I had the privilege of being a part of a documentary that included Col Shames. A few months later I bought his book for a gift to my brother in law. Col Shames had given me his business card during the shoot so I called him up to ask him to sign it. He invited my to meet him and his wife for dinner at the restaurant on Virginia Beach Blvd where they had dinner every week. The staff knew not to sit anyone at their table on their date night. The corner booth was always theirs. I consider myself extremely lucky to have gotten to know him and be in the presence of living history. Sad that this great generation is nearly gone now, but thankful we have so much history given to us first hand by some that lived it.

For me, the music is a good reflection of the times.

I am a volunteer and tour guide at Currahee Military Museum and Camp Toccoa. I was able to meet Mr. Ed today during our military weekend. At 93 yrs old, he was still sharp as a tack. This man fought in every major campaign with 506th Easy Co. "Band of Brothers".

My uncle Kenneth T. Baldwin was one of the originals, along with Mr. Ed. Uncle Ken never let us kids hear him talk about the war, only when him and my dad had a few in them did they even discuss it. My dad was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Ky. as one of the 101st Screaming Eagles. But it was Uncle Ken who dodged bullets, tried to stay alive as either the enemy would kill him or the conditions. He has been gone now for approx. 30 years, drowned deep sea fishing when the boat hit a huge rock off Baja, California. The first mate and cook survived by holding onto the life boats and not untying them...I couldn't live with that on me. Ironic to survive the hells of war only to die due to someone not having the sense. God bless you, Kenneth T. Baldwin, you were a hero for America....

Truly we as people do not appreciate enough in what these young boys and men went through! They lived together and died in some of each others arms! They are the ultimate generation of boys sent to do some of the unspeakable acts of killing without thought at those who were called the enemy! To all those dragged into war, rest easy those who are forever young! You’ve done your duty now report to St.Peter another soldier having done their duty.

Col. Shames had amazing memory, recalling so many important details of his career and of the unit's. What a great man, they don't make very many like him.

I had the honor to know Ed Shames and he is the toughest and most honorable man I've ever met. Straight the point and no BS. He was excluded from the Band of Brothers because he had the balls to stand up to Steven Ambrose about multiple errors in his book. Ed's honor was more important than fame. 💪🇺🇲🇺🇲✡️✡️

It was too bad that he was pretty much excluded from the Band of Brothers mini series except for one scene where he is yelling at his subordinates.

As far as storytelling goes, he is one of the best. This is a great documentary of his experience. I do agree that the music is a bit distracting. I would cut the volume in half or out altogether.

I had the honor of meeting him and his wife 20 years ago when I lived in Richmond VA. He was incredibly sharp and friendly. We talked for an hour while he waited on his car to be worked on. It's one of my favorite memories and conversations I've ever had.

The reason. Young people don't appreciate what our veterans went through some of which paid with their lives is because their parents failed to instill respect and admiration for others

I will always be in awe of what these folks did. But stop it with all this bravado stuff about your training being so hard. I spent 20 yeas in the Army and yes it was tough but it isn't walking through hell. What they did in Europe was walking through hell. Focus on that.
