Have you seen the progress made in stem cell research? Enabling people to walk again by repairing the spinal cord. Still a few years off from commercial availability, but it looks quite promising.

I thought the most interesting part was at 16:45 where he says, "However, even in severe cases there are still weak electrical signals that do make it through."
I can't help but wonder if a even a simple biofeedback device could help strengthen those weak, remaining signals. Perhaps 4 sensors, one each for upper/lower and left/right leg muscles to start.

Turn signals? what are those? had my BMW 5 years now. Turn signal sounds familiar, like something I studied for my driving test back in the 90. But nothing I need in the real world.

@Ape man Commeth Yep, I am aware of the bots developed by Boston Dynamics, the doggy kind, the parkour kind, the backflip kind etc., But somewhere I do feel the Japanese are way more ahead in this Technology area, their replica is too close to human movements and appear Production ready. May be that's a reason why my curiosity rises when the tech of Japan is brought into light.

The Japanese language is an ever evolving one, and it has changed much in the last hundred years. These days, modern Japanese in both written and spoken are much the same, but a hundred years ago they were different. The only way to describe it is by comparing Spanish to Portuguese, and then both of those to Tagalog (Philippine language which has a lot of Portuguese in it).
Japanese is a very complex language, and one of their forms of humour in written and spoken form is a sort of double entendre. Depending on how certain words are written or in what context they are spoken, they can have different meanings, kind of like homophones in english.
In this instance, depending on how you read the word "Bungo" or speak the word "Bungo", one could mean "literary language" and the other could mean "you".
Considering Japan's history with Buddhism and self reflection, this sign could have a deeper meaning as a statement in calligraphy by saying "you are the written language".
Boston Dynamics has robots with great movement capabilities aimed for things like war.
Japan has robots and powersuits made to ease life.
you must be thinking of darpa and the TALON series. boston dynamics makes robots to experiment with dexterity and autonomous control in uncharted environments. they're essentially a precursor to urban, robotic assistance in the western world.

Those legs activated by nerve signals in the arms are connected wrongly. The right arm signals should activate the left leg, and the left arm signals should activate the right leg. This is because we move the left arm forward as we move the right leg forward, when we walk, and viceversa. Just like most quadrupeds move the front left leg and rear right leg forward at the same time, and viceversa. Only camels move both left legs forward, then both right legs. We are not camels.

jesus, dude. why do so many people instantly think of war when they see literally any robot. there could be a video on new automated manufacture robots and middle schoolers instantly go "imagine this in war" like dude, the fuck you need a heavy set of arms on your back that throws off your balance and could get you killed when you have air support and squadmates. no one gives a shit about infantry because infantry in this day and age only serves one purpose: to represent a country and project its power. in any other case infantry is useless, therefore everyone only cares about advancements in air support, even tanks are becoming obsolete. why send in soldiers, with expensive robotic equipment might i add, to die when you can MOAB a stronghold and make a beeline back home.

The spinal paraplegic therapy robot is particularly impressive in what it promises to do. It's not a permanent solution, it's a re-builder of the body until the paraplegic can walk again. So this is not technology of dependency but a technology of empowerment on the road to independence.

I remember reading years ago a SF book and they where talking about a tour bus stopping and all these robots getting off and looking around and taking pictures. The robots where being controlled by real people who where situated back in their homes located all over the world. No passports, no waiting in lines at the airport, no luggage. I can imagine hotels and airlines going broke really fast as they are no longer needed.
