    Great video, after a year of use do you still enjoy them? Also, I've read that the FRFR technology shines when the volume is turned up to volume 6 or 7. Do you also find that to be true? If I practice at my apartment I would need to play at a slightly lower volume, so what is your experience at lower volume levels, is the sound quality still there or am I still better off with my small tube amp for practice tone? Lastly, if I bought these it would be similar to your setup (2 NPA 50's). Cheers!

    • @DirectRecordingGuitar

      Yes! After a year of use, my Yamaha HS5 are practically unused as I prefer the PA50 for everything. It behaves like a PA system. At high volumes, all frequencies will jump and appear more clearly. Then we can use the PA50's EQ to make the tones the way we like them. At high volumes during live shows with a band, I put the Treble and Bass at around 9 to 10 o'clock, the Middle at flat (12 o'clock). At low volumes, I usually leave the 3 EQ knobs at 12 o'clock.

      Fala meu amigo! :)

I understand that monitor’s input 2 will give better results in this case. But should I use a normal jack to jack guitar cable, or XLR to jack would be better? Or it doesn’t really matter? Thanks!

    • @sandlmv8301
      @sandlmv8301 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't matter. XLR is only good for balanced connections which basically means it won't degrade the sound over long cables. Anything under 10 metres doesn't matter. And considering the connection you are asking about isn't balanced, it doesn't matter at all. Read up about balanced/ non balanced cables/connections. Cheers.

      @DirectRecordingGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dodi. I have the Hs5 too. All the presets I made using headphones and HS5 were fine on the PA50 with the EQ at 12 hours (flat). I used input 2 which is frfr. Only when the volume starts to get really loud, when all the frequencies also go up, I'm talking about rehearsal volumes or live shows, so the bass and treble come out more and we can make adjustments to the monitor EQ, lowering the bass and treble if necessary to balance the sound. This also happens on HS5. In my multi-effects, I have versions of the same presets with different EQs for playing live at high volumes or practice/studies at low volumes.

    É, meu amigo, à essa altura, com a coluna já apitando, aos poucos tenho deixado o set analógico em casa (Fender Deluxe Reverb, pedais e um pequeno PA, pros violões), focando no digital... e o Overloud foi uma gratíssima surpresa... se rodar bem nesse Nux, vou encarar!

It's already loud enough for me even on large stages. The sound technician distributes the guitar signal to the other stage monitors for the other musicians. Thanks for your comment! 👊🏼🔥🎸

      @@mttqie Hello my friend! Noise can be caused by many factors. One of them is low levels in the electrical network. It's also important to find a "middle ground" between the volume of your multiFX and the monitors. I use the MG30's Master knob at a maximum of 40%, and the PA50's Volume 2 knob between 40 and 50% during live shows. This is loud enough for me when playing with a full band on large stages. My guitar is also in the other stage audio monitors so that the other musicians can hear me. But maybe you are talking about the natural noise that every amplifier makes...

      I haven't used real amps for many years. I use simulators and audio monitors (like stage monitors) and now I only use the PA50. All my sounds have been aimed at this type of use for years. If you intend to use a real amp, my method of using the MG30 will not work for you. I can advise that you find the proper output type on the MG30 (other than Studio/Direct) so that it sounds best on your amp, adjust the EQ knobs on your amp the best and never use Impulse Response on your MG30. Since you are using a real amp, with real cabinet and speakers, you won't need an amp simulation overlay.

      Yes! In small places, you place it behind you, on the floor, and the people in front will hear you perfectly. It's already happened to me that someone asked me to lower the volume a little. :) The PA50 are personal monitors, with 50w RMS, so I even take them to shows in large structures, in this case I position them in front of me, facing me because they are personal monitors. The sound of the guitar is distributed across the stage on the sound team's other monitors. :) I never had a decibel meter to measure and show you, but we even felt some sound pressure at high volumes. I have to reduce the bass and treble to 9 o'clock because these frequencies stand out a lot at high volumes and I also offer some protection to the speaker. :)

    Então meu pensamento é que usando simulação de ampli, IR de caixa microfonada e monitorando numa caixa frfr, basicamente eu vou ouvir o mesmo som lá na sala de ensaio e na técnica a hora que eu der play na gravação... faz sentido?
    Aí se além de ser um monitor frfr essa caixa ainda tiver um output com a cópia do sinal direto da pedaleira, parece que ia resolver tudo com uma tacada só...
    Ps: Como antes eu usava o ampli, só usava um tubescreamer pra empurrar e um booster pros solos... porém nesse novo esquema, pra fazer as simulações de ampli to pensando em pegar um Ampero Hotone II.

      Hi, because the overall volume of your multi-effects or pedal set can be very high. In the case of the MG-30, for example, I keep the master volume knob around 30 to 40% during rehearsals and live shows. When you increase the volume, all the frequencies go up together, so I usually set the bass and treble knobs on the PA50 around 9 or 10 o'clock, keeping the mids at 12 o'clock. • @DirectRecordingGuitar
      @DirectRecordingGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yes, it will sound good at low volumes by exploring the EQ knobs. I use it that way quite often. However, it will really come into its own when played at high volumes, as is typical with 50W RMS monitors. The rear output is an extension of the L or R output of the multiFX being used. Let me give you an example: You would connect the L output of your multiFX to the Frfr Input 2 of the PA50, and that signal will pass through to the rear output without any alterations, allowing it to be sent to a mixer/PA system. It's an extension of the L output, you see? It cannot be used as a headphone output.

      @@DirectRecordingGuitar Thank you for your reply! I’m actually choosing between NUX PA-50 and Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor. The Roland model is significantly smaller in size and much less powerful (so much so it might not be suitable for guitar playing at all). Well, there is also HeadRush FRFR-108, but it will probably be too loud for home use. So which one would you suggest, primarily for bedroom practicing? Or maybe you know some other frfr speaker model for home? I don’t really want to go the studio monitors route, since I still want to have an option to take my speaker somewhere..

    • @DirectRecordingGuitar
      @DirectRecordingGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never tested the Roland, but from what I saw on the website, it's not Frfr (full-range, flat response). I have tested the Headrush, and it only sounds good at high volumes, like during rehearsals and live shows. At low volumes, the sound became "muffled," as if there was a thick blanket over the speaker. I'm using a translator for English, can you understand me? With the PA50, I can comfortably use it at low volumes without it sounding muffled, just by adjusting the frequencies that are lacking on the EQ knobs. But what would be considered "low volume" to you? Is it the natural volume of an acoustic guitar or even lower? When I need to be really quiet during practice, I use headphones directly with the multiFX.
