Indonesia is a unified nation of 17.491 islands from the Sabang until Merauke and hasa wide variety of islands, customs, arts, cultures, dances, tribal songs, religions and languages. The first dance and the first song is the dance from Borneo (Kalimantan). Here are the details: 1. The local song and dress areas are used in the common Paris Barantai (Kalimantan). 2. Si Patokaan regional song (North Sulawesi) 3. Sajojo county song (Papua). 4. Soleram (Riau). 5. Kampuang nan Jauh Di Mato (West Sumatra) and a plate dance. 6. Traditional instrument instrument named "Sape" (Kalimantan). 7. Janger (Bali) dance. 8. The song of the "Manuk Dadali" region (West Java). 9. The song of the " Anak Kambing Saya" (Nusa Tenggara Timur / NTT). 10. Tak Lelo Lelo Lelo Ledhung (Central Java). 11. The declaration of Independence of Indonesia was brought to you by the original voice of Indonesia's first President. "Ir. Soekarno". 12. A song "Bagimu Negeri" National song of Indonesia. In the video there's a dragon, it's an anthaboga. Antaboga is a mythological creature that is legendary in almost every corner of the world. His presence is still a great puzzle in life on earth. Each country in the world has a belief in dragons, in its own version. Indonesia, for a certainty, also had a dragon figure that became mythology. The dragon was named the Hyang Antaboga (Java call it Ontobugo). For the peoples of Java and Bali, the story of Antaboga has been handed down from generation to generation with the same story, drawn from the story of the puppet. The same beliefs and tales about antaboga in Java and Bali are due to the common belief of people in the era of Hindu-Buddhist teachings developing in nusantara. For Javans, Antaboga was the earth's buffer god. Antaboga is a manifestation of the dragon in the mythology of the Javanese pirates. Sang Hyang Antaboga was one of the characters in the form of a dragon and had a number of powers, one of which was to bring a dead body back to life. In the story of the passage, the Antaboga is depicted as living in a place called "Saptapralata" or seven layers of earth underground. He also had a wife named Goddess Supreti, who looked like a dragon. From there he had offspring and children. Javanese belief in dragons, is really not only portrayed in an anthaboga figure. Before it appeared, in the relief from the majapahit also appeared a representation of the dragon. Nagaraja Anuhut Surya relief was found in the Sawentar temple, in Blitar (East Java), dated 1396 c.e. I think people from other countries may not understand, why we Indonesians seem very fanatic or have high patriotism. So, for your information, we were under Dutch imperialism for 350 years, followed with Japan for 3.5 years (which annihilated a huge chunk of the population during that time). So for more than 3 centuries, we were not the lords of our land. Our ancestors were forced to do slave labor, to grow certain plants that were profitable for Dutch East Indies, must paid taxes to the Dutch, being oppressed all the time. We did have local heroes that tried to chase away all these invaders, but it wasn't until 1928, when our Indonesian youths declared that we had one motherland, one nation and one national language. And seeing from how we have hundreds of tribes, hundreds ethno-linguistics scattered in 17,000 islands, it was a tough call to unite all these people. Even some political experts often said that Indonesia is one of the most difficult countries to govern, because how diverse it is. In 1942, the Dutch was out of Indonesia, chased out by Japan (during Japan's invasion to China/Korea/etc). It was right in the middle of World War 2 with Hitler's invasion in Europe. However on August 9th 1945, Americans bombed the Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Safe to say, there was a power vacuum in Indonesia. Dutch was busy with Hitler in Europe, while Japan was busy defending their country from American's atomic bombs. And 8 days later, on August 17th 1945, our founding fathers (Soekarno and Hatta) declared our independence. But that was not the end, because Dutch still insisted to occupy our lands or at least some of the profitable islands. After so many rounding tables agreements, finally, we were declared as a nation to govern all our Nusantara islands. Our independence brought forward a new breeze to countries in South Asia and South East Asia regions. Not long after, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, etc declared their independence. And yet, it was not the end, because we still had some separatist movements until 1960, some of it wanted to make our country Islamic country. In case you didn't know, the country with highest muslim population, it's not a country in middle east, it is Indonesia. Yet, here we are, Indonesia, a republic government, that favors not one tribe, not one religion, not a certain tribal language. And we had our share of dictator president too, Soeharto (1965-1998), even experts predicted, we would broken up like Yugoslavia after the crisis in 1998. Yet again, here we are, 24 years later, defying the odds and still surviving as a nation. So, it's understandable for Alffy to dig deep to our cultures for our 76th Independence Day celebration. It's like a shout out to Indonesian people, to remember our roots and how far we have come as a nation. And yes, it's also understandable that people are crying when we sing that last National song "Bagimu Negri/For You My Country", because after independence, Indonesian youths can go to school, when previously it was only the noble births who could go to school. We are now the lords of our lands, not a subclass human beings servient to the Dutch, we could grow whatever the heck we want on our land. There is a korean youtuber, who did go to school in Indonesia, and he said it eloquently, for us Indonesians, Independence Day is not only a matter of celebration of freedom from colonization but also a unification party for hundreds of Indonesian local tribes. Visit us during the month of August, you would see how crazy we are celebrating our Independence Day, so many crazy fun type of games, until your cheek hurt because you laugh too much. The locals will not mind if tourists want to join in the fun, they will welcome you with an open arms, just ask. Ps: If you want to know how rich the Dutch East India was, check this article. www.visualcapitalist.com/most-valuable-companies-all-time/ And yet the Dutch has the audacity to ask for the war debt in 1949 in order to give freedom to Indonesia, to the tune of 4.3 billion guilder (130billion USD). While researches estimated, in 2012, the profit that the Dutch got from Indonesia from year 1878-1941 was about 54 billion guilder (398~5123billion USD, depending on the conversion). content.csbs.utah.edu/~mli/Economies%205430-6430/Gordon-How%20Big%20Was%20Indonesia's%20Real%20Colonial%20Surplus.pdf
