In 1982, ShowBiz Pizza Place increased CEI's funding for R&D. As a result, CEI began working on various projects such as the show selector, second generation versions of Dook and Mitzi, an advanced animatronic replica of Paul McCartney, and a new character named Uncle Klunk, who was designed to be a talk show host. Klunk himself was very advanced, being able to pick up objects, something that even Disney wasn't even doing at the time. Klunk was officially unveiled in the "Save the Colander Telethon", a VHS Tape sent to ShowBiz stores to get them excited for the Colander promotion. This tape was a demo produced by CEI and sent to some of the stores that installed Klunk first. It features Jeff Howell as the voice of Uncle Klunk himself (he was also the person Klunk was modeled after), and Burt Wilson as the voice of Click, his bird sidekick. Unfortunately, this tape was not well liked by audiences, and ShowBiz agreed, telling CEI to hire a professional company to produce a new Klunk tape, in which they did. Jeff Howell will always be my favorite Uncle Klunk and I think they should've kept him the voice actor for him. Jeff sounds more real and not so cartoony and animated, which is why I prefer it.

i love this iteration of Klunk, he sounds ever so slightly unhinged yet confident in whatever he says, and his voice is just nicer to listen to!! he genuinely seems like your weird yet entertaining uncle who rambles about random stuff to you and i really like him a lot :)
