  • The supposed “severity” of our doctrine should not result in us having pinched faces, downcast glances, and shuffling guilty feet. Our doctrines are sharp and severe, but only in the way a surgeon’s scalpel is sharp. The cancerous tumor he will remove is soft, and malleable, and warm-and it will kill us. The scalpel is cold, and hard, and sharp. Don’t be a child in your thinking. If God is kind, and you have your wits about you, you will walk out of the hospital overflowing with gratitude and gladness.

This is amazing when he read the section about not rejoicing and being glad I was convicted paused the video ,got on my knees(now with joy and thanks for exposing my sin futhermore) , confessed my sinful pride asked for forgiveness and gave thanks. This is something the LORD has been brewing in me for a while (plenty more sin were that came from ) I've observed undercurrents of the glee for the LORDS sovereignty and even watched his sons(N.D. Wilson) thing on Chesterton and calvin but this video being quick and clear really did a number on me I give thanks for the brothers and sisters at christ church God bless!

A local Pastor said something in his sermon last week that was rather poignant... Not all are even capable of comprehending truth, regardless of being receptive of it. "The Truth as he said is HARD, but we must not let it harden us." Both in our approach and efforts, persevere we must I might add...

@@thelastquincy1457 Many conservative presbyterians tend to be very bookish, and instead of revelling in God's sovereignty, they become argumentative with people that disagree with their theology.Trusting in a sovereign God should make you more winsome, not sour puss quarrelsome. Hope that helps.

    Irony when it strikes hot
"There was a young man named Spurgey
    Who didn’t like our liturgy
    But his sermons were fine
    So I make them mine
As do all of the Anglican clergy."
    Witty joyful Doug
    Sprung up some old Chesterton
    Dusting off Lewis
    Because doug is rusty
    Yet blinding irony
From that poem he writes about Spurgey
    Heated iron is swung
    At the tendon that grips
    Watch the hypocrisy from lips
He does the same as what Anglicans have done

Actually, Deuteronomy chapters 28 through 30 is a "prophecy" given by Moses for the coming lifespan of the Jewish people.
Every marker that we later hear in detail in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Zechariah, and Malachi is touched by Moses in these passages.
We open the books of history to see them ALL fulfilled in crystalline detail, right up until LAST WEEK, and we rest in full assurance
that the words of Jesus in the synoptics and John in his vision will rise up also to meet the encroaching events that are now upon us.

Yet another explanation why the church in America and in the West cannot survive an amillennial eschatology. Pessimism breeds cowards and quitters.

I prefer Pauline Calvinism. The doctrines of Grace are Gospel doctrines, people who do not confess and indeed attack them are not Christians, its that simple, to think otherwise is absurd. If it walks like an Arminian and talks like an Arminian its not a Calvinist, to think anything else is quackery. The Holy Spirit leads us to make true confessions of the gospel not false ones. If you really want to see the Gospel soar over this land, defend the Sovereignty of the Holy Spirit and his ability to lead people to believe AND Confess the true Gospel, if you don’t do this you are promoting Theological relativism and undermining the truth of the Gospel, by denying the clarity of the Gospel and the Sovereign power of the Holy Spirit to lead people to confess the Truth.
