Hi, three-quarters of the crystal is wire wrapped. Twisting the wires on both sides from 6:50 - 7:28 and placing the wires over the top from 10:55 - 11:47 will prevent the crystal from falling out. Thanks for stopping by.
Also selenite is extremely soft, so when you do the twisting, the wire sort of grabs into the soft stone. This style doesn't work quite as well with a very hard / smooth stone but it definitely works great on selenite and other soft gypsums etc
