I so enjoyed your talk. I am 74 years old and I specialize in the treatment of survivors especially sexual abuse. I received my undergraduate degree from our Lady of the holy Cross college in New Orleans and my graduate degree in psychotherapy from Tulane University graduate school of social work at the age of 39. It was an advanced degree. As a Catholic when I was 24 years old I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit which was transformative in that I experienced an amazing relationship with the Holy Spirit who brought me into an in-depth study of the word of God. In 1980 I prayed a prayer “God take me into the depths of you I want to know you like no one has ever known you” and He brought me to work for a minister who had just received a doctorate degree in marriage and family therapy. He was a baptist pastor for 25 years Who had also received the baptism in the Holy Spirit well the Baptist do not believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit so he got excommunicated if you will. He took it as an opportunity to go back to school because he realized as a pastor he was not equipped to handle all of the emotional, psychological mental needs of his parishioners. During that time that I worked for him from 1980 to 198 The Lord, as the answer to the prayer I prayed in 1980 he brought me into the depths of my own self to heal of severe trauma which I had dissociated. Through deep therapy I experienced I learned the necessary integration of working with and through the power of the Holy Spirit as well as depth psychology. Sadly, the church at large is deeply remiss of understanding how to address trauma and heal trauma both spiritually and psychologically. Also, sadly much of the new age has entered both the church and the field of psychology. I would love to suggest these books- Healing the wounded Spirit by John and Agnes Sanford and Transformation of the inner man by the same author’s, as well as, Healing the child within by Dr. Charles Whitefield also Born to Win by Muriel James and Dorothy Jongeward and for even deeper intimate experience with the Lord- The Song of the Bride by Madame Jean Gyuon. God bless you. Jesus is our wounded healer and causes us to be overcomes rather than survivors. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus the Bible says
Where on Earth did you get mistaken notion that Baptists don’t have baptism in the Holy Spirit? I am so sick and tired of you Biblically illiterate Catholics spouting off nonsense under the guise of true religion. Did you not even stop to think of baptism and Baptist?
Father, i need your advice. Please help me. My mother is a narcissist. She is dependent on me and lives with me in the same house where i live with my husband and a kid. I am considering distancing myself from my narcissistic mother. I have no siblings or anyone so if I have to distance myself from her, I have to put her in an old age home. I constantly struggle with my conscience and need an advice from you whether I'm doing the right thing. Almost 2 years ago i decided to implement certain boundaries which she would frequently try to violate. For example, i do not want her to interact with my daughter, but she wouldn't stop. My prayer life is constantly disturbed as i have to let her know that im aware that she is not abiding by the rules. Please tell me if moving her from me would be the right thing to do? I do not wish to become guilty in God's eyes. We frequently have arguments and they become ugly because her tongue is the bitterest there can be. She curses me and threatens to humiliate me before everyone.
Hello sister,, I pray Christ blesses you in this struggle. I am not a priest so please talk to your priest as he will be able to give you proper pastoral guidance as you’re a member of his parish and in community with his parish. However, sister, please take hope in our Lord’s deep mercy and grace and love for you and your whole family. Whatever choice you make with your mother is not a judgment against you unless you believe for certain (and how rare that is) that God is asking you to carry this cross (keeping your mother in house). There is a spectrum of ways to approach this circumstance, but no matter how you approach it, there will be suffering, and in that suffering is the grace and deifying glory of our Lord. Please hear my heart when I say this: the Lord does not desire to remove your discomfort and pain, He desires for you to be reborn in the suffering, because it is in suffering that we are catechized and become like Him. Without death there is no resurrection, and this situation is a gift of death in the hope that Christ can share with you a little more of the glory of His resurrection. There will always be more opportunity if this is too much for you to endure. He loves you and desires your whole heart. How often we neglect Him when our life is comfortable and conflict free and yet how often we run to Him when we are afraid and in pain. I’m so sorry this season and struggle has been so painful for you. I pray the Lord blesses your struggle.
