You don't need those fancy (and *expensive!*) spherical sponges. You can do the same thing with a cheap cosmetic wedge that you can get 10 or 20 for a dollar at any dollar or discount store. I suppose they are one pound stores where you live, though.
calichef1962 I’ve used the wedge sponges and I always have an issue with the little pieces of the sponge getting on the nails. Like, since the gel is so sticky, it rips little pieces of the sponge and is annoying to try to get off.
I am so glad that I am not the only one who is a spaz with the ombre brushes, it just doesn't happen for me. This method is so nice, thank you, thank you
Omg, this is my first time watching your videos and I really loved it! Thanks for this great tip. I'm going to do my nails on my own for the first time tomorrow and this video will 100% come in handy!
This does look amazingly easy! Only downside I can see is for ladies like me who don't use the long artificial nails, but rather have medium to long natural nails, and that downside is that it will definitely require the peelable latex on the skin around the nail, or you'll have a real mess to clean up. But this is definitely something to try, since I'm NUTS for the ombre effect, and have all the necessary materials (peelable latex, those small sponges, and a palette on which to smudge the color around). I've had fair to middling success with the ombre brushes, but find them unwieldy, since the long strands tend to glop up with color. This method here looks easy enough to make it worth the extra step of the latex around the nail. Also, any thoughts -- from anyone who might be reading this! -- on the fat "oblique french" to create the ombre effect? I've tried it once, and it was easier than the wispy ombre brushes. May I suggest a video on the use of that brush? I've searched thoroughly for videos or even pics of the use of those fat oblique brushes, and have found VERY little.

I’ve not heard of gel paste before, can you just use normal gel colour on the sponge or does it have to be a paste? Just purchased some of these sponges so looking forward to having a play. Your video was really good x
Gorgeous ombre I have been after this for quite a while but it's so expensive I can't do gel ombre either with the brush method it ain't happening so may have to invest in this kit xx
Daniel Boss I don’t think the items are expensive individually. I would just recommend buying the bits you need instead of the whole kits hun. I buy their detail brushes for just over £4 each. Xx
Me too!!! Ive been practising with gel and acrylics.... my acrylics are about 6 inches thick before i end up throwing it at the wall and grabbing a large g&t!.... the struggle was real.... but no more!! Mwah xx
Wow that looks super easy. I wonder how easy it would be to do it on your non dominant hand. I love baby boomer/ombré but I do my own hard gel nails (only acrylic techs in my town) and I’m too scared to try it Incase I muck it up. Thanks for sharing 🌸🐨🌸
It's just nail polish. It comes off easily enough. If you don't like the results you're getting just wipe it away before curing. If it's cured and you don't like it, use your regular method to remove it, soaking or filing off. Yeah, you might need another coat of top coat, but so what? It's not a big deal. It's just nail polish.
Ye I just tried makes up sponge and it didn’t work. 🤣 I was so excited ... anyway I ordered those sponges on eBay some cheap ones . I’m going to use one for black and another for white as I don’t think I can wash with water easily
Hi. So I tried this today for the first time, because my acrylic ombre was a fail. However, this was a fail for me too. It looks ok, but if you look closely, you can see the porous sponge effect. Do you think it's because I need a thicker white gel or do I need to do more coats? TIA 😊 I wish I could include a photo to show you what I mean.
Where do you get the sponges hunni plus awesome stuff plus thanks again for checking my pics out on ig yesterday hunni thanks again I always put myself down but I surprise my self sometimes lol xx
Will this work for shorter natural nails? My nais are not short, but not nearly as long as these tips. I worry about it getting all over my skin with the sponge.

You are a freaken life saver!!!!!! I’ve being scared of Ombré for so long and never works! This is perfect and brilliant thank you!!!!
Glad I could help!

Totally love it. I am just getting into gel polish. I am a dip girl but flipping to gel
This makes so much sense. I used to paint clouds in the sky with a sponge (on canvas). You can’t get any better than clouds, whispy, soft.
Thank you so much! I’ve always wondered how to do ombré nails so I decided to yt it now I know!! I can’t wait to do Christmas ombré nails!!

This is stellar, my darling! In fact, dare I say, I think it even looks slightly BETTER and more seamless than a usual ombre fade.

I can't do ombres and baby boomers with gel polishes either. I've tried and tried. However, I DO have pigments! So much easier.😊
ah yeah good idea!
Hi!! Sucks that I just found this comment have you figured out how to do it with gel polish yet? If not I have a tip for you.
Very pretty 💕
Thank you xx
This is awesome! When i try to do this method with this same method same round smonge that u have i get bobbles on the nails idk y 😩
Beauty By Suzy try topcoating, then lightly buff, then topcoat. That might get rid of the bumps xx
When you get those little bubbles tap them lightly with the end of the sponge and they go away

It’s madam glam.

I have one of those sponge thingies n I luv it... I just wonder if my born pretty stamping gel would work the same?
You can purchase gel paint in a tube from Crystal Nails which works great, in case the born pretty stuff doesn't work for you.
shihtzuluvr two thanks 😉
This product has mma as the first ingredient so i would be careful when using this on me or others!
How long should i cure it between each step - 30 seconds or 60 seconds ?
Very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Can you use normal gel polish with the sponge instead of gel paint?
You may have to do more layers, depending on the pigmentation. xx
Hi. What is the link to order the kit from please xx
I use refuse to do it with gel as well I have been trying to get it down
lovely ..nails
Will this work for shorter natural nails? My nais are not short, but not nearly as long as these tips. I worry about it getting all over my skin with the sponge.
Just use a peel off product around the skin to protect it, like a peel off base coat or some companies market it as a protective brush on product. :)
Can we do with the same process using the normal nail paint🤔??
I dont know hun
@@NailsbySarahBurchett thank you for the reply ❤️
Could you use a beauty blender for the same method?
possibly, I haven't tried it. I guess it would work if the density of the blender was right and it was nice and soft.
Thanks for this video
No problem
Are this sponge reusable?.. Can you wash em with spirit??
I think it degrades the sponges xx

Beautiful tfs 💜💖💜

Can i use this stick and doit with regular gel polish and not that paint stick you used?
Where did you buy that stick please
Ohhhh lala!
Would this work with red and black gel polish?
yes, you just need to build it up gradually xx
does this leave little small circles like with normal nail polish?
I didn't notice any, but if you ever get that, the top coat will cover it. It is probably due to the type of sponge not being dense enough
oh okay, thanks❤❤❤
I have a similar sponge tool (although haven't tried it yet) - it there a way of cleaning after use?
Not that I know of hun x

does it have to be a gel paint or can it be a gel polish?
