New to OSRS but back in the day the first thing I did when I got members was go to the Taverly gate and went through it. I then stumbled across the boy for Witch's house, then spent the next 6hours trying to work out how to do it. Still couldn't do it so I went to school the next day and asked my friends and learnt of RuneHQ. It changed my life.

I remember it so clearly... I was at my grandmothers house, I had just gotten my parents to buy me membership, I went to the homepage and pressed the members world option. When I got in the game I was wearing some rune items and I walked around what I think was the Port Sarim area, can't remember why, telling people "I'm a member" Like it was the biggest deal ever. Of course, everyone I encountered was a member as well considering I was in a members only world. It truly was one of the best days in my life walking around in a F2P area in a members world.

Getting membership was tough for me because my mom had a phobia about using her card online back then, ironic now because there are like 3-4 Amazon packages on our porch everyday, but I convinced her to buy me a pre-paid card at Walmart one day. That made it extra satisfying when I became a member but I had absolutely no clue what to do because I had been a f2p for years. So I just grinded summoning because I thought it was so neat to have a follower.

Back in the days I was quite a wealthy f2p player who gained a fortune at cockroaches gaining those rune scimmies. I had full rune saradomin and was flexing on the f2p peasants. Then one day after years of begging my dad bought me my first membership. I remember it as it was yesterday, I went straight to the grand exchange to buy myself 1 dragon impling jar. You could make a huge profit if you would land on one of the dragon items, it felt just like buying a lottery ticket. Obviously I didn't hit the jackpot so I decided to buy another 1. Continuing this process 6 more times and my bank was to a measly 4m. In that 1 day I went from being a wealthy f2p boss to a nooby p2p peasant. Man did that learn me to just work for cash instead of trying to get lucky.

I Remember becoming a member for the first time to try slayer, my first task i got Icefiends and spent 4 hours trying to kill them... when i killed one, i noticed that it had dropped a clue scroll, my young 8 year old mind was like "what is this?????? Could it lead to treasure?" so I spent the next 4 hours figuring out how to do this medium clue i had acquired from the icefiend. When I got my reward I remember very vividly my brother behind me looking over my chair to see what I got.. "damn i got some stupid green boots.... well let me see how much all this is worth..16M?!?!?!? WHAAAAT." I then got scammed for them because my 8 year old mind was too naive for trusting people LOL

Finally got membership for Christmas back in 2003 after months of putting it on various wish lists as buying things on internet back then was relatively new so my parents were really sceptical about using their credit card details to pay. Remember it like yesterday - first thing i did was cross into Al Kharid to buy some desert boots!! I remember thinking that colourful boots represented the transition into membership as F2p only had colourful gloves back then and, if i remember right, we only really had leather boots available (sos wasn't introduced yet). That shit was the ultimate difference in terms of people wearing god/trimmed armour sets - they could have the red/white/yellow/green gloves on with the armour set, but if they were wearing leather boots, their street credit took a massive hit.
After that - straight to a member world to continue cutting willows in Draynor to work up to 60 woodcutting for that yew gold!! Not having to compete with the 30 people in F2P worlds for willow trees in my white boots on Christmas day was a feeling of freedom i'll never forget.. And cause it was Christmas, i got 3 hours instead of the 1hour max that was the limit from the birth-givers. Beautiful times..
First two weeks of membership me and my brother didn’t even leave the second town we came across, net fishing in Catherby, hyped up by the idea of fishing up caskets which could contain unimaginable wealth! We little noobs didn’t know that clue scroll caskets and ‘caskets’ you get while net fishing were different things.. 😅 The last two weeks of membership were a mix of picking flax and doing clue scrolls. Oh, the good old days 😅

I finally went through that gate leading to Taverly after trying to sneak my way in countless times while F2P
I very fondly remember the first thing I did when I got membership on Runescape. I walked through the gates of Taverly. My friends messaged me to meet them in Catherby. I died on a remote dead end of white wolf mountain and lost full addy, I immediately logged off after. I cried that night but I would never admit that to my friends because you gotta be tough in middle school or they'll eat you alive. I told them my power went out and I had died, and my friend gave me an amulet of glory (100k back then, wow!).

A buddy and I were in the 7th grade and we learned about a call in number for membership so we tried calling the number from multiple different land lines trying to get it to work, once we were able to get membership we hopped to a member world and started to spam "buying members armor" a guy sold us desert robes, desert boots and rune dagger (p) and we were so excited thinking we looked pro. We then hopped back to non mems and went to varrock center and bragged about our gear. Good memories!

When I first got membership my only computer access was at the public library. I remember my brothers and I would have to go up and ask for "more computer time on our cards" so that we could continue questing together. There were always older kids there also playing who would try to convince us to leave our accounts logged in and they would "make us money" (I wonder if they were really trying to take our accounts or not) anyways.. when I first got membership I went straight to attempting to complete dwarf cannon, and once I did I would just set up the cannon just to flex. Good memories that kept me coming back to this game time and time again! Thanks Sparcy!

I first got membership when I was 9, back in the runescape classic days. I remember hearing sound effects and freaking out like "OMG THIS IS SO COOL" and just started killing things to hear all the different sounds. Then my cousin and I who also just got membership ran to the first members only gate we could find and crossed white wolf mountain thinking the game was super hard because we died a few times trying to get across. Then we saw how easy it was to fish lobsters in catherby and thought we hit the gold mine.

I got members about a week before my best friend. I was on the phone with him as soon as the payment went through. Before my character could take his first breath in the glory of World 2, he begged me to buy him some purple gloves and boots. We spent the next hour or so figuring out the priest in peril quest over the phone. Long story short, my buddy had some fresh af kicks and gloves waiting once he got his membership a few days later.

Very first thing I did was finally click the teleport to Camelot spell and explored King Arthur's castle. Brought a ton of joy to my 13 year old heart more than 10 years ago :)
First time i got member. A friend of mine told me that i should get the fire cape as soon as possible. but i needed atleast 75 range. So i grinded my range at the best place i knew ( under frankenstein castle ) Ty Settled. After many hours of shooting arrows at those experiment. I finaly reached the first goal 75 range. I was so happy but little did i know, my challenge was yet to come. The fight cave when i entered after watching many hours of videos guides to prepare myself for this fight I manage to get to the last round where Jad was there waiting for me... I missed the prayer and died.But i did not gave up I came back several time each of them taking 2 hours to get to the fight to then die again on a wrong prayer. I was at my limite my breaking point. I left it at that for like a week meanwhile i had made a friend via streaming and he inspired me to stream too. When i streamed my first jad run I manage to beat Jad. I was shoked for a moment before comming to the realisation that he was dead it was over i started to screem of joy running in my apartement that i had finally did it. My neighbor complained for the noise but it was worth it. I had finaly did it.
This was the first story of becoming member on OSRS.

Getting past wolf mountain - when I first gained membership in 2005 I couldn’t get past white wolf mountain without dying. I kept getting ko’d by the wolves, eventually I made it and spent 1 month making flax, 3 months merching flax and tree seeds and then moved on to fletching, I would wake up every morning 2 hours before school and back after school to string bows so I could compete with Zezima, eventually getting 44m Xp, reaching 19 in the high scores and buying my first phat

Ahhh man i remember finally getting membership, i was like 13 and my parents were super strict on my internet usage back when broadband was a relatively new thing, i always got told no when i asked them to pay the subscription for me, so one day i saved up my pocket money and went to my friends house because he had a mobile phone, we put credit on it and did the pay by phone service and had to sit at the end of the call and nervously jot down the code that gets read out.. i finally logged in to membership and walked through that magical gate, into taverly for the first time. first thing i did was start thieving as i thought it would be a good money maker. oh how wrong i was! i miss wandering around the game not having a clue wtf i was doing. #nostalgia

Back in the day when i first got members, I spent my lobster haul on a fresh set of Guthix. Pre-GE. Never felt more badass.
So Tim it all started in the rivers of barbarian village. I was a simple f2p fisher, getting to level 78 with just my fly rod. Then i stopped playing for a while and when I came back my account was hacked and I was lvl 82 fishing with full anglers outfit. My mom came upstairs and typed to the dude in Varrock fountain telling the dude I was just a kid, and he said “Lol tell him to not be an idiot” and he just walked. She still brings it up to this day whenever I’m playing the game on my phone. Good memories.

I got members when I first joined. I went straight to chickens by lumbridge and started grinding them for combat training. My friends told me to do that. At about 2k feathers collected and many generations of chickens slaughtered. I was approached by a man named Dr. Jekyll who started asking me if I had an herb for him. I typed to him in chat “I don’t have one sorry” but he was a very persistent man about asking me for an herb. Eventually he got angry and transformed into Mr. Hyde and started attacking me. He then chased me for a good bit while I ran in fear of my life. I eventually succumbed to him and my wounds and those 2k feathers were lost forever as I was new to the game and had no clue where I died

I spent so long at the gates to Taverly wishing i could be free to roam the world. As soon as I had membership I opened those gates and everything felt so new and exciting.

I spent a lot of my non membs RuneScape life in al-Khalid. Back in 05, 06. Selling cow hides to the rich players in Santa hats and party hats for I think 200gp each. Well, I after dodging the scorpions I made it to the shanty pass. I wanted to see so badly what the rest of rs and especially the desert. After getting 40 defence for some epic noob runechain body sold in world 2 at the Varrock for 55k. Back when rune scims were 35k, and rune 2h’s were 60k. I finally had my account pimped out. So my mom finally got me membership after doing chores and wining about it for a week. As SOON as I got it I went deep in the desert... to.. die. No water, no go to get back to my stuff. On my first day of membs ever lost everything i worked hard for lmao.

Circa 2005 - Literally headed straight to the gnome stronghold to get that drip: light green wizard hat, gloves, boots and cape. Light green to match my full addy which was all i had. Once i hit 40 def, i upgraded to the light blue.
Bonus story: i got members back then by dialling the number and listening to the 1 min long £4 a minute automated message that was a method of payment back then. Straight on my parents phone bill.

First time membership in 2006, I just wanted to explore the locked off area west of falador. I made my way to white wolf mountain, excited as could be. Unfortunately for me, the wolves ended up eating me for dinner.
I met a random player and he took me on a journey where I would meet giant tortoises and even a giant waterfall. We were friends for a couple years after that but eventually lost contact!

First thing I did I befriended a player that went by Granite Ron. We spent a week mining together, he gained my trust. One day we went to clan wars and he told me to go into the red portal... it’s was like a fake taxi skit... but there was no taxi... just a max level clawing me out for my full rune. He then deleted my off his friends list, I never fully recovered from that experience.
