Great video! I’m the proud owner of a 1967 Corvette L79 Coupe. And it’s my pride and joy.
Karpo is a great friend of the museum and one of the organizers of the Corvette events. Without him, none of these Corvettes would have been there and our 60th anniversary celebration of the Corvette wouldn't have been as amazing as it was.
My father loved Corvettes and sometimes had several in the garage. He's gone now, but would love your display as I'm sure he was well-read on each and every Corvette from the very beginning. A funny thing happened when I turned 16, and earned my driver's license, all of those Corvettes disappeared never to be seen again. That probably saved my life as I totaled three cars in St. Louis, Missouri before graduating from high school. We were all wild in the early 1970's with full access to the best big blocks Detroit could produce. We destroyed so many tires that we usually drove around with a spare set in the trunk ready to change in the field. Nothing beats Detroit, big-block iron for pure fun!
great video.. I'm a c3 fan myself
Csaba, no matter what anyone says, you are an interesting presenter and very knowlegeable, keep up the great work!
I love what Csaba has been doing! These video specials are the best thing C & D is doing on youtube!
Fantastic! Thank You. John.
Longest model in continuous production is the Chevy Suburban, since 1935
Wow that was REALLY good!
Very nicely done!
I LOVE Corvettes!!!!!
I love Corvettes nice video peace from Minnesota
i love corvettes
Great video! Very informative.
My dad owns a L-88. He loves that car so much, I foresee him being buried it when he passes away.
Great upload!!!
Norway
In spite of other point of views I love the new Corvette Stingray! Why make a new Vette look old? New look for new times and the styling reflects that!
Amazing
Very interesting segment
Csaba knows cars so well (especially these), he leaves little to talk about- except the few questions he spoon-feeds (and apparently already knows).
That said, my dear friend Bobbie Jo Lee (PR director @ the 'Vette museum in Bowling Green, KY) would've been far more enjoyable to hear interviewed- and about as knowledgable on 'Vette history.
Plus, she's pleasant to look at, & sings as good as Martina McBride!
(TH-cam search her- she rocks.)
He literally added nothing to the "interviews". Everything he said was just a confirmation of something that Csaba brought up. Kudos to Csaba for keeping it interesting, even with such a Debby Downer around.
great video CARandDRIVER:)
I still think the C5s are stunning!
Excellent Chubby Chetta. Hehe. LOVE THE HISTORY. would of loved a little more.
Twin throttle body was called Crossfire injection Mr car and Driver.. And the easiest way to tell a c4 zr1 was the third break light on roofline
The C5 thing that drove me insane was the parts bin door handles.. Same ones on my grandfather's Buick
I'd sit down with Csaba Csere and talk about cars for hours.
awesome
Video not available in my country?!
Hell the corvette is available in my garage O.o
I love my Z06.
Amazing, simply amazing, please C&D do this on the Mustang and the Camaro.
Nice cars
Corvettes are cool, it's a shame they haven't taken off in the UK. If they made a right hand drive I'd probably snap one up. I think the yank tanks are improving at a rapid pace it would be cool to see them take off throughout Europe.
The C8 has been designed for both left and right hand models. New markets are expected.
I was recently on vacation in Great Britain and I didn’t see one Chevy driving around. Lots of Fords a few Chrysler’s but no Chevys.
A gentleman calling Sterling Moss.
the first Z-O6 came out in 1963 not in the C5 but wasn't as publisied
tech phanatik 199 built for the 1963 C2
yes. look it up.
That Grand Sport
They did stop selling them in America (same with the Mini Cooper), but they still produced them in other countries. The "original" classic Beetle was produced up until 2003. If you go to Mexico, you'll see an oddly high number of classic Beetles, but you'll find out that many of them are nearly brand new.
Not into Corvettes, but that was a very interresting video.
I never noticed the fins before
god I love corvettes
great video despite one word answer guy
HAPPY happy anniversary to Chevrolet Corvette cars. I have a message from the american old man, MR. Csaba Csere. "I LOVE YOU, Mr. Csaba Csere. You're truly good."
ME TOO
id love to see new a C2 homage, somehow like the amg sls to the 300 sl. to me its still the best lookin vette
Pretty certain the Chevrolet Suburban has a much longer production run.
1933 to present.
I believe he was allowing the representatives explain the cars to him and the public and have them sell the product of the Petersen Museum. I'm sure he's very knowledgeable but wanted the museum directors/owners to showcase their own knowledge as part of their own anniversary experience.
remember playng mafia 2 with this corvete
Karpo seems to be a man of few words huh.
CERV II = Coolest vette ever
god the C4...I'll get downvoted to hell, but that is one amazing car
bgdiner I love them, that "space frame "
I had two an 85 coup manual and a 86 convertible auto. They were cool for the times but they had problems. Specifically the digital dash would go out frequently and it was $500 a pop to fix it.
The Suburban is the longest model in continuous production, not the Corvette
Fact. Chevrolet Suburban continuously since 1935.
I like your answer, but did he say "car" or "vehicle?"
Clearly he's not including trucks.
He said model. Also, your truck classification can be debated.
That corvette "expert" is the reason why chevy still offers chrome wheels on the corvette.
Peterson, Y no '65?
The ford F-series has been in production since 1948, i think thats a little longer then the corvettes production time.
Wait a minute, isn't there one model missing between the very first Corvette and the 63' Split Window? The 59'-62' versions? I may be confused...Anyone? I guess I am thinking the very last year of the first gen was so different to how the first Fireball 6cyl model actually began that it deserved a gen all to itself? I'd be wrong I suppose.
The Vw Beetle was longer in production
The VW Beetle is older. But they STOPPED selling them in the States due to regulations in Safety. And for 20 years America didn't see any NEW Beetles at the dealerships. Until the NEW Beetle in 1999.
i love corvetts
4:52 Where is the other one?
How could you not mention the most rare Corvette ever made? It's possible if sold at auction today, could also be the most valuable. The ZL1 from 1969. Aluminum block L88 that produced 540-580hp. There were only 2 complete cars ever made. It wasn't until 2006 with the ZO6 that that much power was seen in a Corvette.
Wrong! There were NO '83 models! No continuous production there.
There were 43 test/proto corvettes built in 83 and at the middle to end of 83 the C4 started production but they were all sold as 84 models but there are no production model 83's
One 1983 C4 survives and is on display at the National Corvette Museum VIN 1G1AY0783D5110023
If the factory continuously produced cars, there IS no gap. However, I would agree with you if there was a pause in production when they stopped building cars in St. Louis and started building cars in Bowling Green. But I suspect there was overlap...
John Dough you are wrong. You just couldn't buy one. they did have 43 yes 43 for 83 they were the C4 platform but were never sold to the public. So technically they were 43 Corvettes produced for 83 .Thats also why there's no 30th anniversary vette
You are correct! Isn't it amazing that folks will shoot off their fingers and know, not much. Generalist John below is also correct. It is a white coupe displayed in the Dome
Not only was the first z-06 in 63 Right on Tech Phanatik but 63-67's were never considered as SEEEEE-TWOOOOOS They are MIDYEARS or Sting Rays! C anything didn't come to be till the c-4 as they ran out of cool names for Corvettes!
Factory Corvette's never were produced with 6 tail lights. 96 was the last year of the C4 not 97 or 98 like he said !! 1990 was the first year for the "King of the Hill " ZR1 Corvette not 88. Next time get a couple guys that know Corvettes
Thank you Contender for pointing out facts
5:29 "Do you think the high finn served any purpose on the car" Let me answer that question Gentlemen since you obviously don't know that it served a very important purpose. The High Finn was adopted almost unchanged from Jaguars D-type from '55. It was added to secure high speed stability on the race tracks, and as a passive security for the driver in case of a roll over accident.
Floormy454 coolest headrest extension I've ever seen
Chaba can make even Corvettes boring. Don't you know by now, that you have to start those V8's? Everyone!!
skip to 25:25 for first REAL corvette.
Well you say that but the C2 was a big step for the future Gens. If the the C1 never existed we would not have the Corvette today. So with the C3, all it was is a stepping stone not a mile stone. Causing your theory of the C3 Corvette being the "first Real corvette" invalid and untrue. If your first look at a Corvette was a C3 and that just stayed with you than that is you favorite Corvette but doesn't mean it is the best Corvette or the "first Real corvette."
zimonslot .. C2 are so much better and nicer than C3's what are you talking aboutmore value too
Remember, there was one year they didn’t make the Corvette
question at 3:13 - Drive did a very good episode on Big Muscle back in May of 2012 - take a look and your small block question will be answered: /watch?v=TkI6Mx7DAwY have a good day :)
the suburban is the longest running vehicle.
No C7?
cha sis
The Beetle STOPPED PRODUCTION here in the states.
Where's the C7?????
Ole Corvette Mike can afford that rare car 'cause we pay all that Corvette tax on those parts!
What is a Cha sis?
I think the Beetle is older
Longer that the F-150?
very "spatial" car lol
oldsmobile F-88
Did they makes the first year corvette in anything but white?
No
heehee, sami... the hi-winding hi-tech MR Honda, relegated to docile daily commuter.
You need a "MY OTHER CAR'S A 'VETTE" bumper-sticker!
2014th lmfao
Nope, CC - longest vehicle in continuous production = Chevrolet Suburban by nearly three decades over the Corvette.
zzoott60 suburban isn't a car
Did he really say chass-is?
The dialogue between these fellas is painfully awkward at times
The 70's were terrible for cars!
Steve Ballmer 70/72 were killer
It seems like you have to pull teeth to get a response from the so called "specialist." Every response required it's own question and a prompting. Most annoying.
Spayshul
Karpo knows what he's talking about. He owns a beautiful Corvette. THE PWIG is just another lowlife talking anonymous shots on the Internet. PWIG get off your couch and get a job and LIFE!
LOVE MY VETTEs - C-5 Big Butt look? Are you kidding? The C-5 is downright gorgeous. Now the C-4 - ugly..and the new Camarovette...looks like it has dental braces...lol
D Kendrick the C4 ZR1 had a nice big hips
This guys going to do his homework before he opens his mouth doesn’t even know generation timelines
Csaba pretending to like Corvettes is like a vegetarian talking about barbecue,he looks at Corvettes and wish they were Hondas,if it was up to him we'll be walking to this day and automobiles never existed.
You love children though.
I hate Karpo. He's clueless. He's clearly bullshitting the whole time.
they both are bald
Karpo needs to speak a bit more, he says nothing really.
i just don't like vettes... nothing special about this cars
JohnLong then go buy a Prius ass clown
Meh.
I want to be Larry Bowmen lol
