This is awesome 🥺 it made me tear up, they have a very asthetic way of viewing Mexicans. And it’s cool when ppl actually take the time to know more about the culture. I love metal we don’t only listen to mariachi music. There is more than that and I thank you guys por giving it a chance and the time. 🤘🏼

I wrote an article about Cemican in Metal Studies Journal published this year. They were truly an inspiration for my master's thesis in Anthropology and this article. Proud to be from the same city. Thanks for this reaction I enjoyed it a lot.

Nahuatl = (Nah·WA·t). The tl sound is pronounced by releasing the air from the t sound from the sides of your tongue. It's subtle so often people just don't pronounce it and end the word with t.
This band is super great. Another really amazing band to check out like this is Xipe Totec (shee-peh Toe-tek). They have a much heavier sound and there's a lot of their music available.
That middle chorus is just the most amazing thing I've heard in years. I hate that they only do it once!

I listened to a Brazilian metal band, a Peruvian metal band, a metal band from Chile, two from New Zealand into from China/Mongolia.
Are using traditional instruments in their songs some songs had a lot of it some songs did it and I know it’s just mine blowing that these vans I’ve been around for the smell of the time, but nobody knows about them.
Like the cliché metal bands in Metallica, Pantera and Anthrax and megadeth and slayer have been in my life more than they haven’t but these indigenous peoples. Metal bands are really opening up my mind.
I can’t stop listening to them!

"Folk Metal is more than just adding a flute"
Folk Metal is incorporating elements of traditional folk music into metal. That is EXACTLY what Cemican are doing, and it is fucking amazing. Folk Metal has for much of its history been a very European genre, and most people think of hurdy gurdys, violins, bagpipes and happy go lucky melodies when they hear the genre being mentioned, but that's fortunately just a part of the picture. There are Asian Folk Metal bands using traditional instruments and musical influences of their respective cultures, and Latin American ones like Cemican too. There must be African Folk Metal bands too in existence, but I haven't found them so far. I do hope to find out about them and listen to their music if they exist.

Also, the didgeridoo looking thing that these guys play is called a hom-tahs.
Central/South America has had brutal extreme music for decades, nothing new here. Bands like Sarcafago and the well known Sepultura come to mind -both from Brazil. To be more specific, Mexico has killer grind and deathmetal bands since the late 80's early 90's. Check out Cenotaph-"tenebrous apparitions"ep (super heavy deathmetal)

You guys need to react to their song Luna Desmembrada next. It’s got more melody and hooks to it, plus guest vocals from a female singer. It’s catchy AF but still has killer riffs. This band has been on nonstop rotation in my playlist. Being of Mexican descent, it makes me happy to see a band repping Mexican and Mexica culture!

This has a heavy Sepultura influence for sure. Check out their album In Ohtli Teoyohtica In Miquiztli. I just started listening to it today, and I can’t stop listening.

The Mexicas also known as the Aztecs weren’t a tribe but an empire that built pyramids.
I work with a bunch of Mexican people. A few are from that area and translate for me.

The Mexican guy that gave me the name is Chicago Mexican, so not even close to what CEMICAN is.
Like most for band, a lot of their songs are based on Laura and mythology of their area. There’s one song about like an hour, which is that come on steals your child in the night.
But holy heck do they have some power!!!
Thank you for acknowledging the misunderstanding of Mexica (Aztec) culture. We did not sacrifice the way colonizers claimed. We did bloodletting and we honored the noble warrior's death. To an untrained eye, that would look like sacrifice, but this was a way of the people. To die in battle was the most honorable death. As an honor of our adversaries, if they did not die on the battle field, they could choose a warrior's death over starting from the bottom in a different society.

My stepson goes to a Catholic school and I dropped him off at school and then I drove away. Turning the stuff up and little kids were pointing at me. It was awesome.

The problem with translating not only the Spanish, but as tech/my in Spanish into English is that the translation isn’t a 100%, right?
Like, if you looked at some of the names of the songs of CEMICAN some of the names are in that old school, Aztec language, and it doesn’t translate into English at all and then if you read the translation like you do here in the video, it really doesn’t make any sense because of that Rocky translation.
Even the people that I had translator, the songs for me didn’t understand what they were talking about because it is the Spanish is different in the language of different
But as metal fans we get the idea
