A somewhat similar event to this Fri-Sat occurred on Fri 7 - Sat 8 December 1990. That time some areas, such as the north east Midlands, saw an enormous snowfall of up to a foot locally and with some drifting (though I think it began as rain). But it's 30 years on in a warming world, as well as ten days earlier in the 'winter' season. So a repeat probably not likely.
It was really bad last night in Wirral,NW England. I was on a night shift & there was strong gusts of wind, lights flickering & lightning coming from Liverpool but no thunder
