I will try again... one of the effects of the nonstop bombing of roads and rail lines all over Europe was that it made it impossible for the Germans to send food and medicine to the camps (the allies knew this obviously) and that is why there were so many deaths in the work camps.

Ah, fond memories of IL-2: 1946 bomb runs. I see that the limitations of long distance rendering of ground targets remain. The buildings' conditions (i.e. intact or destroyed) cannot be seen until you are almost at the drop point. I recognize Memphis Belle's squadron letters (DF-A), but the other markings would be for a different airplane. Is such intended?
Building render distance is on the wip list. I have a set of buildings i can control it for, but we didn't do that to these yet. Yeah, i made a set of 91st BG skins and DF A is not intended to be the Belle.
This looked really nice, the bomb run seemed to be quite good with no weird behavior. What are the things you would like to see improved or changed for example?
Current fix / needed features list: Day: - Taxi to takeoff for big flights. (Maximum size was increased from 4 to 24.) - Head on attacks by heavy / heavyly loaded aircraft often go low and fire into thin air - Big flights tend to attack the same aircraft with way too many flight members (8 escorts going after the same attacking fighter for example.) - Need new B-17 internal model. (Still missing two playable crew members - navigator and radio operator.) - Big flights ignore "set target" waypoint option. - AI ground avoidance system has to be remade. - Escort overhaul. (Vanilla system is terrible and incompatible with formations as big as a Combat Wing.) Night: - Night bombers should dynamically perform corkscrew maneuver, when their rear gunners open fire. - Night bombers don't perform corkscrew, when under attack by a player. (It works for AI attacks.) - Planes are rendered plain black in our current darker nights. (Need a bit of light, they are actually just rgb 000000000.) - Make night bombers actively engage target indicator flares. (red / green / blue etc TI flares) - Add multiplayer radar operator slots to nightfighters. (Bf 110, Ju-88, Mosquito etc.) At the moment only the pilot can see the radar. This setup is pointless and stupid.
The progress so far is spot on, I would suggest gunner abilities if possible and a little more smoothness in the bombay doors and bombs release. Looks great though and cant wait to try it out one day.
I always set the bombers to 50% veteran and 50% normal. Could probably just up that and have a ton more gunner fire. I disagree with criticizing the gunners, though. Once you gun yourself the first time - against the new head on AI - you realize that you simply miss many fighter flybies.
@@Fishyyy I totally agree 100% on missing. That is extremely accurate. It was very hard to accurately shoot down a fighter in a flyby. So you are able to control all gunners in this game? If so I withdraw my second.
Good video however does anyone else think the bomb bay doors that are open just look really odd. They just look too straight at the moment. Would love to see them more rounded to match the fuselage. Hope this can be tweaked in the future. Love B!7's :-). Thanks for the video

When I originally played it, it constantly had updates being put out by the community, and I’d like to try and have all the updated sounds, paint jobs, etc without having to download a hundred different things on top of it…
I don't remember exactly, but camera mods are an issue with 4.13 style cockpits. NG cam let's me at least load into the game, with such a replay. Standard visual mod doesn't.

This is very unrealistic. Why? I've flown on a B-17 many many times. First of all, the entire aircraft is rattling in various ways. You have cables under tension making noise, the air frame and aircraft skin are under pressure, you have wind leaking in, you have equipment jostling around and making noise. The engines are a constant steady roar and depending where you are in the aircraft, sound differently. Also, the surrounding sky is a lot more alive than in this "simulation." The aircraft is never standing still and the outside horizon and clouds or the ground below represents this. Nothing really moving around. These company could have done a much better job in the sound department but lost how the aircraft behaves in it's 3D space. The immersion is factor is low.
