I'm watching this game again today and this is probably the best or rather the greatest game I've watched in all my life still Freeman took him to endgame that in itself is an achievement
Its hard to understand how good he was. Take bobby who had great talent and all that material to study as a kid. Great players to conquer. Its really hard to understand being a pioneer and possibly the greatest of all time. Superman without a nemesis.
I have seen hundreds of chess games and this is definitely my no 1 favorite game, its so beautiful, its almost the mona lisa of chess games. Thanks for the video, i love the beautiful sketchworks, music in the intro and your indepth explanations & analysis of moves.
This is the nth time I am watching this game and I still don't know what mistake freeman give credit to freeman better than many gms of today and this game proves Morphy is not 2700+ super GM but 3000+SUPER GM
For each and every move there was four or five combinations by White each one leading to loss for black it's hard to imagine Morphy visualised so many variations factored in all the combination and yet won what a game Morphy the goat just stupendous
I'm watching it again today. That bishop on d5 is the original immortal bishop in all of chess history. It was under threat from move eight onwards. Yet stayed till the end, unconquered. Virtually every piece except the queen was on sale. The knight went down, the rook went down with the knight fighting gallantly. Only the two bishops loyally served the king. For all I know the light bishop is still there giving the come hither look to the pawn on C6!!!!! And last but not the least, I have yet to see a two bishops Vs rook endgame. This must rank as one of the greatest games ever! It's mho alone.
I'm watching this game again today in lockdown mode I just want to ask is there a modern parallel game that has a similar variation this game is just too good
At 2.53 you suggest playing RA e1. I think you miss the winning line here. Instead of this, Rg5 checks and winning the queen and game. Isn't it? . Very nice game with your magic commentary. Fully enjoyed the game. Keep it up.
You are right this is an awesome game better than the opera game after giving away so many pieces he was a piece up in the end but hats off to freeman he was equally good but still lost Morphy is a genius tahl Fischer anyone I vote Morphy the greatest in the world
You are partially right in the sense that he is predictable in that the opponent is on tenterhooks waiting for that brilliancy move that sudden out of the blue game changer but he is unpredictable bcoz you don't know when that will happen especially when he plays that innocuous simple looking move just prior to the main move which proves crucial to his scheme of things well that's my assessment after watching many of his games whether you agree or not it's upto you thks
The rook on e6 was a landmine sitting there ready to explode really what an amazing chess game by freeman and Morphy it was a tango between the two I believe after the initial five moves it was in favour of Morphy I don't know in almost every variation Morphy was winning this is my assessment
That is the Evans gambit. Sacing a pawn to gain positional adv. But notice here, the bad stayed pawn on b4 and the light bishop stayed till the end, unconquered!!!
From this game it is clear freeman went through morphys games he didn't even accept Evans gambit pulled his bishop back then the only possible explanation is Morphy must have found a refutation to Evans gambit declined both came prepared but Morphy won
Freeman left his Q side undeveloped for a pecuniary attempt to fork B & N and it didnt work out as he hoped. From then on though a valiant struggle. A losing struggle but . .
Yes that was the beauty part of the game. The fork that didn't work. In fact from there onwards things went horribly wrong for Freeman. He shouldn't have saced the knight for pawn. So, now I know after watching it twenty times where Freeman made a mistake. thks cathey.
By the way I saw your playlist. It showed Nero wolf mysteries. Is it the detective story.? A long time I read one of his stories in six famous detective stories. I forget the author's name though. Can you please tell me?
@@rogerscottcathey omg! Thk you so much. I just read one story. Great American sense of humour.it was about the death of a novelty item maker with an odd name called blaney and poor. I don't remember more but the dialogues were extremely funny. But thks so much for your prompt response
@@rogerscottcathey but the problem is even with queen gone his king was in a corner and his other pieces and were far away not properly developed but morphys pieces were ready in line with the king in their radar so queens off the board doesn't mean much to freeman and it doesn't matter to Morphy anyway

I enjoyed that game very much. Thanks
This is outrageously devastating. After watching the game, I can't really say where exactly black made a mistake, tho he still lost - amazing :)

If you, ve ever played chess you know how hard it is, yet morphy made it look so easy a true grandmaster before the term was ever invented.
I really like this series, i never seen any of these games before
Really amazing 👍

Can some GM analyse this game And tell me where freeman went wrong I am watching this game again and again but still not sure

What a brilliant game rook hanging bishop hanging and yet cannot take bcoz mate in one what a game Fischer tahl never produced such a thriller
Hcv sir I believe you have not analysed this game properly pls tell me what mistake freeman made
This game should be called the immortal bishop game. Or the eternal trap game. After move eight every move was a trap and every move was forced
The rook on e6 was a landmine sitting there ready to explode really what an amazing chess game by freeman and Morphy it was a tango between the two I believe after the initial five moves it was in favour of Morphy I don't know in almost every variation Morphy was winning this is my assessment
in same book the name of opponent appear under the name of Dr.Jabez Freeman
Fischer admired Paul Morphy and considered him his equal
Hcv: Morphy sees into the future.!
Well, so does Freeman, only one move later.
Morphy often sacrificing pond b4 in the opening what the purpose?
That is the Evans gambit. Sacing a pawn to gain positional adv. But notice here, the bad stayed pawn on b4 and the light bishop stayed till the end, unconquered!!!
Is genuis a word i love ur chess channel
Thanks friend for watching, new games of Morphy are coming very soon.

According to chessgames.com this was a blindfold simul!?
Yes vs 8 others.
What a game simul to boot I didn't know that what more can you expect from Morphy
What ??? omg. Blindfold simul. playing THIS ? Pure genius.
paul He plays like Alpha zero......simple but crushing and with a 100 accuracy. 😮🎉

With the two bishops and pawn on fifth rank in a single line the black king can not get past the seventh rank
Immaculate
He simply played by theory
Giri Iyer Morphy invented much of the theory he played by. He also had amazing calculating ability.
@@mcconlogue1898 yes I'm with you on this one that's one extraordinary thing about him thks for your reply
I'm watching this game still not clear where freeman went wrong not blunder mind you can someone replay the game and tell me
I personally would have taken the d5 N then cleared the queens.
