If my goal was to learn how to paint in the first place and enjoy the process - sure, I would learn how to paint, if my goal is just to make a painting - hell no, I'm not wasting precious hours of my life on a skill I'm barely going to use, personally.

In the latest update of Photoshop the warning message does not pop up, but the Gen Fill seems to work fine.
