The glass is holding up well. It should be cleaned between cooks. You can use water while it it still warm, after a cook. You can also use a little soap and water the spray soap works really well, just rinse it well to remove the soap.
I don't find it to be flimsy. It is put together with screws, and they may need some tightening on the model you saw in the store. This model does have some additional support bars in the cabinet to help support the weight of the firebox. I have moved my grill several times, and have never felt it buckle or sway.

I agree. The previous model was very flimsy and stained very easily from weather elements.
