Sequoia Seedlings in South Peyrone Grove

  • Take a walk among millions of giant sequoia seedlings! These natural seedlings sprouted after the 2021 Windy Fire in little-known South Peyrone Grove, tucked far down a steep slope in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. The giant sequoias grow in fire-adapted forests that require fire to survive and thrive. They reproduce in huge numbers after a blaze. Despite knowing this, agencies such as the Forest Service and the National Park Service have been logging, burning, and installing artificial tree plantations in our sequoia forests using the utterly false pretense of "restoration." The sequoia groves are currently being bulldozed, logged, and unnaturally burned. Agencies are acting as though this isn't OUR public land. They have destroyed most of the sequoias' natural post-fire regeneration, with the exception of far flung places like the one featured in this video. Please ask the Forest Service and the NPS to stop marauding our forests, take back what's yours, and don't support propaganda or taxpayer money grabs (such as the blatantly deceptive save our sequoias act).
