The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Daytona Cosmograph 116518LN Oysterflex features a 40mm 18k yellow gold case with a black Cerachrom ceramic bezel surrounding a champagne dial on a black Oysterflex bracelet with an 18k yellow gold deployant buckle. Functions of this Rolex Daytona include COSC Swiss chronometer certified Rolex automatic caliber 4130, 100-meter water resistance, 72-hour power reserve, hours, minutes, small seconds and chronograph. This Rolex watch also measures 12.2mm in thickness and 47.7mm from lug-to-lug.
The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time 5164R-001 features a 40.8mm 18k rose gold case surrounding a brown dial on a brown rubber composite strap with deployant buckle. Functions of this Patek Philippe Aquanaut include 120-meter water resistance, hours, minutes, seconds, GMT hand, day/night indicator and date. This Patek Philippe watch also measures 10.4mm in thickness and 47.3mm from lug-to-lug.

Daytona has gone up at least $15k in the pre owned market. It is no longer selling at retail in the secondary.
Tough battle between the two. Harder because it's not apples to apples. Ideally I'd have both. I'm a car guy, I have to go with the Daytona, and when compared to a Patek, that says a lot.
The rubber strap on the patek is car-related since it looks like a tire😂

Daytona is so much nicer, and more durability luxury brand. Nautilius is to fragile. I would pick the Daytona all day. Something u can pass on generations and use it daily. U can’t with Patek! So Rolex all day. For me that’s a better watch
@@The_real_Mr_Ghost Daytona is a mass produced watch. The Patek is made by hand in far fewer quantities. The Daytona's retail price was set at $12,400. It skyrocketed due to the popularity of the Paul Newman. Otherwise, it's just a luxury watch that falls into the lower end of fine Swiss watches. Patek aquanaut is on a different level.
Aamir Khan it’s not mass produced anymore. And it much more durable than a Patek. Design is much nicer and it’s a much better watch. Patek is only expensive and they make complicated watches. Who care about the complication when it’s so fragile. And idiots pay premium price for nothing. I sold my nautilus 4 weeks Ago, I think at its peak. I’m keeping my Rolexes. Most durable luxury watches. And for u r info, one Rolex takes 1 year to make and most is handmade! Go and educate your self. U have to have watches from both brands to understand!

Rolex have 5 years warranty, Patek have 2 years, Rolex is much more durable and reliable. Patek is over priced beautiful watch. But The Daytona is much nicer. Rolex wins. Sorry Patek!
I am really not into rubber straps and don't get it at all.
I was not either until I tried on, and bought, an Aquanaut. I love the feel and have grown to love the look. I was initially going to order the metal bracelet, but now will just keep the rubber on. I am old, by the way.
in my country with the hot humid weather, leather is not practical...only metal or rubber...I agree rubber is not dressy as leather or metal.
You should try it, very liberating & not worry that the bracelet becoming a scratch magnet 🧲
Bob Builder It’s this big marketing trend where everything needs to have sportiness added to it. It’s also because the world’s biggest luxury watch market is East Asia, where rubber straps hold up far better in the summer than leather. I’m personally not into luxury watches on rubber straps, unless they’re white gold or steel.

Rolex is my preference. The Patek is overpriced and doesn’t offer much modern technology in its movement.
David B strange Patek offer magnetic guards with silicon, very practical while Rolex still does not. My Submariner has many visits to the AD to demagnetize it after traveling. Even my omega seamaster has protection for magnets. That’s technology that Rolex drastically needs to add. Most of Rolex’s movements are dated minus the Daytona which was a zenith improved movement they started building in house more recently. Don’t generalize Rolex since different movements are not equal within the brand.

Alfonso Partida no Rolex is much better. Much more durable and nicer design. Rolex is much more reliable

The yellow gold of the Daytona is disgusting, outdated and tacky. That's why it must be the watch of choice for successful plumbers. Rolex is for plumbers. Patek Phillipe is haute horologerie, Rolex is plumbing equipment.

I wish it was possible to buy just the oyster flex as a swap option for the Daytona. That’s the biggest thing holding me back, I want the option to go with a rubber strap look but it doesn’t seem like that’s a thing that is available

Wow, my favorite material variations of the Aquanaut and Daytona in one review! In direct comparison the former does look more upmarket than the latter. And I’ve just noticed how thin and spindly the Daytona’s hands are. Choosing between the two is a hard one though. So I’ll just say, if I could afford one, then I could afford the other too. So I’ll have both! 😆 dream on...
It all depends the group of people you dealing and belong to… it’s only right to compare Daytona meteorite and aquanaut dual time
Patek is just on another level. Also the Aquanaut chocolate dial es the most beautifull I have ever seen.

No. Unless you buy a solid gold rolex 20mm lug width model; an 116528 daytona, a gold sub, or a gold GMT.

Dang that rubber suits the gold. This is a pointless contest. I'm not trolling! They both have equivalent models which would be a great competition the Rolex GMT v PP Travel Time. The Daytona v XYZ PP chronograph. Out of these two the PP every time!

The Patek is more useful as a watch. It's completely legible, vs. the Rolex, with its razor-thin gold hands that blend into the dial. And the chronograph function on the Daytona is basically for show. Nobody's going to stand there jerking the pushers on a dubiously legible 40mm solid gold watch to use it as a stopwatch.
On the other hand, the Patek has a seriously deficient sub-40-hour power reserve. And its needle date display is less legible than a typical date window and is frequently obstructed by the watch's hands.
For the prices, I'd go for neither.

Rokex must never be compared to patek. They are a few worlds apart.
Rolex is made for a kings. Pateks is made for Gods.
Rolex is king of sport watches and A Lange is the new king of dress watches, Patek is nr 2
100% the Daytona. The 6-month long, $2.5K service on my Patek 5146 put me off the brand.

Quite the opposite. Many of us don't want to make a statement when wearing our watches and like the stealthyness of a strap like these on the Rolex or PP.
Derek Holyfield I don't mind the straps, but If I really wanted stealthy, I wouldn't exactly go for a colored gold PP or Rolex. They may be less flashy than full gold bracelets, but I don't think they're stealthy at all.

That is a fact! Now, to give you a little more clarity. Somebody, that knows something or even a little about watches, might say a Rolex or PP isn't steathy because they know what those brands really are. On the other hand, your avg Joe and Jane have no clue and might think a certain GOLD IN COLOR Invicta is much more expensive than a Rolex Sub or a Patek made our of steel or white gold.

Patek every time! Gold Rolex Daytona wouldn't be on your wrist for long in parts of London! Patek will be mistaken for gold plated Timex !

Can’t even compare, aquanaut, I’m trading my Anniversary Submariner in for one as soon as my AD can get the green white gold in. Patek Philippe is definitely a step up from the Rolex in person, extremely well made. Rolex why still has no magnetic protection, tired of going to my AD to demagnetize it after traveling. Rolex is still Rolex and Patek Philippe is still Patek.
what are you talking about. Rolex Daytona is a much better watch. more robust, reliable and accurate watch. Daytona quality is on another level. There is a reason why Rolex is King!
I have the Travel Time 5164A & the AP Royal Oak 41mm chrono, but not the Daytona 😬 every time I pick up the Daytona, the covered caseback always hold me back from getting it.
Btw the 5164 Rose Gold is almost double the Daytona price on secondary market.

I’d still take the Patek. Any day.
Day to day use makes the winner the Aquanaut, the Daytona tells the time and allows you when at a sporting event to time the event. However, the price of the Rolex and the 5 year guarantee make it the better initial buy. But, if I had the money for either I'd go with the Patek, it just looks better.
Martin JN I would definitely choose the Daytona. Better design and much more durable luxury brand. And that’s make it a more reliable watch too!
