Me girls did the same thing when they were the little fella's age. They toss things because they are weary. I made them sit down among the guinaes and explained to them the guinaes are "fragile" and that we look like giants and we need to make ourselves look smaller. Then only are they allowed to feed them. Takes a few tries but it calms them down tremendously. Works for everything from guinaes to lion cubs. Note of caution: unless you rescue cubs or have experience in animal wellfare stay away from wild animals. We don't want idiots thinking they can raise lions now do we? 😆 Prosperous new year to you folks!!! To the american savages, you are more than welcome to send me some of that snow you have been accumulating over there. Stingy bastards!!
Do they not like being pet or held that much? Doesn't seem like that happens much, I mean endless food is probably enough to the piggies lol. I'd wanna sit in the middle of that cuteness and pet them as they scurried by lol.

They are ideal for all ages! This post will be rather long, but it should give you a laugh! When my kids were little (5 and 3 or so), my family went to a pet store one evening to get some things for our pet fish. I had told my kids about the guinea pigs I'd had over the years, and my daughter wanted to see one. While the guys went to look at fish stuff, my daughter and I went to the rodents. They had a tricolor guinea pig, and my daughter wanted to hold him. While she sat on the floor cuddling him, the clerk told me that the guinea pig wasn't pet quality because his ears had been chewed. They were going to sell him for snake food. My daughter didn't say anything, so I thought she hadn't heard him. When we got in the car, my daughter asked her dad (who had done the buying), "Where's the guinea pig?" He was confused and told her that we hadn't gotten one. She grabbed a sponge on a stick that's used to clean fish tanks from the bag and used it as a weapon! She told her dad, "I (smack) want (smack) that (smack) guinea (smack) pig!" How would YOU like to be eaten by a snake? It wasn't his fault his ears were chewed! Some bad guinea pig did that! smack smack smack smack Dad tossed his wallet to me and said, "I don't know what she's talking about, but go get that guinea pig before this kid kills me!" When I got back to the car with the guinea pig, my son (who had no idea what we were taking home) asked if he could see it. He immediately tucked the guinea pig inside his coat and said, "I keep him warm." The guinea pig was named Ray, and the rest of his life was filled with cuddles and treats. No snakes allowed.

My own father was orphaned at age five and grew up in the streets of Seattle. Emotional scars were definitely there. But I think it made him try harder to provide for his family what he didn’t have growing up. “There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.”
