To me Dance of December Souls is the best. The reason for that is weird. Not the best because it just sounds the best, but because it has this special kind of sound and atmosphere on it that no band has ever been able to recreate, i looked for something that sounded and felt similar, many bands tried, many came close, but none were able to do it, it is the most unique album I've ever heard

I haven't heard any of the 90's albums yet but every other album has been excellent, I've been saving Brave Murder Day for a rainy day because Katatonia with Mikael Åkerfeldt and his screams sounds like a dream come true!

I just did a general Top 10 fave albums ever (and cars) on my channel, and The Great Cold Distance is on it (and numerically I’d probably put in 3-4ish). It always astonishes me when someone who loves the band puts TGCD low in ranking because it completely blows me away as a complete work. Simply incredible 😵💫🤩😍🤘🏻.I absolutely respect your opinion, however, and glad to run into another massive fan 🤙🏻 (Love Omertà as well!)
I saw them on their Dead End Kings tour in 2012, funny enough it’s the album that captivated me the least. Night is the New Day (2009) was and still Is Massive in sound & scope

I like all Katatonia except perhaps a couple of the newer albums that aren't super distinctive, but my top 3 are definitely Dance of December Souls, Brave Murder Day and Great Cold Distance. Which makes Questy's ranking a bit awkward for me lol. "Partially agreed" and let's leave it at that lol. Also... I remember how I got Night and a New Day when it came out. It bored me. I figured I needed a few listens... it still bored me. And I tried it again now to see if it improves... still bores me. Night is the New Day is the duller parts of Great Cold Distance, but the entire album is basically that. It's not bad, but it's really just background music compared to most of their other stuff.
I still love night is the new day a perfect depressing album for me best atmosphere out of any of the albums but I can see why you’d say it’s boring as it keeps the same tone all way through

I was the opposite to you though, loved The Fall Of Hearts when it came out had a bit of a time getting into City Burials though!!! I just remember when each album came out from Brave and just playing every album to DEATH until the next one came out then just wear that album out!!! Quest For Metal Yep one of the few bands where there is no wrong answer for which is your favorite. Discouraged ones I don’t consider the worst album I just say it’s my least favorite. Scarlet Heavens, Cold Ways, Deadhouse are awesome songs

@@Questformetal For me they had a slight decline per album after Last Fair Deal all the way down to Night is the New Day (still great album) and then they blew up again with Fall of Hearts and all the new prog influences. Then they just crashed all the way back down with City Burials which I think is just a Jonas Renske solo album. The instrumentation just took a massive nosedive IMO. Gonna go through most of your videos though. Love band album discography rankings. Good stuff!

I was the opposite to you though, loved The Fall Of Hearts when it came out had a bit of a time getting into City Burials though!!! Just getting into it properly now and loving it for the amazing album that is!!! I just remember when each album came out from Brave and just playing every album to DEATH until the next one came out then just wear that album out!!! What is your opinion of the early EP's Like Jhva Elohim Meth, For The Funerals To Come, Sounds Of Decay and the Saw You Drown EP??? Did you get the split with Primordial???

I'm a boring person, my personal favourites are just the 5 first albums in no order in particular but Discouraged Ones at first.
The lastest ones are good too I really enjoy all of them but I prefer the more doomy dark style from before.

Quest For Metal Yep one of the few bands where there is no wrong answer for which is your favorite. Discouraged ones I don’t consider the worst album I just say it’s my least favorite. Scarlet Heavens, Cold Ways, Deadhouse are awesome songs

@@Questformetal For me they had a slight decline per album after Last Fair Deal all the way down to Night is the New Day (still great album) and then they blew up again with Fall of Hearts and all the new prog influences. Then they just crashed all the way back down with City Burials which I think is just a Jonas Renske solo album. The instrumentation just took a massive nosedive IMO. Gonna go through most of your videos though. Love band album discography rankings. Good stuff!
