You're a great educator. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. My classmates and I were talking about how helpful your videos were at our clinical yesterday.😂❤
Meris, Thank you! You all are wonderful educators. I remember when the HPV vaccine came out, too. It was hilarious the way the 'old' people cried "It's just a license to ________!" Like now my 12 year old gets a free pass. " A hall pass for sin." I grew up in the south. It was ridiculous. Anyways, I love your stories.
Thank you for sharing your personal experience with the HPV vaccine. I work as an interpreter and your videos are always educational and very informative, thank you!
Cool to hear you had 1 of the 1st HPV vaccines back in the day. I went through hell w/HPV, but it did not lead into cancer. Just multiple freezing and I had 9 gyno appointments w/in a 3 year period. (circa 2009) It was nerve racking. Since I was approaching middle age, the freeze didn't take care of the virus on the 1st try, or 2nd.... And insurance wouldn't cover hysterectomy unless it turned cancerous. The vaccine (if available) would have saved a lot of aggrevation. I believe I needed 3 negative tests to be ruled out for virus, which is one of the reasons for the multiple appointments to gyno
I completely agree! Memorizing never works in the long term, but understanding the "why" helps things stick better! Thank you for studying with me! --Meris :)
Hi! Great video. Regarding the contraindications, we were taught Rotavirus is given at 2,4, and 6 months, and Influenza is given at 6 months of age. In the video you stated live vaccines cannot be given to children under one years old, is there a reason that was said? I am trying to connect the dots. Thank you!

I find these videos very helpful. I’d like to ask that you say the answers to the quiz questions as I listen rather than watch the videos. Thank you!

So glad! Thanks.😊
Is 103 a “low grade fever” still? 😅 referencing the question at the end that asks if we would delay the vaccine
100.3
@@terrendanicks3995 Ohhh whoops 😅 Yeah I was just listening to the audio to review and misheard it - thanks!
Professor just taught us last week that no vaccines with fever or sickness but ATI states differently. Very frustrating
Low grade fever and minor illnesses are not a contraindication for getting a vaccine per the CDC

The flu shot is started at 6 months and then annually after.

Is egg allergy still a contraindication for flu shot? I thought that was no longer the case
This is another case of NCLEX/nursing school not really keeping up with EBP :( Great point, though! --Meris
…Holy moly, Meris and I are the same age. 😂
5 for 5!
The age limit for the HPV vaccine has actually been extended!
I got it at age 30, upon request. I was kind of surprised.
Is the two-step hep B vaccine only available for adults currently? Will the NCLEX recognize that?
