    Its hard to understand how good he was. Take bobby who had great talent and all that material to study as a kid. Great players to conquer. Its really hard to understand being a pioneer and possibly the greatest of all time. Superman without a nemesis.

    If you, ve ever played chess you know how hard it is, yet morphy made it look so easy a true grandmaster before the term was ever invented.

  • @giriiyer3968
    @giriiyer3968 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    For each and every move there was four or five combinations by White each one leading to loss for black it's hard to imagine Morphy visualised so many variations factored in all the combination and yet won what a game Morphy the goat just stupendous

    At 2.53 you suggest playing RA e1. I think you miss the winning line here. Instead of this, Rg5 checks and winning the queen and game. Isn't it? . Very nice game with your magic commentary. Fully enjoyed the game. Keep it up.

  • @giriiyer3968

    I'm watching it again today. That bishop on d5 is the original immortal bishop in all of chess history. It was under threat from move eight onwards. Yet stayed till the end, unconquered. Virtually every piece except the queen was on sale. The knight went down,the rook went down with the knight fighting gallantly. Only the two bishops loyally served the king. For all I know the light bishop is still there giving the come hither look to the pawn on C6!!!!! And last but not the least, I have yet to see a two bishops Vs rook endgame. This must rank as one of the greatest games ever! It's mho alone.

    • @giriiyer3968
      @giriiyer3968 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are partially right in the sense that he is predictable in that the opponent is on tenterhooks waiting for that brilliancy move that sudden out of the blue game changer but he is unpredictable bcoz you don't know when that will happen especially when he plays that innocuous simple looking move just prior to the main move which proves crucial to his scheme of things well that's my assessment after watching many of his games whether you agree or not it's upto you thks

    The rook on e6 was a landmine sitting there ready to explode really what an amazing chess game by freeman and Morphy it was a tango between the two I believe after the initial five moves it was in favour of Morphy I don't know in almost every variation Morphy was winning this is my assessment

    From this game it is clear freeman went through morphys games he didn't even accept Evans gambit pulled his bishop back then the only possible explanation is Morphy must have found a refutation to Evans gambit declined both came prepared but Morphy won

    • @giriiyer3968

      That is the Evans gambit. Sacing a pawn to gain positional adv. But notice here,the bad stayed pawn on b4 and the light bishop stayed till the end,unconquered!!!

    Freeman left his Q side undeveloped for a pecuniary attempt to fork B & N and it didnt work out as he hoped. From then on though a valiant struggle. A losing struggle but . .

    • @giriiyer3968
      @giriiyer3968 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that was the beauty part of the game. The fork that didn't work. In fact from there onwards things went horribly wrong for Freeman. He shouldn't have saced the knight for pawn. So, now I know after watching it twenty times where Freeman made a mistake. thks cathey.

      @@rogerscottcathey but the problem is even with queen gone his king was in a corner and his other pieces and were far away not properly developed but morphys pieces were ready in line with the king in their radar so queens off the board doesn't mean much to freeman and it doesn't matter to Morphy anyway
