    There's a third point to consider for what constitutes a good protein source, especially if you like to stay lean....ratio of calories per grams of protein. Greek Yogurt has about 1g of protein per every 10g, which is good. 170 calories for 17 grams of protein (roughly). For the same amount of calories of peanut butter, you get only 8 grams.

    • @sucraloss
      @sucraloss ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maplesap It does matter if you are aiming for a calorie deficit, though. For maintenance or bulking it doesn't matter as much because you have more wiggle room, but if you only have 1800 calories in a day you don't want to mindlessly eat low volume calorie dense food with lower amounts of protein.

    As a vegan, I gotta say I appreciate being able to watch your videos and not be dismissed out of hand or ignored, which will happen on most non-vegan fitness channels. One question I do have is whether you have any graphs comparing the ways and amounts of plant protein can be taken against what you might see from whey and meat. From what you've said, it just sounds like the protein is less digestible and that means you'd need more, and the lower levels of leucine, is that it or are there other factors affecting muscle protein synthesis?

    I'm new to your you-tube channel and subscribed as well. I do have 3 quibbles with this video. They are based on what I think were assumptions on your part, but I they may be covered elsewhere on your site so no 'dis to anyone. 1. The "Pre- and Post Workout "meals. You don't offer a reason for them. What's wrong with just eating a healthy morning meal and then working out? Is it just you are hungry or you poop out without the extra food? Then eat more. What science (rather than an personal sense of fatigue or hunger) supports pre- and post workout meals rather than just eating a healthy but filling diet ? 2. Age. How does that fact you're, say 28, but I'm 64 change the numbers? Assuming healthy kidney & liver, and digestive functions, how are the test results you cited affected by age? 3. The unspoken assumption you are already eating a low fat diet. Theoretically, how would being fat keep me from muscle growth? Maybe it wouldn't at all (but make it a lot harder to obtain haha!). So how are your figures and results altered by the amount of total fat and carbs in your diet? Naturally, it is obvious from the video you want to see and enjoy the results. But a sense of personal achievement may motivate but won't necessarily increase muscle growth in and of itself. Bottom line: How is eating a so-called "balanced, healthy diet" (like the A.D.A. diets many dieticians and doctors recommend) any less productive even if it may not leave you with that shredded look?

    As a vegetarian, I use three scoops of whey protein in a day. But I like to combine whey protein with different foods like oats, fruits and even yogurt. Firstly, I drink a whey protein smoothie in the morning as a breakfast meal then as a pre workout snack I eat protein snack cookie and lastly after workout it's just a normal protein shake.
    I don't eat meat or eggs so I have to rely heavily on whey protein. As a working professional time is a constraint too.

    Jeremy, I can't believe it took me this long to find this channel. Everything here is practical and zero b.s.! I was wondering if you could do a video on increasing strength without increasing size. I know this is not your ballpark and half your videos have "size" and "growth" in the title but this is one topic I have found very little quality content on and lots of conflicting advice. Some say lots of reps for higher muscle activation, others say 1 rep max sets. The only agreement I've seen across the board is on caloric intake. Genetically, I put on muscle size and fat very quickly and lose both very slowly but my strength wains behind. I often look stronger than all my friends but I'm actually the weakest among them haha. It's just discouraging not knowing if I'm heading in the right or wrong direction. I feel like you'd be the perfect person to help shed some light on this issue. Thanks.

    Serious question... and I think you sort of covered it but it's the only piece I'm "missing" mentally: Lifting heavy on compound movements, it's basically best to rest 2-3 minutes between sets. But what about those all important rear flies and face pulls where we have to use much lighter weights. Does that change the thinking behind the rest period? What's optimal there?

    • @Wallace_Fitness_Center
      @Wallace_Fitness_Center 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I typically rest a little less in between my lighter sets tbh. I typically rest 60-90 seconds in between my big lifts and 60 seconds between my small lifts. Also, if I'm in a strength block or working towards some heavy triples or singles on a compound lift, I might rest a bit longer. I'm documenting my entire cut on my channel, take a look and follow, I go into a little bit of programming on there.
