These guys are from my home town - I'm in awe that people as amazing as these guys came from such a shitty, tiny town and made it big. They're truly inspirational.
Dick Lucas rarely gets the credit he deserves. Both for the content of his lyrics, and the outright body of work he has produced. I honestly think he might be clinically manic, but it makes for some god damn real punk rock.
I so agree with Roboimp. The punk scene was not and should not be a fashion show. It has turned that way. I remember when I was in high school and making the scene...there were people from all sides of town, from all upbringings...and from every type of attire. We were all there enjoying the show and the unity in music!
Dick Lucas should be esteemed...no rock stars, no heroes...FINE. One of the most intelligent and articulate bands and lyricists to ever pick up a mic and say anything.
They came to the tiny shithole of St-Hyacinthe, QC, Canada this summer at this bar called the trash, fuckin' rocked the house! We all got to talk to them after the show, really great bunch of guys!
loved these guys live! the room got so packed that every1 is just pushing each other all over the place. apathy was amazing live. i got shoved to the ground and into a fight that was fun!
You really understood the concept. Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both.
Excellent band saw them many times around Barnstaple many years ago,Citizen Fish also,i beleive this version is from the recent Subhamans re-formation and consequent tour??
The success of anarchism is based off of the scale of the anarchist society. If it's 500 anarchists living with enough resources, it can work. If it's a whole country, it won't work. There have been successful anarchist communities before, it's not impossible.
The Native Americans did not resist, for a while. Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War was without government, and they managed to defeat the Fascists in many major battles.
"Nor will they [humans] ever be ready for anarchy." They? You aren't a human then? As to whether humanity will ever be ready for anarchy, weren't there various times in human history when the authorities said we'd never be ready for various social changes? The authorities being monarchies, religions, other forms of dictatorship - 'You need us, you can't cope without us'.
Legendary Anarcho Punk from the Subhumans THIS WEDNESDAY @ the Adam And Eve, Digbeth, Brum. Please support this event- it's a weds, it's cold but you'll soon warm up! Support from Brummy Reggae-Punk warriors Lobster and Oi/punk madness from the Nerks. 7PM Doors, see you there! Please share this post, cheers :)
@lexigore I don't know cos I'm now in my still youthful 40s and these guys are HOPE. Lucas is older than me. They're all grown men but boyish and punky as fuck. Yours sincerely, a Captain Sensible fan.
You ain't listening hard enough if you're typing! You kids will figure it out someday. Music means a lot, but the other stuff is imaginary; you create it all in your head and sometimes people share a similar idea or disagree on it. You guys want to be in a club, or the people who's thoughts you are worried about do or are. Stand alone.
Humans aren't ready for anarchy? Or is it you guys who say that aren't ready for anarchy. Anarchists seem to be ready for anarchy. It's not like it's something that would need to be prepared for, it's more something that people who want it need to bring about for themselves. Like autonomous cities or regions. xx
Anarchy is a stupid ideal inherently flawed. If you listen to the song truly, it's about how the people that called for reform and "anarchy" became the rulers they despised.
explain 'selling out',if you mean get popular and in the charts then thats stupid. If a band keeps their morals and don't Change because of success then it is ok
Nah, better yet just pop down the local record/CD store and pick up a copy of The Day the Country Died and then you can enjoy the whole album. Much better than some app bullshit crap that is so impersonal... and plus prying yourself away from your fuking "smart" phone for an hour or so will probably do you a world of good....
what sort of issues you talking about? because in my view war is greatest problem and americans are fighting fire with fire by warring with places. also the torture should be stopped. heard obama is going to do that so that'll redeem you a bit. economy is a tiny bit fucked as well, something should be done about that. To me those are the main problems facing us. I don't think anything can be done about poverty to be honest. and nothing can be done about enviroment. so war, torture, economy

The Native Americans did not resist, for a while. Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War was without government, and they managed to defeat the Fascists in many major battles.

Anarchy is a stupid ideal inherently flawed.
If you listen to the song truly, it's about how the people that called for reform and "anarchy" became the rulers they despised.
maybe he'll be first against the wall, but that will just me a chance to bash the guy holding'em in the head
why is that?
