A wee tip…after each bite of curry have some naan on its own or dipped into chutney, that will take the capsaicin off your palate and reduce the heat effect, or even rice on its own, don’t mix it with the sauce! Starchy foods help quell the heat…I’ve grown chillies for over 20 years so I know! Think I’ll be trying this next week after the gym
I’ve had this curry a few weeks ago in our local Wetherspoons. It was beautiful. I love extra hot curries. I really enjoy going to Spoons and I agree with you 100%, if it wasn’t for them, everywhere else’s prices would be even higher than they already are. It’s a shame they’re selling off 32 of there pubs. No doubt they’ll be bought by these posh chains that charge the earth for a tiny meal on a saucer lol. This is a bargain for the price and when I had mine, I gave it a 10/10. I’m going with a 10 for yours too mate. Well done for attempting it 🔥👍👍
Had this twice now each time I think I’ve made a big mistake and not going to be able to eat it, but I end up almost licking the plate!, keep up the great vids Lee
Just found your channel fella and already binging it! And you’ve got the same view of Spoons as myself…..it is what it is and they do a great job for the price. Keep up the great vids 👍
I think your building tolerance to the heat more and more, well done mate. Great value, an extra quid for pint. I bet its packed with students in their cups on the weekend. You really seem to be churnin out content lately and I love it. You should do a vid on how you and DJ met and became mates, im guessing Tenerife?
That looked great Lee, the price was really good. 9/10 from me today. I have a jar of Tikka masala cooking sause I'm gonna try soon but I'm afraid it might be a little too hot....lol....onwards.
Agreed, Lee! Gooseberry Bush is definitely the nicest of the city centre Spoons but it is just that bit out of the way... which is probably exactly why it's the nicest. Very much in the Trent Uni bubble. As for the tram, permanent transit corridors are a boon for urban development around them. Plus they're rapid over dedicated lines. Bus routes that can be withdrawn overnight and are slow over the entire route just don't have the same effect on urban development.
Great vlog Lee. I cannot understand why folk knock Wetherspoon or Spoons as we call ‘em. I’ve been using them since 1997 when my local one in town opened “The Troll Cart”. More recently we’ve had another open “The William Adams” and I love them. Cheap drinks, cheap cocktails, cheap food and the Thursday deal “Curry Club” is my favourite. Incidentally if you are ever in an UK airport, Spoons is dearer there due to the high rents that have to pay. The first ever Wetherspoon opened in 1979 North London Muswell Hill and it was just called Martin’s Freehouse after owner Tim Martin. The Wetherspoon bit was added later named after Tim’s New Zealand school teacher. The JD has recently been dropped but that part of the name descends from the 80s tv show The Dukes Of Hazzard, (hey DJ with Daisy Duke), and JD Boss Hogg remember him? Anyway enough of the history lesson, I do love a good curry and I could tell by the dark sauce over the meat that was a hot 🥵🥵🥵one. I couldn’t believe you polished it all off Lee but well done anyway. Lucky for some towns and cities that have brought the trams back. Blackpool always had the right idea and kept theirs however here in Great Yarmouth, it was the late thirties when we done away with ours to much dismay. Now we only have the horse carriages or Landaus and that famous Wally Trolley like you saw when you came here in the summer. Nice vlogs they were too. Keep up the good work Lee loving your vlogs and I would suggest go and grab some ice 🧊 water pretty quick👍😉
Wotherspoon's has always been there, it's always been consistently good, great at times. It's a beacon and always a location everyone knows about. Not a lot of people know how they make profit, but how they do is genius. Cannae beat a spoons. 👍👌👌👌👌
Had one this evening thinking it would be the usual 'super hot' rating that always ends up being as hot as a tikka masala. Five mins later and I'm there crying my eyes out chatting to my friend haha I thought it wasn't crazy hot but it's definitely a 'order with caution' meal for those who aren't used to chilli / hot curries. Was quite impressed with this one!
Nice vlog Lee ,someone should open a Weatherspoons in NJ I think it would take off! While I was in England this summer “ spoon s”in Southport is The only bar I’ve seen Corona Mexican beer on Tap,so with temperatures in the 80 s with no clouds I thought I was in Mexico Lol well Maybe Hoboken Take care
Well done for finishing it. I ordered this curry in the Ipswich spoons (definitely not one of the better ones) confidentiality expecting it to only be a pub curry vindaloo. Oh how wrong I was, it had good flavour but was so hot. I'm glad I tried it but it was a one time thing, back to a Madras or Rogan next time.
Hi. Amazing vid as always.😁 If you didn't know, you was meant to crumble up the poppadom onto the curry and eat it like that. Keep up the amazing content as always. 😄
I've only had a dip in that vindaloo sauce. Too hot for me. Spoon's curries may not be the finest but they're great value especially with a beer. Good review, Mac.
Top stuff, Lee! Some 'Spoons are rubbish, others are absolute gems. There's a few in central London that have ornate chandeliers... far from 'wouldn't be seen dead in there!'. If memory serves, I think it's near the banking district. Can't complain with any of the pricing at Wethies, also his respect for the history of the buildings. With the cost of living getting out of control, he's enabled many to still be able to enjoy a pint outside the house. The food is decent (although, I went off the lamb shank a while back, when I received one cold... that made me think he freezes his meals). Top review, Lee. Nb: I bet the curry wasn't that hot! ;)
You can't beat Spoons curry day every Thursday, it's a 10 for value - my wife likes the Chicken Tikka but I prefer the Chicken Tarka - it's a little 'otter ! ...........Taxi !
Hey Lee! I always think it depends on which Spoons you go to! They are not all the same. You really are brave to tackle that curry considering we know you can’t handle spicy food like that. Still it looks good and plenty of meat in the curry so can’t complain. Nothing like. a crispy poppadum and mango chutney. Yum. Take care 😘👍🏻
Hi Lee wow the curry looked fantastic mate we love a good curry. We have had the beef curry at the spoons that’s nice. Just looked on menu they don’t do it at cleveleys one or poulton (dam). Deffo a 9/10 fir that one Lee 😅👍 Caz & baz
Lee, it's insanely hot! I work there... I poured the curry onto some chips and ate it that way (after I finished work). On top of all the drink I needed to help cool my mouth down while eating... I set off walking home and I literally had to try and control my breathing 🤣 I thought I was guaranteed to be sick but luckily, I managed to keep it down! Thank you for all the exposure you give to Wetherspoons, and your custom is appreciated! Also, check out our new burger range, we have new ones that compare with McDonalds and Five Guys!
Lee your a legend for eating spicy food I love them too its good on the night out or just for a treat its so nice. I love the curry's at wetherspoons I have garlic nann with a soft drink a pint a diet Pepsi is good with the curries.
Love a spoons mate. When you get home put a toilet roll in the fridge you'll need it. Great video Lee as always. Next time take DJ he likes the spice.👍
You're description of a hot curry never ceases to amaze me Lee. Hats off for the 🔥 ... my only 'burning' question is - how did it feel the next day 😆 jokes aside great review as usual 👏
A great video as usual Lee. Off on a tangent... I know you're an AV geek so have you thought of doing a review of the Runway Visitor Park at Manchester Airport? You can have a tour of the Concorde there starting from £6. You also get to see all the arrival and departures from Manc Airport up close as well as other cool aircraft. Well worth an afternoon out and would make a great video IMHO!
Jeeeeeeze why the hell cant we have that in Maidstone. Well done for finishing that it looked really tasty. A well justified 9. That spoon must have a really good management team for putting the offers togeather. No sticky tables there i,m thinking.
Coming from a EV owner your tram statement rather confusing 🤣 Bolton had an amazing tram network that was deemed archaic and covered over to make way for the combustion engined vehicles. Sadly we're part of the Greater Manchester conurbation that's totally covered by the modern tram systems with the exception of our forgotten town. Elvis juice I think I'll pass on but Doombar at £2-19 a pint , that's a sure win👍 The meal......absolutely spot on mate and what value for money. It's a solid 10 from me.
Our Wetherspoons in Redhill is like an old fashioned pub strangers actually talk to each other. Where else can you go and have a few pints and a big breakfast on a Saturday night, get a seat and order on their app, no queuing etc. A family night out with food no problem go to Reigate you need a mortgage… brilliant!
Hi lee,I personally thought you did very well clearing your plate!I like my curries pretty hot,I had one of those nagas in chesterfield a few weeks ago and only managed half of it!my Wetherspoons in Ripley,Derby’s have a promotion on at the minute pint of worthingtons smooth for £1.79 a pint!!!the best spoons by far is the one in Buxton,Derby’s a bit more classier.
I have come to really love these places. Apart from their great value, they have a good old boozer atmosphere. The only thing you hear is a load of people talking/shouting (no SKY/music etc.). Plus they put on some excellent ale/cider! Great video as always, even if a bit disappointed at your capacity for spice!
@@nige3801 Hi mate yep, not nowadays Had very serious food poisioning when I went on holiday some years ago to Nth Africa. Can't eat spicy food anymore!! I use to love it. How ya doing pal, these Vlogs are keeping me sane, well almost!!! 😂😂🤪🤪😜
You did well with that one Lee, Silver fox would have loved it. You can't knock the prices for ale's £2.19 for Doombar and not much more for Abbot ale.
God Lee, you're such a woose! DJ would have wolfed that into him in no time! Looked good actually, nam bread could possibly have been a bit fresher but other than that, good value and credit to spoons for serving up a vindaloo that actually tasted like a proper one....just don't forget to put the bog roll in the fridge and catch you on the next one! 😜
I had my first ever vindaloo this year from wetherspoons and it was lovely. I thought that it would be hotter but I'm glad it wasn't as I'm not sure I would've enjoyed it. I'd like to know how it compares to a traditional Indian restaurant in regards to the spiciness.
Cannot find fault with that, the price point is excellent around £7 for a vindaloo , naan, rice, 2 poppadoms, chutney & a soft drink, looked good, like a spicy too. By sight 10 .. quality review 👍🏻
i had a hot curry at spoons in whitby before lockdown on a curry night, advertised at a million scovilles, (cant remember if it was this one or not), but i like my vindaloo's, eaten for the last 40 years more or less weekly in bradford, so i sort of know my stuff, and just thought it was marketing and wouldnt really be too hot, but was really surprised that it was exactly as advertised lol. i enjoyed it, and the wife was initially sceptical like me until i gave her a small taste - priceless, & i'll definately try it again when i get chance - great value.
I got to try that myself if my local has the vindaloo, I beat the Brick Lane City Spice one so, hopefully it should be a walk in the park. Hopefully a park with public toilets of course All the best Lee, playing catch up with all the vlogs again 😅
Totally agree re trams! I think it’s because councillors (who are not known for their brains usually) think they are twee and give the town a cosmopolitan look. They don’t. They are stupid things, cost a fortune to instal, dangerous to pedestrians, totally hopeless if one breaks down blocking the route.
Brave man for someone who doesn't like things too hot and spicey. Nothing wrong with Wetherspoons if you pick the right one. Who can grumble with Doombar and Guiness and other drinks on draught, as well as the food at those prices. Win Win if you ask me. All the best and hope you were ok the next day if you know what I mean.
To be honest, I tried that Vindaloo about 2 months back, it is quite mild I thought. I didn't like the taste very much either, it was a poor curry in my opinion. Top Vid as usual!
Just tried one while local in Heywood. Way hotter than expected! Was expecting a half arsed attempt at the heat level. But had a way more intense kick than expected! As yours. Decent amount of chicken. Generic sauce with a big heat kick! Tenner with a drink on a Thursday.
I have always thought the exact same thing regarding trams. You are the only other person who appears to have the same what is the point in trams when you could have a bus without the fuss of wires, rails and the chaos they cause to regular traffic flows.
I’m liking these budget foodie finds lee with the cost of living at the moment, great video
I'll give it a nine, that's an extra point for the entertainment you gave us. Looked very nice, I may be tempted myself.
Wow that's fantastic value looked lovely as well. Great vid as always Lee, thx mate

I honestly didn't think you'd do that. Fair play, well done👏
Again, Great video Lee! I love how you keep eating the hot stuff, even though its a challenge💪🏻👌🏻
9/10 - That looked just as good as what you might find in most indian restaurants - perhaps slightly better than some.
Had one this evening thinking it would be the usual 'super hot' rating that always ends up being as hot as a tikka masala. Love the content mate! More Spicy food please sir
I've only had a dip in that vindaloo sauce. Too hot for me. Spoon's curries may not be the finest but they're great value especially with a beer. Good review, Mac.
There was a pub near us called The Stork at Rest built on the site of an old maternity hospital.
Well done 👍 lee , that looked so yummy 😋. Take care my friend 🙏
Top stuff, Lee!

Nb: I bet the curry wasn't that hot! ;)
Wow, a nice surprise. The Gooseberry Bush was my local when I was at Nottingham Poly 1991 to 1994. Mansfield Bitter was my tipple back then :)
Having watched loads of your previous videos with spicy food. You did well to eat that 👌
You did well there Lee, looked nice and I would have said a 9 on the looks.
I ate this recently. It was hotter than any vindaloo I've eaten from an Indian.
I must say I had one today and blimey it was hot
@iain westley it's hot! And that is the main ingredient in a vindaloo for me. Although I've had many tastier ones in indian restaurants.
It was only ever going to end up one way, wasn’t it?? 🔥🔥😂😂
Tremendous value, though. Can’t wait to check it out.
You can't beat Spoons curry day every Thursday, it's a 10 for value - my wife likes the Chicken Tikka but I prefer the Chicken Tarka - it's a little 'otter ! ...........Taxi !
Ha, ha, comedy gold mate- nice to know we both have good taste !
I still have a Wetherspoon drinks menu from when I worked near Shipley/Bingley back in 2002, yes 20 years ago, draught Guinness 99p a pint.
Hey Lee! I always think it depends on which Spoons you go to! They are not all the same. You really are brave to tackle that curry considering we know you can’t handle spicy food like that. That looked a decent effort of a curry from Wetherspoons or any pub to be fair. 7.5/10.
Fair play finishing that!! I know you ain’t keen on spice so smashed it!
Well done Lee 👏🏼 Knowing how you are with 🔥 🥵 dishes I was impressed you finished it. You mouth must be getting tougher!🤣 very good 👍🏼😊 x
Looks a winner mate nice find 👌👍

It looked really nice did that curry, Going to order a takeaway one Friday or Saturday night for me and the good lady :)
Great place Spoons, value plus for food and booze. The Curry looked great, spicy yes, but that's curry, plenty of meat in there. 9 from me.
Love a spoons mate. When you get home put a toilet roll in the fridge you'll need it. Great video Lee as always. Next time take DJ he likes the spice.👍
Had this a few weeks ago and you can’t beat it for value , tasted great too and a beer of your choice 👍
Trams Lee?
They're for the greater good!
Now that looked like a fine curry - 10/10 VFM.
Spoon is brilliant, great value for money, great ambience too
You're description of a hot curry never ceases to amaze me Lee. Hats off for the 🔥 ... my only 'burning' question is - how did it feel the next day 😆 jokes aside great review as usual 👏

A great video as usual Lee. Off on a tangent...

the offers togeather. No sticky tables there i,m thinking.
Waking up wanting a vindaloo for breakfast now, cornflakes not cutting it! 🥵😂
Pity Darren John wasn't there enjoying the look on your face eating that vindaloo 🤣🤣🤣 Love it when you 2 are doing curry meals together. 👍👍👍
Yeah Lee that looked really nice and great value for money...good old Spoons!!
Coming from a EV owner your tram statement rather confusing 🤣
Bolton had an amazing tram network that was deemed archaic and covered over to make way for the combustion engined vehicles.
Sadly we're part of the Greater Manchester conurbation that's totally covered by the modern tram systems with the exception of our forgotten town.
Elvis juice I think I'll pass on but Doombar at £2-19 a pint , that's a sure win👍
The meal......absolutely spot on mate and what value for money.
It's a solid 10 from me.
I love Wetherspoons good value food. Curry looked absolutely delicious
🏴👏 🌶 great review mate, that looked right up my street 🏴👏🌶
Love your uk vlogs, old utube 1960,on Mansfield don't know weather you have seen it.
Now thats my kind of meal 👍 looks good
Do u think with the dial a poem thing you were supposed to put some money in ? Like a pay phone?
Great vid Lee. 1 of our wetherspoons is called Mary Shelly. Its opposite the grave of the author of Frankenstein!
Our Wetherspoons in Redhill is like an old fashioned pub strangers actually talk to each other. quality vlog lee.firey going in and firey coming out🥵sign of a good ruby murray.
Darren John would have smashed that without crying! Great vlog mate.
LOL He would if I could get him into Wetherspoons :0)
Another great video. Keep them coming.
Wow, you look like youve been sat in the middle of the Gobi desert with no hat or sunscreen!! Id give it a try it looked awesome.
Hello Lee! I like Spoons! I think it’s good value for money ! Nottingham looks like a very nice town!
Well done Lee. Wasn’t sure you were going to get there. Bring on Darren!! 😊😊

very good point, good food at a really good price, cant go wrong!
Brilliant vlog my friend

Looked lovely to me, bit of a pea souper going past Mansfield this morning mind!
Really hope DJ's watching this one.🥵 looked nice and clean and for the price .. its all we want👍
Well done Lee, looks as though you enjoyed the experience. Good luck for later. 😂😂😂

Another one in the city centre I don’t think you’ve done a video in is the Roebuck Inn. On what I used to call down-and-out alley 😂
It was called Varsity back in the day that was the first pub I went in on my first week at uni 1990 , the good old days 😅
You did well with that one Lee, Silver fox would have loved it. You can't knock the prices for ale's £2.19 for Doombar and not much more for Abbot ale.

Hopefully a park with public toilets of course
