    In the tone test, I feel like the noise floor was noticeably affected. It is hard to do a null test as no two performances are exactly the same - but I think a "close enough" approach might be found in just hitting something simple like an E chord and letting it ring out. In a null test, if the noise floor is all that is affected, then the noise would be all that is left. Just a thought.

    I had that very same interference issue with the 2.4 version they first released and the guys at the music store thought I was crazy lol. It worked with my EMGs and passive pick ups. But for some reason the NUX didn't work with my Seymour Duncan heavy metal Live wire pick ups. I did catch this fix some time after I returned them. I might try these !
    Great video, Cheers!
    I honestly think I might spend the money and just get a proper rack mount unit from Sure or something, tried and true kinda thing!

    It fits the sunken jack of my Ibanez SR2600 bass.
    A battery-life test would have been good. The battery level on mine went into the yellow after an hour at the most. Another hour and a half, it was into the red.

    You did miss the fact that the system, at least the transmitter, shuts itself off after 10 minutes of no signal from the guitar or device. This is actually an excellent feature since normally one has to remember to shut off the transmitter and bend down and shut off the receiver at the pedal board during breaks and do the same in reverse when coming back after a break. Apparently users find that you just need to wake up the transmitter to get the system back online and the receiver tends to stay active. SO this removes the need to worry about forgetting the wireless system on and using up the battery during typical 30 to 40 minute set breaks. Given this system has about a 4 hour battery life on a single charge, one must be conservative with battery usage to insure one gets through a typical 3 set night with 45 min to 1 hour sets and 30/40 minute breaks in between. Very typically a 4 to 5 hour period not including sound check and initial set up etc. I love that Nuxx put in this auto shut off though I'd like it if they made it so it can be turned off as well for max flexibility.

    I play acoustic-electric guitars. The interference noise at 13:19 would be a deal breaker for me - the 'solution' of having to plug a cable into the guitar would defeat the purpose of having a 'cable-less' system in the first place. But. If the pre-amp is on the upper bout of the guitar, that is away from the output jack where the C-5RC is plugged in, is that far enough to eliminate the (unfortunate) interference noise?

      I'm not exactly sure what problem you are talking about. I've got the Getaria 5.8 rechargeable system. In fact got 2. I use them on the p board to amp side of my electric guitar setup. I also use them with my acoustics for a outside worship service sometimes. I don't get very far away but once before we started we went out to get pictures with some visitors and I absently minded, strummed my guitar while someone was talking on mic to the congregation. My strum came over the speaker at that time. Now I was probably 150 ft away and of course it won't pick up the guitar normally that far away but when you don't want it to , it does. Other than that my only problem is after 2 yrs of use battery life is down to 4-5 hours. In reality that's not a problem. That's why I have 2. Also on the other end of my p board is a AKG wireless bug system. I've been using AKG for 15 yrs and have a assortment of different frequency AKG bug systems. Including a battery receiver 1 and a mic hook up 1. I started with the cheap Nady system yrs ago. Even though that's garbage I been wireless since. I even bought brand new 20 ft cables when I found a sale on Ebay but only used 1 to test. The others are still wrapped up new. The 5.8 wireless system has proven to me to be worth it in the lightweight kind of music stuff I'm doing at this time. Never been on a typical real stage with lights and big sound systems. So don't really know how much interference would happen. But just 2 people with guitar, keys and vocals (all wireless) everything has always worked out great.

    I play in the church before the mass, then sit and play again after 45 minutes.
    The mixer sits away from me and no one sit next to it.
    When I play again after 45 minutes, the unit that’s plugged in my guitar already went into sleep mode, which I’ll press on it to bring it back to life.
    Fir the unit that’s plugged in the mixer, do I need also someone to press on it to bring it to life, or will it detects that the guitar side is active now and connects back?

    Has anyone tried using multiple of these in a gig? most devices have a multi-channel functionality, which doesn't... so how does that work?

    • @PedalRebel880
      @PedalRebel880  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll say it depends on how strict your gig venue is. This device is designed to pair to each other automatically, a total of 10 pairs can co-exist in the same gig. You cannot select the channel or is the frequency chart published. Of course, if you have a frequency analyzer, you can scoop them out. The problem arises if you're in a gig that is strict about frequency interference. I'm sure most gig masters will decline the use of this in a serious setup.

    • @PedalRebel880

      line out from the board to the amp? Yes you can as it functions just like a guitar cable. Latency will surface if you are playing in a high interference area or if you are really far away.

    Is this unit a significant upgrade over the Nux B-5rc?

    • @PedalRebel880
      @PedalRebel880  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends! B-5RC runs on 2.4ghz while C-5RC runs on 5.8ghz. The differences between these 2 are pretty similar to why you would use a 2.4 or 5.8 wifi connection. Also, it helps to know if the location you're using this is mainly congested with a specific frequency bandwidth, then you'll just pick the other one to be on the safer side from interference or transmission loss.

    The big thing with these systems is noise. I have yet to find a cheap wireless unit that doesn’t add some hiss.

    • @PedalRebel880
      @PedalRebel880  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not experience noise being added into my chain during the tests. Check out 6:16 and you can see me swapping between cable and the wireless unit. They sound pretty much the same to me. I've also since use the system until it run out of juice and died. Still no degeneration in tone or was there noise added. It just shut off. But I'm not saying my test is as comprehensive as I would like it to be. I'm sure there will be situations where the system will pick up noise or interference! But at this price range, can you really complain :)

    Most important check is tone and this check is useless. Why check the tone with signal effects on? Tone concern is for tone purists and no tone purist will decide a tone quality with effects on. You want to hear the tone in its purist form, that is, direct from guitar to amplifier and nothing in between.

    • @philbeau
      @philbeau ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way to test freq response and distortion is to use REW software on a PC and do a loopback test. But there isn't a lot of tone above 3K or so on a guitar anyway unless you're doing a lot of work with artificial harmonics in your playing.
