I was stationed in 'Lefkada (Levkada) by the Sea' in 1972-1973 but it was an Air Force site at the time. Worked in the communication section, the other was the power generation section. There was also one microwave dish at the site which I did not see in the video. Spent just over a year there and it was considered isolated remote but we had access to a sail boat and a speed boat for water skiing! Another memorable event was when Caroline and John John Kennedy visited the site and watched a movie with us. They were staying with Jacqueline and Aristotle Onassis on his island at the time. Great video and brought back some good memories... Thank You for posting it!

I served on this transmitter site in 1967. This was site 14 Bravo, 2140th Communications Group, United States Air Force. I spent a year on "The Hill." just after its creation in 1965. At the end of the Cold War, it was decommissioned.
I was based there in 1976-77. I saw Henry Fonda & his film crew, also had my Lefkada postcard autographed by him one afternoon in town below. Great memories.

Great video. I was there from 80-81, it was my first tour. There were about 40 of us there if memory serves correctly. I was Power Pro and worked on the generator side of the business. Was a tropo comm site. We received our signal from Italy and sent it over to Turkey. We worked 3 days on and 3 days off. Myself and another airman worked nights from 8pm to 8am monitoring and maintaining 4 prime power generators (only one or two ran at a time) Night shift was the one to work, nobody around except two radio guys in the other building😂 It was a one year tour for everyone but it was not uncommon for people to request an “extension”……..never happened😂. While I was there MWR sent us a new replacement motor for the site ski boat ( was ordered some years before I got there) We used to take it down and ski near Aristotle Onassis’s island Scorpios. Never seen water so clear so deep! Was truly awesome to behold! One of my NCO’s told me two things I’ll never forget. 1: This ain’t the real Air Force! 2.
