I believe Hoid, being ancient; goes where he thinks interesting things will be happening. If I was thousands of years old, I would find everyday life mundane so if someone says, “Hey! Have you seen what’s happening on Roshar?” I’d go check it out...
I think Mistborn would do really good on the silver screen... but I think (because there's just sooooooo much) that Stormlight would be a better TV series
Totally agree. Stormlight Archives could be the next Game Of Thrones - but with more magic and less sex. Haha. Just as much/more action and political intrigue though. My only concern would be it getting the big budget and top-tier CGI and set designers.required. World-class quality or nothing, you know. Mistborn done right and marketed well would appeal to the mass market in a big way. I'm so happy this is happening.
I would say there's a bout a 99% chance that SA or MB in TV or movie form would be awful...unless they're animated. The effects budget to make the magics look cool would be way more than I think would be possible for this.
Kyle Grounds the magic isnt very, uh, flashy? Like theres no giant laser beams or explosions of green fire or any of that shit, all theyd rlly have to do is make people glow a bit, and have some good light-stream effect for when the succ the light in. I dont think itd be that hard, but i would like to see it animated either way.
Hahaha Brandon got pretty obviously uncomfortable at 1:20 when the dude said the interview was about to get very romantic...Brandon Sanderson is on his way to being the rand al Thor of the fantasy author's world. I absolutely loved his work finishing the wheel of time, he did an amazing job. It was a great series to begin with but did start to get a little stale at about book 7 but he breathed new life into it. If the next seven books in stormlight archive are as good as the first three, it's definitely going to give wheel of time a run for its money. I'm seriously blown away by oathbringer. I read it and listened to the audiobook. If you have 50 hours to burn I would highly recommend the audiobook lol! The narrators are the same that did the wheel of time and are very very good at bringing different personalities to the individual characters. Great series so far!
(Cippy Speaking): See, I love Sanderson's work! And his finishing the Wheel of Time series makes me want to start it. But everybody tells me that it does kinda lull in the middle. Worth the time investment to get to Sanderson's ending?
G3EK there is a bit of lull but there's still a lot of things happening and a lot of information that comes into play in The last few books. still plenty of action but it just isn't as intense as the beginning and end, I guess you could say. But 100% worth it. If you like fantasy, you will not be disappointed that I can guarantee. I drive semi for a living and so I listen to the audiobooks now. They average about 40 hours per book. Took me a year to listen to the whole thing the last time lol! And that was listening several hours a day at work 5 days a week. But reading them took me far, far longer. the narrators of most all of Sanderson's books are Kate reading(for the female parts) Michael Kramer(for male parts) are absolutely awesome. I prefer the audiobooks because they bring a whole other dynamic into it and the characters really feel alive. I love the audiobooks because I can listen if I'm at the gym, cooking, mowing the law,etc etc etc...so anyway, sorry about my sales pitch for the audiobooks 😆
Absolutely! I don't know if you're strictly into fantasy... but I listened to the Martian audiobook recently and loved it. Also the fully cast World War Z audiobook is incredible.
Jasnah on the cover of Oathbringer always looks like Morena Baccarin to me - especially if you use Baccarin's Inara Serra from Firefly. If Baccarin is cast as Jasnah, I will absolutely hide in the attic for a half a day until my mind begins to accept how amazing it is. For a week after I will suffer random laughter and flocks of imaginary joyspren. For years after I will rewatch it obsessively (but I would do that anyway).
Don't mean to sound rude by saying this, but yours is not a big channel but still you put up this video (the likes of which i've been looking for without much luck) really makes me glad
Every now and then I’ll start thinking hey maybe I could get a part in this amazing series/movie, forgetting that I’m just a sad little Australian depresso espresso
Have preordered Oathbringer hardcover, still waiting for delivery........ Can't wait, passing my time with other books which seem nothing compared to Stormlight Archive, Sanderson, your writing is awesome, just please don't become Rothfuss!
The coolest thing about him that all the interviews or videos about his lessons I watched, he is like this in all of them. I can't say how much I appreciate his work and... really, everything about him :D
I love that the interviewer said "You created a Cosmere" and not "The Cosmere", like it was an everyday thing. Not criticizing here, just thought of it as funny, haha
The main problem with translating these books into movies is the fact that basically nothing is filler. It's not like Harry Potter of some other movie where you can skip certain conversations or sequences. Everything in these books is needed to push the story farther so skipping a certain scene or conversation will no doubt ruin it.
ren-AR-in?? That's how it's pronounced?? I always pronounced it ren-ah-rin. Which doesn't look very different but is completely different from how they said it. (Also, shall-ON and ro-SHAR?? Damn I've been getting even the simplest names wrong)
Visions... like Lehi. But the inverse obverse of Captain Moroni. The written word is corrupted. That last thing is actually pretty close to how the Veil distorts information here. It is why scripture is often mixed light and dark.
A) maybe he was trying to avoid spoiling it for people who haven't yet read it B) Calling him Wit is an easy way to refer to his role specifically in the Stormlight Archive, while Hoid can be him anywhere
Specialist in Failure I can see that but compared to Games of Thrones, Oathbringer perspectives are mild and keep the reader engaged without losing focus. Each characters perspective fills in a piece of the whole, whether it be in this book or the overall story.
Specialist in Failure I’m halfway through my second read through of Oathbringer, and I have to disagree. For the most part, we still stick pretty closely to the main three (ie Shallan, Kaladin and Dalinar) with a handful of other perspectives making appearances. To me, the interludes are used to great affect to foreshadow, show the world, get insight into other important characters motivations and so on. Had we been thrust into all these perspectives in the first book, it might have been overwhelming, but by now many of the perspectives we get if from familiar characters, which helps understanding immensely.
Stormlight is not even one of the more numerous povs. Other well regarded fantasy series like Malazan or ASOIAF has a lot more povs. Hell wheel of time has 1300+ POV at the end of the series.
"Now the interview is about to get real romantic" Brandon's face 😂
Roxanna Peterson that noise he made tho 😂

Kaladin is like...two years older than Spiderman.
And I look two years older than Spiderman ;)
G3EK fair enough
BTW, love your screen name
Haha thanks. I never really intended to use this account so I just went with my Tumblr URL because it was the first thing that came to mind xD
Yeah but kaladdin is also like 100 years older than Spiderman in maturity
Roshar has hospitals! Just ask Taravangian...
Oh yeah, we'd looooooooooove to be in one of those hospitals!

The thought of the Stormlight Archives and Mistborn coming to the big screen is like Viagra to my soul... And I'm only half-joking... LOLOL!

This book was awesome. Im gonna dive into R.O.W soon. 😊
I just found the stormlight trilogy for just under $50. Stoked for the upcoming read! Can't wait for when I get to Oathbringer.

I love that Brandon knows some Final Fantasy too. He’s at least played some of them if he knows about the reoccurring Cid characters.

what do you mean with that ? i was thinking about starting with his books.....
I think he means... starts a great series and takes forever to finish it... we've been waiting a long time for the Third Kingkiller...
@g3ek ohh I see I hate hiatus too....
I think it would be better as a TV series
Love his suit jacket + t-shirt :D

ive started on Mistborn now I can't wait for the next stormlight aaah

That's one of the downsides of being American/British. When it comes to made-up names, you tend to read them as you would in English.

Wondering if the thing Brandon found fun that he did do something with and make money was infinity blade
