  • Have you ever wondered how to operate a big offshore boat? There is a lot more to operating an offshore boat than your average pontoon or runabout. In this week's video we take my new to me Fountain Lightning 35 out for a high speed run and discuss the controls and what it takes to get it up on top of the water. Comment any questions or suggestions below on what you would like to see! Subscribe to the channel to see more videos on this boat, poker runs, car builds, and more!

      Yeah i agree. This video was filmed like 2 weeks after i bought it and my last boat had blue motors and was only a 32, i never used tabs. The guy told me to use the tabs to get it on plane lol. Once i found out i didnt need to i never do now. I need to make a new video there was a lot of stuff wrong with this one.

      @@CARSTUDIOYT If you want to see something cool, look up 'dollar marine special' on YT. Its a clip of an Apache racing offshore key west in 1990. The guy in the middle is my uncle on the steering. He used to race at Lake Cumberland Ky as well and set a record in the 80s.
      The one on the throttles is Phil Lipscheutz, which he owns Lipship performance in Miami. He builds badass custom cigarettes. He has 3 mini cigs that he takes around to poker runs. Little 22s that run about 97mph.
      That cigarette in the movie All about the Benjamins was his. I think his wifes actually. But if you look up Lipship performance online you will see his work and boats he has for sale. Thats my childhood dream.
      Cigarette has always been my fav just bc being around them when I was a kid. He used to have me take off the Apache stickers when I was little and that was the coolest thing to me.
      But I do appreciate and love a nice fountain, outerlimits or MTI. Formula makes one hell of a boat too. I watch all the tours of boat manufacturers on YT lol. The cats are neat and will always have the top end but im a V hull guy all the way.

      @@CARSTUDIOYT Also if youre ever up for a fun road trip we have annual poker runs here at Cumberland Ky. Tons of fountains, outerlimits, cigs, everything. And its like mardi gras on the water the whole weekend. Always great footage online and YT.
      A skater flipped in 2013 doing 160 and they didn't make it unfortunately
      We also have Thunder Run and the annual 'raft up'. Which in 2010 we broke NCs record for having the most boats rafted together at one time. We set the record with 1,652 boats.
      Now its a annual event and theres live bands that play on the water and everything. But its good people here, always glad to have more.

    Nice 👍 boat but I’m a little disappointed in the topend speed! With twin big blocks probably producing 850hp combined you’d think it would hit like 90mph plus. But I’m no boat expert either. Fastest boat I have owned was a 1997 Crestliner 1700 fishing boat with a outboard 115hp Johnson That did 53mph+ all aluminum boat btw. Boat actually gained about 2 mph by taking the engine cover off Throttle body air filter box off. Hahahahaha talk about ram air to the engine then but it made a difference and rpms picked up about 200rpms by doing that. So this is why I’m disappointed in your speed runs. You got 710hp more then I had but only did 22mph more. That boat must weigh like three times more then ours did if not more.

    • @CARSTUDIOYT
      @CARSTUDIOYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      850 hp is not a lot for a boat like mine. It takes at least 1100-1200hp to reach 90 mph. My boat also weighs around 9k lbs give or take

      53 on GPS or the notoriously optimistically inaccurate factory "wishometer"? 😂
      I have had many guys tell me how fast their boat was and they went by the factory speedometer. Then when they run next to my boat on GPS they see how slow their boat really is.
      Also, this is a 35' Fountain. That's a lot of weight and more hull in water for more hydrodynamic drag. the more hull in the water the more power it takes to move it. That's why they put steps in the hull now to get the boat out of the water. Also why cats run faster because they pack air which lifts it out of the water.

    Please god don’t listen to this guys instructions. You should never need tabs and drives to get that boat out of the water, you should be able to use throttle and the right prop’s. He’s so worried about tabs but not paying attention to throttle sync by the gauges it looks like they are about 300 rpm off but he is talking so much nonsense about tabs and drives I can’t here the harmonics of the motors.
