I have the same Husqvarna 225l but the year on mine is 1998. I know that I took mine apart and I need a new flywheel, piston rings. The last time I had it running the shaft wasn't spinning while engine was running and the engine would die at idling speeds..

There is a centrifugal clutch in there. also adjust he low and high on the carb. . It may need more as you know. Keep at it.
