It is quite refreshing to discover a person who reveals his faults as well as his accomplishments. You know instantly there will be no ego problem.

It’s very unfortunate that videos like this getting low attention nowadays.
Mr. Lamport is a legend in the history of CS. Thank you for sharing this!

This seems like a strange comment, it seems to suggest that videos like this would have gotten more attention during other days, which ignores the fact that videos like this have only recently been available at all and, even more recently, acquired a platform of the size that youtube provides - I think it's, in fact, the reverse of what you say, it seems astounding that so many people, have the ability to watch and, do watch videos like this these days.

I had read about the algorithm and now stumbling on the creator's video is just awesome

Atomicity of reads and writes came as a discovery, that was humble.

I landed here just after studying the algorithm in my class . Thankyou sir

"It felt nice having solved an impossible problem." I love it when CS gurus make me laugh out loud.

Hi Mr. Leslie Lamport, I enjoyed your video, but may I recommend that you see a dermatologist (skin Doctor) as soon as possible as I noticed a dark spot on the right side of your neck. In another video I saw of you it seems to be growing bigger. I have studied both Computer Science and Biology. Regards, David

The so-called "Bakery Algorithm" is so trivial that I devised it in an afternoon to solve a real-time operating system "problem", and enhanced the next day with a priority-aging scheme to prevent deadlocks.

@@user-tz9jh6pv2j Stop believing in the "great man" interpretation of history lol. Your comment is a logical fallacy. Just because someone created or "discovered" something, doesn't mean it wouldn't have been discovered/created by someone else lol.

Good job. Now stop throwing flowers at yourself. Any decent algorithm/system engineer has implemented similar stuff couple dozens of times per month. Nothing new, not less impressive, but nothing to boast about. Carry on.

I'm sure the guy (as well as many others in computer science) had their hay day back in the day and deserve respect for it, but everyone's trying to be guru legend nowadays. It's so tiring. Current day social media markets egging it on.
