Social Security is not an entitlement. I earned that money and the government took it and said it would give it back to me when I'm old. That's not an entitlement.
@ Welfare is an entitlement. You can qualify for Welfare and if you qualify, you are entitled to get money, food stamps etc. That's not the same as the government taking a portion of your pay with the intent to give it back to you when you turn 62 or 67 or whatever the age is for retirement. Not the same type of program.
@ I think it's possible there is a disconnect because there are people that collect social security that never worked or contributed to the program. That could be why it's under the Entitlements heading. It's not managed the same way as all other government programs. Consider this: You have normal taxes and then you have a specific "Social Security Tax." It a program for one specific thing and you pay money into it with the agreement you'll get it back when you retire. Our normal tax dollars go to all kinds of things and we never will see that money again. It's meant to be spent on whatever the government decides to spend it on. Not Social Security. We know exactly where it goes. They can send you a statement and it will tell you how much you have put into the Social Security fund for "your" retirement. It's just completely different. Hope that helps clarify.
@@marshalbaek5580 You’re right. Welfare is a conditional entitlement while social security is an unconditional entitlement. If you don’t qualify for welfare you aren’t entitled to it. The difference is that all Americans who make income are unconditionally entitled to social security. They are just two different types of entitlements. But that doesn’t mean social security is not an entitlement just because the two are different.

When corporate suits are allowed to set their own price on what they want to pay for Social Security and Medicare taxes instead of using their ACTUAL salary…this is what we get.
Trump also during his regime in 2016 through 2020 allowed corporations to write off their entire bizjet fleet on their taxes. And we all know they use them for their family vacations to their second and third homes. All while complaining to American workers how they can’t afford to give pay raises and premium benefits.
@DevilTravels interesting, you mean like Afghanistan or Irak, or Palestine or Libya. Or maybe Guatemala or Chile, maybe Myanmar or perhaps Vietnam. None of those military campaigns have done anything useful for the US let alone world peace. What is true, is that in all of those campaigns, young Americans have paid with their lives to fill the pockets of the US military complex, for example Donald Rumsfeld and Tony Blair.
Raise the Social Security limit on the people who make more than 200,000 a year. In fact all corporate profit should be taxed. Even if it is reinvested. Here's a question. Is now an ideal time to sell a home? In my neighborhood, Philly metro, homes are going for $150K to $225K over what we paid in this neighborhood in 2011. And they don't last on the market more than three or four days at those prices. If rent and home prices are going to be lower in the next administration, is this the best time to sell at an inflated value?
YES. Because people will be moving some other country and therefore it won't be a high demand on housing, so the prices are gonna be lower. Now it will be a good time to sell your house and move some place else.

Tariff's are probably going to be a bargaining chip more then anything else. Tariff's on China will be aimed at EV's and cars as American companies can't produce affordable vehicles anymore that people want. It won't fix the issue, it'll just slow it down.
