enjoyed this, definitely should be good for anyone considering going to St Andrews for (astro)Physics or looking ahead to what module choices to pick in their next stage/year! Wish i had something like this to reference as i was moving through Uni. always just relied on advice from people in the year above, and provided info to peeps in the year below me.

Glad it did what I wanted from it. I felt a really long video while not the best for the algorithm, would be a good resource for someone

Thank you for this! Im currently in S6 and would like to do an integrated masters in astrophysics at uni next year. I am thinking either St Andrews or Edinburgh (leaning more towards Edinburgh) but we shall see!

Hope this has been helpful. I can really recommend the degree at St Andrews. Going to uni there has its own challenges though I imagine you can have similar issues at Edinburgh. Hope you find the right one for you!

As someone who will be taking MSc Astrophysics at St. Andrews this coming academic year, this was really quite helpful. I have been contemplating which classes to take, so this serves as a very useful guide before advising starts. I also want to ask how the examinations work. I saw that a lot of the classes have 100% examination for the grading components. Does this mean there's only one big exam at the end of the term? Also, how much interaction do you have with the research groups during the course of the year/during the Masters project? Thanks again for this video!

Really hope you enjoy the MSc course, they do a lot of the same modules as the integrated MPhys students (just different names and module codes with sometimes a bit extra coursework).
100% exam modules are a thing. This is just one big exam at the end of the semester. I don't like them but can't do too much about them.
As for research group interaction - there isn't too much in taught modules though masters students are always welcome when they run the weekly colloquia guest talks on a Friday. Once you get started on your project, you'll be working in one of the research groups. You'll be invited along to their weekly group meetings. Not everyone goes but I tried to go as often as I could and really enjoyed them

How would you rate the 2nd yr maths modules to AH maths, in terms of difficulty? I was thinking of skipping the 1st yr maths modules

So I only did Linear Maths and Multivariate Calculus, there are another 6 modules if you're on the maths course. They were pretty manageable as I remember. Though I'm not the best to give a comparison to AH maths because I did do 1st year in between, and my AH maths teacher wasn't amazing tbh
