Thank you Hmong Bedtime Stories for retelling the story of my cousin Dara Thao. Her parents were informed of this story and they cried while listening to it. Her mother wanted to personally call and thank you for retelling her daughter's story as well, but couldn't find a number. Our pain of losing Dara will never cease until Kor Lee is punished for killing his own wife and 21 month old child. Rest in peace Dara Thao and Kurtis Lee. I love and miss you both so much.
Cheemin Thao the thing is we know he and or his gang affiliation did it. He was abusive to her and everybody in the family knew that. The problem was that during that time (90s early 2000) we didn’t push hard enough to have the police investigate the husband. Not only that but the Lacey Peterson murder was also happening so that case took up national news.
Daisy Thoj I remember this case and it was really sad. Don’t know her or her husband. But I remember it was during some sport festival and her husband was there running around with some little girls. He was this ugly tiny skinny little dude. Can’t believe he has the heart to hurt his wife and son like that when he’s so ugly himself lol 😂 For real he’s not even good looking to be treating his wife so bad lol 😂

Abusive husbands towards their Hmong wives aren't right, and there needs to be a resolution for these situations. Everyone deserves a chance to live. We need counseling and educating our community members on these issues so there can be fewer cases of these domestic violent abuse that ends up having a family tragedy. Condolences to this Hmong family who have gone through this horrible story.

Hmong people have too much pride and ego to take marriage counseling. They refuse to seek help that can better their marriage. They don't believe in counseling. I'm tired of the saying "ua siab ntev".
I agree, and I think the "ua siab nthev" sloan from our parents and elders are too outdated. There needs to be more of a professional guidance and structural process for our next generation of Hmong-Americans to progress with their family and relationship situations. I'll be finishing up my Master's-of-Arts program in Psychology and Counseling soon so I hope to provide resources for the Hmong community to address these issues to be resolved.

This story is about my cousin Dara Thao who married Kor Lee. He was never convicted for the murder of my cousin. Fresno police claimed that she committed suicide and killed her child.

This is so incredibly sad and it's so easy for us as outsiders to look in and say that she was stupid for not getting herself out of the relationship, but honestly... her pain was probably deeper than any one of us can even imagine. When you're stifled by your husband, your community and even possibly some of the elder hmong men from your own clan, it might have been harder to come out of than we really expect. They need to re-investigate Kor Lee.
I am from Visalia. I remember this story. What i remembered he was locked up for being with minor. It was a step cousin's daughter who reported to police.
Been one too many years but he's getting his karma. His drama with his 3rd wife (now ex) is all over fb and their relationship sounds exactly the same!!! She's truly luck to had survived. RIP to the mother and son. Feeling so broken for the mom and loved ones.

This is a sad story of her life. Nobody knows the truth of how she and her son died. She was happy to live with her husband and don't care about what other people says of her life be like in the future. She probably knows that she has no other options to get away so she will rather die in his hands if he doesn't love her. If she's not happy of her death in hell or heaven afterward then she should come back to find whoever her killer is.
Since the story didn’t get the media attention it deserved why don’t the family open the case, make a video on social media telling those of us who didn’t know or forgot their story. I’m sure it would get the media’s attention and hopefully another investigation to finally get some closure.
