I feel like the rest of this album is going to be very different from this. Similar to what they did with the stage single in comparison to the rest of the album. I've been a fan of theirs for 22 years and musically I find this to be amazing. It's very different. There's a lot to digest and breakdown but after a few listens it becomes almost peaceful. Keep up the awesome work man.

For one listen or two I think it’s really good, but not my cup of tea to jam to. I think M.Shadows voice has aged a bit in a good way and the dissonant opening riff compliments it very well.

As a huge A7x fan this song is a hell of a treat.
The production is very different, I remember that they said that they were drawing inspiration from Kanye West and weirdly enough it shows haha.
    M. Shadows sounds a bit odd tho, I think I need a couple listens to get used to his new vocal style.
As far as guitar goes, Syn just knocks it out of the park once again, this man is a genius.
It's a weird song to put out has a first single, but I think it works to give an overall idea of what the album is gonna be all about.
Hopefully we get a heavy ass second single kinda like what we got with God Damn off The Stage

Headphones to absorb that bass and all the nuance . This is going to be a banger in the car as well with the bass. Thinking how this is going to fit in to the album as a whole is interesting. It’s the 3rd track so this might be a comedown from a much more energetic beginning. They already have notes that it’s going to be meant to be listened to and consumed as a whole. I think they do that really well.

This one's a grower for sure. I think your point about it being almost "trance-like" is an excellent way to describe it and, given the theme, had to have been what they were going for. The idea of being faced (or literally shown, here) with your own cosmic irrelevance and just being numb to it. The more I watch this video the heavier that idea gets, and the music supports it hauntingly.

Definitely felt like this could be a Muse song. I enjoyed it. And the video is fantastic.

If this single is any hint, they are continuing the prog "interstellar" vibe from their last album. It wasn't my favorite but I commend A7x for trying new stuff 23 years into their career. I wish other bands still did that (looking at you Metallica)

I dont know why i have the feeling this is like the weakest song of the album haha, im slowly loving it more, and that excites me, Avenged Sevenfold is probably the band i´ve listened the most in my life, being a fan since 2011, at this point, pretty much half of my life, and they have never disapointed me, so im ready for this, btw fav A7X song? right now Fermi Paradox

People aren't kidding when they say this song grows on you. I like to think A7x was my gateway band into metal, so they were my favorite for a long time so I was a little disappointed by this song because my expectations were just different from what they're doing here. I like the song now and can't wait to see what the rest of the album is like. Can't say I have one favorite song by them so I'll say my top 3 are Sunny Disposition, Creating God, and Not Ready To Die.

One thing people are complaining about is shadow's voice. His voice sounds MUCH better than the last time we heard hime sing. Listen to his song with These Grey Men. His voice could barely give anything and he couldn't even sing normally without rasp. Now he can sing clean notes easily. The vocal rest did him well. I think it's stupid that people were expecting his voice to sound like it did on earlier albums after he had like 20 years of vocal abuse

Technically it's only been five years since we got a new Avenged Sevenfold song Mad Hatter released in 2018 for Black Ops 4 zombies

That repeating riff reminds me of a siren - like The Purge. I really like this song and the video! Hard to choose a favorite A7X song.

Feels like this would fit in really well on a prog metal concept album. Not an avenged fan (sorry, no favourite song!), but this was really good.

The skeleton looking at the suicide note on the fireplace at the end of the video, blew me away. Beautiful song and video.

Honestly this song really doesnt do it for me. I wasn't a huge fan of The Stage except for a few songs. Hopefully the rest of this album isn't this experimental.

Intro Is Very NiN and then it goes into this Muse like thing which should be a great Combo but Matt’s Vocals are the worst they have ever been. I’ll always love Waking The fallen & even the stuff after that grew on me but this track makes the New Metallica Sound like a Masterpiece.

I love that you review and give pros and cons at the end with a score. But I’d be curious to have updated scores a year after the album released if you are able to get many listens in.
So I’d like to flip that one con of yours around to a pro. I believe, as art, they intentionally left out a climax. Based off of the theme and the message, it’s a dreary existential feeling of being a god, yet mortal.. and one day nothing… putting the solo at the end with the character’s existential crisis.. and how it ends kind of abruptly… it’s perfect. The whole vibe fits the story… I think Matt’s vocal style of being a bit strained, not full lung power, was completely intentional.
    So excited for the album!
