Awesome catching the FL powerboat club coming out on the 1st leg of their Key West poker run!! The dark matte grey Yellowfin was incredible!! Even had a FLIR pod on the t-top.
Thank you for the video . As I have said in the past I study hull design and performance . I have studied / watched the midnight express now no less than six times . I would be a fool to say that that boat is not capable . It is making good way in some real snot . But she also took a lot of water on board as the bow ( to me ) doesn't seem to have a lot of flare . The last thing you want is to throw the water up in the air for at that point you don't know where it is going to land . Now that being said if the winds at your back , not so bad . But if the winds in your face guess where all that waters going . Many times I have pulled out of Point Judith Rhode Island with a dry tail wind and told my crew ," we're going to have a wet ride back ". That's why I like a big Carolina flare . Just my two cents .
I agree. The sleek bow is a thing of beauty but as far as rough water practicality it's a bit sub-par unless, of course, you aren't touching the waves at all.
I live in Canadian Pacific northwest, love watching your vids. These boats look so strange and un suitable for our environment. They are super interesting and often wierd lookin. Florida has the strangest boats to us. The massive "console" style with the flat roofs are a trip! And the power boats are something else, don't ever see them here. Deadheads everywhere here, too dangerous.
I love watching the boats in this inlet; but this inlet is short... You should see the boats busting through the MILES of 'inlet' at Hatteras Inlet, Oregon Inlet, Ocracoke Inlet, Beaufort Inlet on a sloppy day... there are not many videos on that....
At least 2 drivers know what a comfortable, reasonable speed is ! I'm amazed how poorly most of the massive, turned down bow single hulls handle what is really only moderate chop. Speed is important and there is such a thing as " wave gap ". Smaller boats seem to fit the sea better than the 45ft plus that plough into the 2nd wave ,straddling 2 instead of 1 at a time. Once again the Cats rule. 😎👍
Marine 7 627 HP outboard! 😂 I’d like to see one on a Stroker Bass Boat! They have no horsepower limit! And this a outboard! Legally you can install one of these engines on a Stroker Bass Boat! If your rich and you see this, do it you would get millions of views and subs to pay for it!
Glad to see some of these captains running their outboards trimmed in to keep the bow down, especially the last 2 boats in this video. Only way to deal with these kinds of conditions.
@@hakonolavdahle As in life, "everything in moderation", is generally the safest and smoothest way when taken as a whole. Also keep in mind that a boat steers from the back just like a forklift; there are many pro's and con's to that.
There's definitely a difference if going against or with the waves. I can only tell from boats I know and especially against bow up results in a lot dryer and smoother ride.
Not knowing anything about boats as a utahn lol what's THE ideal boat for the roughest haulover? Are these center consoles best ? And saw a few that have a a gap inbetween the outsides they seem smooth or is the the cigarettes? Really curious
Other than in contact with the ground a decent analogy is the same that works for tires in water, mud, and snow; wide tires on a vehicle with a high power-to-weight ratio will be the fastest when the surface is smooth but is not what you want most all of the time. I hope that makes sense, it can also be applied to sleds/snow machines/snowmobiles where you want to be on top of powder but most of the time in most locations you're better off having contact with the ground. Water is "hard" and resists moving -- it's more like mashed potatoes than chicken broth.
Must be like 8+ knot tide ripping we see that catmaran thae caddy ride of the boats killer amazing they don't cavate the vehules seems like as mutch as there hoping with only a lil bit of lower yunites they hold water good to props nice lotta $$$ 160.000 in motors lol
You'd be hard pressed to pick a better shop, & true gentleman, to restore you're Cigarette 28' Open. They don't come any better than Mark McManus. Apache did a dynamite job on you're boat, looks super! Congratulations with you're "new" boat; have lots of fun in it & most importantly, be safe.
Dam it I like to see silly boats with big engines sink but nope dam it. If these open front type of boats were in the UK they would be filled with water in no time.
Yah bud! I'm in western canada and 90% of these boats are fantasticly non-reasonable here. Those HUGE Florida style console boats would be a frozen nightmare. Forget life jackets, people who recreational fish, wear full survival suits on our west coast.
@@elfranko81 Well what can I say you are right. Just one more thing about those stupid boats on these channels with their huge engines they sink well and that is another huge problem environmentally. In the UK the boats are tested to extreme as not to sink even filled with water or capsized with engine and fuel. Oh well.
That green Midnight Express was looking awesome, till he stuffed the nose. As big and powerful as that thing is stuffing it and taking on all that water they had alot of trouble even getting back on plane after that. Then he's got to worry about a following sea breaking over his transom and killing his motors and more water in the boat then he could hit the rocks and disable or sink a $1million boat. Not to mention the others who are just as susceptible to damage, call me crazy but that don't look like much fun.
3:40 The guy in the cat is pushing it to pass the Cigarette that just went out the cut, then he hits the waves and he's like "Oh crap"! I would be saying the same thing...😳

Loose anchor. One of my biggest worries always. It’s happened to 2 friends of mine. Smashed one in the head.... the other smashed the heck out the boat on one side and ended up wrapping chain into lower unit
Sweet boat isn't she, nice calm captain just rolling out the inlet. I would do a light gray interior to ease the glare on the eyes when catching (not fishing).😎
New Channel!!!
Is the there any footage of an old Formula 233 anywhere?
I keep smashing the like button twice but it just takes the like away
Freeman is by far the best ride on this video. Makes it look easy
I hit the like button three times 👍
You got it!!! Thanks
That black bottom center that took its time going out was absolutely gorgeous.
If your talking about the white inside with black bottom outside and white motors she's a beauty!!!!!!!
It’s called a yellowfin. I think that might’ve been a 42 or a 39
I'd literally sit out there all day every day and just watch this!

Working on it

That Outer Limits was stunning.
If I had a dollar for every time I've seen a Midnight Express stuff it's the bow I'd have a nice boat myself.

Holy sh!t the first one was awesome
4:25 best sound in the video. 🤤🤤
Nothing like a good salt bath for all your electronics
About as good as bath salts for a tweaker
I was just thinking that as well, hope they use lots of sealant.
The salt eats the corrosion! 😂
The outer limits at 2:01 looks so good
Hah, I smashed the like button twice and it undoes the thumbs up. Niiiiiice!
Don't matter, he'll still get a notification

The Cats ride so much smoother
Sure looks fun.

Never thought I’d be torn between buying a 60 foot motor yacht or a 60 foot center console

I never thought I would ever see the day a boat had 6 450HP Mercury outboard motors on the back! Or 600HP G.M. LS outboards!

That depends on a lot of factors. Boat length, wave incidence, height, speed and COG among others. With some boats you would stuff the bow.
I heard several give the advice to trim the bow slightly up when going with the waves, and slightly down when going against the waves.

Your boat engines have tilt please use when the sea is rough it really can help you
How much does a boat like this cost? and what are the brands?

the twin hulls just laugh at this place
