OMG I have been struggling for weeks trying to get those wing tips right, They fall apart and shred in my hand, let alone find one that matches the gap. I wasted so many feathers and serious hours just in tips for the Adams. all in In fun i must add , I mean how blessed are we to even be able to tie. In any case you have solved many sleepless nights ! Thank you so much fro sharing your knowledge . I am reading the the same Catskills bible! I may be new to fly tying but fell in in love with the classic patterns and BTW , was at the Catskills Tyers guild meet up with my 1 year old and you were such a great guy! Thanks for talking with my about wood duck techniques. I look forward to learning and tying a much as I can . I hope word spreads how genuinely great you were . -- Nico from healing waters ,
Thank you for the kind words! Yeah the wings just fall apart in your hands if you’re not quick enough. Higher you go on the feather the stronger the wing. Start high 👍 and thanks again for the comment as well as coming to the guild events. Appreciate it!
Nice to see those iconic pink packs. I used to have a decent stock of Allcocks, but sold most of my dry and nymph hooks a few years ago. I still have some of the 2811 and 1810 streamer hooks to use sparingly for some display flies. Thanks for the great tutorials. Cheers
😂 yeah that’s one of the tougher ones haha. I’ve never tied it before but have definitely thought about it. Hard is one issue to contend with but the right material is another. Lot of crow in that one and you need to use a good size hook. Really tough but incredible fly for sure.
Excellent video. I watched it when I came out, but I looked up the pattern this morning having coffee. A ton of great tips in it.

They’re not much use, especially when there’s fishing material to buy 👍. Appreciate it!
Hi nick. Did you say that you rote a book on fly tying? :-)
Nah, but maybe one day 👍
Very beautiful indeed. :-)
👍👍
You should tie the Popham salmon fly.
