Howdy Foxie, good to see you're still kicking and still building canoes. I'm Joe Houseman, I was your neighbor on the Big Fork for a brief time about 40 years ago.
Knew Ray's parents and his family. Knew Bill Hafeman, too. When we lived up there, a birch-bark canoe was just $100. Bill said when he asked $25 he sold a few, but when he raised the price to $100, he couldn't make them fast enough.
Ray! Good to see you. And if you see this note, send me an email (ofieldstream@gmail.com). It's been too long! :) Hope you and Kristi are doing well. Deb and I are still in Hoosierville and enjoying life. Hope to hear from you before long. Best. - les

It comes from a tree
Just super response
+Дмитрий Грянко cedar and birch bark
is birch tree rare? just wondering how expensive it is to make
Birch trees are not rare. Skills to build canoe are rare. These craft cost about 5k to have built.
