Yes, we are to pray for each other! However, you can't ask dead people to pray for you! The Bible says this about the dead: Ecc 9:5-6 KJV 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
We ask for intercession from our friends. Whenever you ask your friend to pray for you you are doing the same thing we Catholic do. We believe that the soul is eternal so the people who were alive on earth are alive next to the throne of the Almighty, Mt 17:1-8 Give Scott Hahn a call. He would love to chat with you both. You guys are on fire for Jesus! Why not go all out and try to convert an old x Protestant!!!!! It’d be cool to see that video. Cheers guys! AMDG
That is great you guys have a ministry. However, there are many misconceptions you have about the Catholic Church which are not new to the Catholic faith. Jesus founded his Church when he said, “you are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it”. (Matthew 16:18) With this in mind there can only be one Church. In one of the Lord’s teachings he talks about dealing with sin in the Church. (Matthew 18:15) Before ascending back into heaven Jesus said to his disciples, “now do as I command you baptizing the nations in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19) From this point forward, Jesus and His followers passed down sacred tradition through “word of mouth”. Additionally, the New Testament shows Apostle Paul talking about taking the body and blood of Jesus Christ in a worthy manner. (1 Corinthians 11:27) This is not symbolism. Jesus is true when he says, you must drink my blood and eat my body, otherwise you have no life in you. (John 6:53) Many Protestants have the claim that the Catholics do not follow what the Bible teaches. We have to ask ourselves who has the authority to interpret scripture? Many Protestants have disagreed with one another of what the Bible is actually teaching. As a result, thousands of denominations have been founded by man, not Jesus Christ. A Catholic and a Protestant will continuously go back and fourth on what they believe is true when they read the Bible. I listen to the Catholics, because this traces back from the start when Jesus passed down his teachings to his disciples, apostles, and bishops. He founded a Church that would not be overcome by the gates of hades, and that stands true today. You mentioned the doctrine of the intercession of the saints. In Revelation 8:4: “And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel”. Luke 16:19, Christ’s parable of the rich man and Lazarus suggests that the dead can pray for the living. In 1 Timothy 2:1-5 St Paul encourages people to “make intercession for all men”. In 2 Timothy 1:16-18 St. Paul interceded for his deceased friend, showing that he believed those who had died in Christ were still within his reach. The Doctrine of the Immaculate Conception states, “from the first moment of her conception, the Blessed Virgin Mary was, by the singular grace and privilege of Almighty God, and in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of Mankind, kept free from all stain of original sin.”
Dude you need to talk to someone educated so you can learn. The church didnt just "come up with the immaculate conception." Did scripture not exist until the council of Rome because the Catholic church just "made it up." No it was already in the deposit of the faith. The same is true for the immaculate conception. The smartest thing you said was "dont take our word for it." Because your word is a man made tradition.
You are sadly deceived....Yeshua/Jesus didn't come to start a new religion. He came to set us straight to the fact that the Father wants those who worship Him to worship in Spirit and in Truth and to accept the salvation that He sent through His Son Yeshua/ Jesus!
Shame on you for sowing the seeds of doubt into this old lady. You are the lost leading the lost. Im sure your intent is there to do what is right, but you are doing the devils work.
(Think in the Spirit and open your eyes to the fullness of the truth. ) John 6: 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” 1 Timothy 3: 15 the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. (The Church that Jesus established the Universal Church.) Matthew 16: 18 I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (Notice it says Church, one Church.) ( When was you church founded?)
In the words of reformer Martin Luther, the doctrine of sola Scriptura means that "what is asserted without the Scriptures or proven revelation may be held as an opinion, but need not be believed." Roman Catholicism flatly rejects this principle, adding a host of traditions and Church teachings and declaring them binding on all true believers with the threat of eternal damnation to those who hold contradictory opinions In Roman Catholicism, "the Word of God" encompasses not only the Bible, but also the Apocrypha, the Magisterium (the Church's authority to teach and interpret divine truth), the Pope's ex cathedra pronouncements, and an indefinite body of church tradition, some formalized in canon law and some not yet committed to writing Whereas evangelical Protestants believe the Bible is the ultimate test of all truth, Roman Catholics believe the Church determines what is true and what is not. In effect, this makes the Church a higher authority than Scripture. Creeds and doctrinal statements are certainly important. However, creeds, decisions of church councils, all doctrine, and even the church itself must be judged by Scripture-not vice versa. Scripture is to be accurately interpreted in its context by comparing it to Scripture-certainly not according to anyone's personal whims Scripture itself is thus the sole binding rule of faith and practice for all Christians. Protestant creeds and doctrinal statements simply express the churches' collective understanding of the proper interpretation of Scripture. In no sense could the creeds and pronouncements of the churches ever constitute an authority equal to or higher than Scripture Scripture always takes priority over the church in the rank of authority. Roman Catholics, on the other hand, believe the infallible touchstone of truth is the Church itself. The Church not only infallibly determines the proper interpretation of Scripture, but also supplements Scripture with additional traditions and teaching. That combination of Church tradition plus the Church's interpretation of Scripture is what constitutes the binding rule of faith and practice for Catholics. The fact is, the Church sets itself above Holy Scripture in rank of authority.

You are correct brother no one has ascended to heaven because they were dead in their trespasses. Jesus atone of that in the cross. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Praying FOR people as an intercessor is in the scriptures.

Where do you think the Bilble came from - understand this, then you can begin preaching
In the words of Marton Luther "Sic volo, sic iubeo, sit pro ratione voluntas". That is the truth about the "solas."

The Catholic Church is the first & true Christian Church, Period !

Jesus Christ is the foundation.
Your pride will obscure the truth. Sacred Tradition existed before the Bible and Sacred Scripture.

The problem is what Catholic belief has done with past ‘saints’ they gave them an image to pray to.. Peter does/did not want anyone to pray to him.
