I'm still waiting for one important scene from the light novel that would make Shin so much easier to understand, but that happens a little later in the story if I remember correctly
The music from the OST was actually from both Sawano and Yamamoto. The entire OST is amazing and even includes the Sawano songs The Answer, Voices of the Chord, Two Worlds Apart and Slumdog Paradise (the song you heard at the beginning of the "slice of life" episode 13). Well worth the purchase.
I’m genuinely worried about Shin, every episode makes clearer that he is losing it and only sees value in himself while fighting, even going all out in suicidal attacks. That smile he made kept giving me chills, hopefully Frederica or anyone can change it
Ever since he completed his mission in Ep 9, he's losing it... Going off on his own, Suicidal Charges.... He sees himself a Deadman walking... Past his Expiration date... Didn't expected to live that long....
The Lena stuff in this episode was from the epilouge of vol. 2. In the novel it felt a lot more ominous. When I read it I straight up got shivers: "When the alarm rang in the military’s headquarters, not a soul present knew what it meant. It was understandable, in a way, as it had been configured ten years ago (...) with the resolve and hope that it would never have to be heard. (...) The holographic screen, set over most of the wall, projected distorted footage corrupted by the darkness of the night and electronic jamming. (...) The footage showed the ruins of a structure built in the shape of a wall, shattered from top to bottom (...) And crossing over that ravine like a metal-colored stream was a massive army of multilegged machines built to maximize their potential for slaughter. (...) The collapsed structure, constructed with only absolute, impenetrable defense in mind…was the Gran Mur. This siren…was to alert the fall of the final defensive line."
The men watching it thought it was a movie, they didn't even know what the legion looked like despite large amounts of combat footage they supposedly had viewed in training

The sheer amount of weight Shin has been carrying is massive. It makes sense that he's a bit caught up with the heat of battle. He's torn in two, he doesn't want to die, but it looks like his heart and soul is reluctantly in- and always in battle. Always fighting and it's come to the point where he seems to just embrace that fact. I hope Raiden or Lena pulls him back to his senses. I'm scared for him too.

For me at least it's better if this anime stays underrated I don't want it's fandom to become toxic like Aot because the more popular the show, the bigger the fandom is the more toxic it gets, I just want it to be popular enough in Japan so that we keep getting new seasons
9:44 Discounting Frederica and Shin because it’s obvious that they have to survive till the end for all the conflicts to be resolved, this shot right here I feel like can foreshadow the death of the side characters in linear order. The phrase “Follow the light” is usually used when someone is close to death and going into the afterlife, which is where the light is. So the first one that is closest to the light is Raiden, follow by Theoto, then Kurena, and lastly, Anju. You can even say that with Frederica in the middle, she is going to be seeing their deaths with her ability each time they crossed the line. As for Shin not being in the shot at all, but standing in the light itself by the window, you can say it represents him as the Reaper, waiting for his friends to cross the line.
Except I don't think Frederica can actually see anyone's death beforehand because again, she can only see the past and present, not anyone's future. Other than that, damn, very cool and thought provoking analysis.
Shin's Testament: *In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark republic who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the 86th District, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him... The Legion Slayer*
It's been a long time since I've seen an anime studio flex for an episode the way A-1 Pictures did today. That was a mind-blowing episode. So well adapted - gave life way beyond what was written in the book.
I'm still very impressed by how well they adapted the light novel because the 2nd volume was really bad imo. It felt like one big information dump and almost got me to quit reading it.
Look at all the positives from this year: 86 and Assassin are neck and neck for most popular show this season, A1 got its mojo back, Rui Tsyuikuo is creator of the year, Kingdom Season 3 was a massive hit, Vineland Saga Season 2 announced and Re Zero on indefinite hiatus. What a good time to be an anime fan.
Shin’s smile was definitely creepy and liked how Lena was taking control as a leader. Don’t see many of the Alba surviving. We got to see Frederica use her power with animation done. That cliffhanger ending was hectic
How to make 86 fans feel conflicted There's an alternate universe where the legions didn't exist and Shinei married Annette. And Vika is living a normal life with his mother.
Chibi, you REALLY need to read the LNs. Asato Asato apparently loves to play her audience; knowing so much about the military she's a pro at "false flags" and misdirection.
I finally decided to watch the latest episodes and man this anime is amazing. Even though they are not really similar but I get the same amount of hype like when watching the first seasons of attack on titan. This show deserves way more popularity than it has at this moment
@@rickchakraborty2087 Might be, i also was hesitant at first to start this series. I thought it might be a series for novel readers but after seeing the great response of anime-onlys in forums i gave in. The series might seem a little overwhelming at first

It's not a kids show, it's a seinen, it's a mature show dealing with mature themes, so I'm not surprised not many watch it or not many understand the greatness of this show. Had this been marketed as shonen, I'm sure it would have been more mainstream.
@@rickchakraborty2087 even if marketed as shounen, they would have dropped it after 3 episodes, most shonen people just want flashy lights and dumb fist fights between dudes after a day of whatever, not saying it's a bad thing, i watch isekai trash all the time, but i love me some good seinen when it really catches my fancy, 86 being the case, i got 2 younger brothers, one is a 24 yo lawyer and the other is close to becoming an accountant, both are shonen junkies, i used to try to get them to like some of the stuff I watch to no avail, turning one's brain kind of shows will always sell like hot pancakes, no matter the age. idk how, usually i would never get an overwhelming feeling while watching a show of any kind, not only anime, but 86 is the first anime to make me feel both incredibly happy but sad at the same time, although I've already caught up to the light novel, seeing it in anime form gives me goosebumps, when Lena took control over the 86's tears for some reason started to form, although there may be many parts with loopholes which I'm not sure of because I'm not educated in the field of war, the emotions I get when watching it is really hard to describe
this anime was my favorite last season, I was not sure what would be the plot going forward since how it ended made it up to look like main cast was wiped, but oh boy was I surprised, season 2 has been equally if not better than season 1, ill wait till it ends but it has also taken Nr. 1 spot for the anime episode I am waiting each week, this season probably only 86 and mushoku tensei are the ones I don't miss each week.
I heard this episode confirmed a theory known within the LN readers. But yeah totally missed tge "bombshell" in the intro scene if I haven't read a comment about it.
Idk about others but this anime is giving me the same vibes as AOT..every new season packs some punch and emotions that's gonna make you cherish how good the anime is.

Isn't code geaas categorized as a mecha type anime too? Cuz then I would say code geaas is best mecca anime of all time then 86 being 2nd. Code geass just goated, 86 can be goated too if it keeps the fire comin 🔥🔥💪🏾
86 is an excellent mecha anime for sure, especially since we've been starved of those for a while now (unless you consider AoT flesh mechas). The best recent one is Promare, and then there are decent shows like Aldnoah Zero, SSSS series, Guilty Crown, Darling in the Franxx (before it turned into a dumpster fire). But if you go further back there's Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Evangelion, MSG 00 and even better prequels than IBO like Zeta Gundam... so it'll be a while yet before I consider 86 to be the best one.

And i want it aslo to adapt all the LN ,
Thats my opinion,
C-Y-A next week 👋,
-take care,
- and AMAZING REVIEW,
KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK
For me at least it's better if this anime stays underrated I don't want it's fandom to become toxic like Aot because the more popular the show, the bigger the fandom is the more toxic it gets, I just want it to be popular enough in Japan so that we keep getting new seasons
@@sayaliparandekar3714 somewhat like Bungou Stray Dogs? Not very popular internationally but in Japan....
@@sayaliparandekar3714 pretty sure 86 is quite popular in Japan, so we don't really need to worry about not getting more seasons.
Creepy....
Is it just me, or are these mecha battles cooler and more gritty than most human shaped mecha fights?
You talking about titans or sum?
Talking about stuff like Gundam and the like.
Shin's Testament:
*In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood.
Nice!
Chibi: This is the best episode of the series.
Me: Every episode is the best episode.
LOL
It's been a long time since I've seen an anime studio flex for an episode the way A-1 Pictures did today. That was a mind-blowing episode. So well adapted - gave life way beyond what was written in the book.
A-1 flexed harder than the Gran Mur falling
that cliffhanger...
The last part scares me though
A1 has its mojo for a while now, Kaguya-sama was a blast, S2 in particular.
Barely anyone talked about Kingdom season 3 though. But I agree with your last line
How is Re:Zero on indefinite hiatus a good thing? Unless you want to say it gives Yen Press some time to catch up to the Japanese releases lol
I love going into animes blind with no expectations just to get blown away. This show is just phenomenal!
Two things Shin does in this episode
- point a gun at the commander and warn all the army
- become insane and annihilated the Legion
That shin scene gave me gosebumps
Shin’s smile was definitely creepy and liked how Lena was taking control as a leader. Don’t see many of the Alba surviving. We got to see Frederica use her power with animation done. That cliffhanger ending was hectic
This is the directors first fully directed anime! He's doing a really good job!
How to make 86 fans feel conflicted
There's an alternate universe where the legions didn't exist and Shinei married Annette.
And Vika is living a normal life with his mother.
They don't even know who Vika is and I think he won't be in this season
Why is there an alternate universe
How is there an alternate universe
Who the fuck is vika
Wait, fr? Is it a manga?
@@lightdarkequivalent7143 yes
@@elrashomacuin715 No it’s just a joke about if the legion never existed
Chibi, you REALLY need to read the LNs. Asato Asato apparently loves to play her audience; knowing so much about the military she's a pro at "false flags" and misdirection.
I finally decided to watch the latest episodes and man this anime is amazing. Even though they are not really similar but I get the same amount of hype like when watching the first seasons of attack on titan. This show deserves way more popularity than it has at this moment
I feel like since it is a seinen it's not becoming mainstream and so it has low popularity.
@@rickchakraborty2087 Might be, i also was hesitant at first to start this series. I thought it might be a series for novel readers but after seeing the great response of anime-onlys in forums i gave in. The series might seem a little overwhelming at first
86 is just amazing!
Shin's crazy face made me think he was trying to die.
i think the reason this show is slept on is because it isn't for everyone, the theme politics, and dialogue in this anime might not suit everyone even though it's top tier
You can't turn off your brain for this show, that's for sure, some older folks may even like this.
Hopefully we get enough people to pump A-1 into animating the full story, Asato needs the hype too, luckily she doesn't lose the love she has for the story in the near future, like other author do, as soon as i'm able, i'll be throwing money at the LNs, a Lena figure I saw just today that isn't on Amazon yet and hopefully some Blu-ray crap or something.
@@xxvaltielxx1789 Facts. Which is why the only shonen animes that I love really, is Attack on titan, Gintama and one piece. Cause them series's actually have deep/complex themes, good character writing, world building etc, although these shows being different from one another
@@rickchakraborty2087 it’s not a seinen, it’s a light novel adaptation, only seinen manga adaptations are seinen anime
I honestly fell off my chair during the battle scene, just because of the Hiroyuki Sawano Ost...
I wasnt sure about this series from season 1 but this season slaps so hard i Couldnt wait weekly anymore and now im nearly caught up in the LN gotta say the character development and world building is Fucking incredible the political tension has been a slow burn but I get the feeling its really gonna pop off before the end
Chibi thank you for recommending this anime. I am not a fan of mechas but this series is truly amazing. The music is scintillating the flow of the animation is fluid and satisfying and it has some really cool characters. One of my new favorites.
Yeah it was definitely a great episode. I’ve been waiting for all of this to happen.
I gotta agree here, I got alot love for Gundam IBO but 86's story is on a different tier.
if I wasn't a rumiko takahashi simp I would say 86 is the best anime of the year. 86 is insanely good.
I put this on the same level as Iron-Blooded cuz it's insanely emotional but also action packed
Shit got real intense godamnit i was not ready for all that action and then Shin went cray cray and then Frederica cried and then fighting fighting and then Lena being best girl/woman of the century and then postcredit scene got me fucked up like I CAN'T handle it anymore like ffs i'm going insane with this anime !!!!!
Guess you should turn into a legion now.
This show is amazing
I was leaning forward until the jump scare at the very end lol
that jump scare was great, i never expected that, what a great series!
I like how the group got their own specialized machines that plays into their fighting styles
For me is a 10/10 episode, but the best episode is still Fido's death.
Best anime of the year for me
This is not the last time you'll say 'best episode'.
86 greatness 💯🤟🔥🔥🔥
if we follow the LN, Lena will not be appearing anytime soon, sorry boys and gals ... it will be that 'operation' will take the star of the show and get ready to be blown away, the fight sequence will be more intense from here on.
This episode made me cry at the end.... xD
Ok, I just wanna thank you for reminding me of the post credits scene cause I skipped it
the mecha genre is criminally underrated
Well no…. The genre in general is horrendously bad but there are a few like 86 that are actually good
Bruh that after credits scene was just a jumpscare holy shit
idk how, usually i would never get an overwhelming feeling while watching a show of any kind, not only anime, but 86 is the first anime to make me feel both incredibly happy but sad at the same time, although I've already caught up to the light novel, seeing it in anime form gives me goosebumps, when Lena took control over the 86's tears for some reason started to form, although there may be many parts with loopholes which I'm not sure of because I'm not educated in the field of war, the emotions I get when watching it is really hard to describe
this anime was my favorite last season, I was not sure what would be the plot going forward since how it ended made it up to look like main cast was wiped, but oh boy was I surprised, season 2 has been equally if not better than season 1, ill wait till it ends but it has also taken Nr. 1 spot for the anime episode I am waiting each week, this season probably only 86 and mushoku tensei are the ones I don't miss each week.
Freakin awesome seeing the Spearheads having dedicated mechs that make it so they can work together and fight more effectively.
Episode 9 is still my favorite episode so far, but this episode was amazing!
lol that ending after the credits .. literally made me just it was a jump scare
This week episode was hype as heck!!!😳
THIS EPISODE EPIC AF
I jumped so hard at the end ha hahaha, great analysis btw
there was a small hint at what snapped him out of that Suicidal rampage when it focused on his old para-raid scar
Dude same, this episode was seriously intense.
When a Reaper loses its purpose, all Hell breaks loose.
Every episode of 86 is glorious 🙂
I heard this episode confirmed a theory known within the LN readers.
But yeah totally missed tge "bombshell"
in the intro scene if I haven't read a comment about it.
The second vol ended(Or at least I think it did) with this episode going in blind now can't wait
Idk about others but this anime is giving me the same vibes as AOT..every new season packs some punch and emotions that's gonna make you cherish how good the anime is.
Shit now I have to wait an entire week.
For me it wasn't as good as Lena running in season one, but damn, definitely one of the best episodes in the series
Nobody : *nothing*
Chibi : This is the best episode
This episode was amazing but psycho Shin be sus tho 😂
WHO DA FUCK GIVE IT A DISLIKE?!
I AM GOING TO THROW YOUTO TEH FRICKIGN LEGION, YOU HEAR ME?!!??!?!?!?!
cant wait for next episode, even if it's from lena's side, this would be epic.
For me it's Gurrenn Lagann and Iron Blooded Orphans
Code Geass… you mean the definition of overrated mediocrity that is full of plot holes, bland characters and is carried entirely by it ending?
@@Oboreru493 lmfao code geass one of the best anime of all time fytb😤
Happy Halloween, Chibi!
Once Lena and Shin meet again i think with time she will make him mellow out a little.
