    Hi there! I just have to say I love your videos. I am a student nurse and I originally came across your video on G-tubes and I can't stop watching. Thank you for sharing so much of your life with everyone, and your video about living with a chronic illness and body issues was absolutely inspiring! I deal with illness that is more of a mental issue but everything you said resonated with me. Again, thank you so much for sharing all that you do! You are inspiring!

      Hey, glad to have you! Thank you for watching my videos, it makes me so happy to know that there is a future nurse who will now know just that much more about these conditions. Having the right nurse is probably one of the most important things to me during a hospital stay. They truly become your friends and family

    I found you after i got diagnosed with EDS and I've learned sooooooo much and I love that you do these videos! My doctor didn't really know anything about EDS and told me to look up stuff online and join online communities and so watching your videos is amazing because I can learn so much about everything and they make me feel a lot less alone with my condition, so thank you so much Christina! Maybe you can talk more to your cardiologist about the port by bringing up how much water can help with relieving pressure on joints and everything like that because sometimes it takes bringing up what they hadn't thought about to help sway them.

      +Dana Max Im so glad that you found me! I make these videos because I wish I gad them when I was diagnosed. So it makes me happy to hear when they help. Thats a good point about the water! Thanks! I did aqua therapy a bit before and it was good. Swimming is a good exercise for bad joints. I don't want to force the port conversation if she's really uncomfortable, but I just feel like it would better fit my lifestyle

    That henna looked like mud to me so that's pretty cool that it actually dyes your hair. I also shrieked inside when I saw your MacBook above all of that water lol. Glad to hear that whole regurgitation wasn't anything unexpected too! Congrats on 1k subs!

    Hi Christina, I am a new subscriber as well and I really enjoy your videos. I don't have EDS but I am in the nursing field and hopefully will be going to school for LPN in September. I am learning alot from you and you are helping me understand and introduce me to different things.

      Thats awesome! Best of luck in your schooling! Having the right nurse honestly makes all the difference during a hospital stay or doctors visit. I know that my nurses have truly become my friends and family. I hope to show through these videos that patients really are people too and we may have some things that complicate us, but we do still have a life outside of the hospital

    I am a water person too! Plus the water helps us EDSers so much! I don't blame you for wanting a port. Hopefully in May she'll be more for it. Do you go out of state for your Cardiologist too?

      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kerry Sheehan Some people just don't understand us water people lol. I would never go to a beach and just lay in the sun, that would be torture. Luckily my cardio is in state! Its so nice to have her so close. Its almost weird to me how easy it is.

    There are things you can use in your hair to lighten it that aren't hair bleaches, if you really want to. lemon juice, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, certain teas, etc etc

    • @christinadoherty3212
      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm I will keep that in mind for the future. Is it damaging to the hair?

    • @leahdavis9434
      @leahdavis9434 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, and you can mix it with conditioner or coconut oil to make sure the hair doesn't dry out

    Hi Christina! I enjoy your upbeat videos! They cheer me up. Who do I see for a tilt table test? I think I have pots but my family doctor doesn't know anything about it to refer me. Any help in getting this diagnosed would be helpful! Thank you so much! Kathy

    • @christinadoherty3212
      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Kathy! I tilt table test would likely be performed through a cardiologist although I have heard of neurologists ordering them as well. I would probably start with cardiology though if you can get a referral

    I had a port and was supposed to have it in for at least a year, but because my skin just sucks at everything the skin over my port ripped and then had to get it taken out right away. The port was nice for the five months it lasted but if you have super fragile skin it might happen. Also after getting my port put in, it took weeks for me to get back to my normal. I am all for ports but if you get one be sure to watch for the skin tearing.

    • @christinadoherty3212
      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Brianna Lewis Thanks so much for the tip! Its good to know. I do have fairly fragile skin, it does heal up but some of my scars have gotten quite wide. Sorry it didn't last for you! And also thanks for the heads up about the procedure. I kind of expect that, our bodies hate anesthesia/procedures. Hope you are well, thanks again 💕

    This reminded me to get a follow up with my cardiologist. He put me on fludrocortisone for my POTS and it's helping a bunch but I'm having so many side effects. I think I'm going to bring up IV saline therapy when I see him next, but I don't know how to bring it up

    • @christinadoherty3212
      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Hayley White Florinef can be great but its good you are following up with your cardio. You have to be careful since it can drop your potassium. Its not always easy to bring up IV hydration, every doctor seems to feel differently about it. I recommend just being straightforward but open to his opinion on it. "Im not sure im totally happy with my current POTS management. The florinef is helping but I am having a lot of side effects. I have heard that some people have luck with IV saline therapy. Do you think that could be beneficial in my case?"

  • @ecologist_to_be
    @ecologist_to_be 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wish they'd do IV fluids for POTS etc here. No idea how I'm meant to drink this much water with all my other issues lol they do offer it in very rare circumstances but supposedly infection risk is higher than any possible benefit lol

    • @christinadoherty3212
      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems to be pretty rare for doctors to prescribe it for POTS, I guess you are right, the infection risk is a real danger. In my case we maxed out absolutely everything they could think of and I was still fainting 5-6 times a day and ending up in urgent care once a week for fluids. I think they just got tired of me XD. But I think its kind of a shame that it isn't more widely used since it really does make a huge difference.

    Can EDS cause bone problems such as frequent stress fractures?

    • @christinadoherty3212
      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +A Wojcik Yes it can although it is one of the slightly less common symptoms. EDS is a disorder of the collagen and that can affect the bones plus we tend to have a hard time absorbing important nutrients for bone health like vitamin D and calcium. But there is also something called osteogenesis imperfecta which is also a collagen disorder (so it causes loose joints and muscles) but it is known for making the bones very brittle and fracture very easily. If you are having issues with fracturing and other symptoms I would definitely recommend seeing a geneticist. They are the ones who can help you to figure out what exactly is going on

    MA GAWD. Are you saying you found a treatment that actually works for POTS/dysautomnia?! 😰

    • @christinadoherty3212
      @christinadoherty3212  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vera Waters Well my dysautonomia is pretty well managed now but it does take a lot to get me here. Its been years of balance but with a betablocker, midodrine, florinef, desmopressin, steroids (that are actually prescribed for something else), and IV saline I am pretty well functional POTS wise.
