First, Kenya is one of the few countries that uses a Christian (edit: many have clarified in the comments that is a Kenyan prayer) hymn as its national anthem. Which came as a surprise to me. Second, as one who is Indian in origin, the influence of India on Kenya was also quite surprising. Chapati, Samosa, Bhaji... I could not believe my ears when this Kenyan pastor's kids were referring to their food with Indian words. Turns out, we a lot more in common than meets the eye! We both love Kenya, and I hope to visit Kenya. Soon, I pray! Edit: Thanks to all who clarified that the Kenyan national anthem is not a Christian hymn, but rather a Kenyan prayer. But, it inspires, never the less.
